  2. Is Smith going to transfer to Brentwood? The coach has wanted her for years. I hope this rumor isn't true.

It would not make any sense for her to do that. It's her Senior year, and she'd have to sit out a year before she could play. Also, I talked to a reliable source, and they said that Nicole is staying at Page.

  10. There has been no better Sports Fan of Page High School and for that matter for Girls VB and Basketball than Pageman Larry. He has been the most enthusiastic advocate in everything he does. He is the orginal "Stat Man" and keeps records on teams all during the season. When you have a question about of team, usually he has the records to substantiate his answer. He has been CoachT's biggest advocate and has represented him at the State Tournament at times. I'm afraid he , at times, has thought his health might keep him from continuing to pursue his favorite sports and continue to help his AA teams in Middle Tennessee. Lets hope he will return to provide the backup to the sports junkies on this site. He is indeed the most colorful and enthusiastic fan one can see High School events in the State. Hope you are all right Larry "Pageman".

I agree. I don't know what the volleyball team would do without him. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> I've been in touch with him last week, and he's getting a little excited about the volleyball season. The volleyball team is praying that he stays healthy, so we can see him at all of our matches (and feed him his favorite hot dogs). /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />

The Page Patriots are going to have a team to be reckoned with this year.

    Go Page!

  11. It is always a sad time as I go from volleyball to basketball as I will miss the volleyball parents and players - especially the senior players and parents who I may not ever see again. I hope to return next season, but my physical and financial condition may prevent that. I will do my best to return however. Thanks for the memories.

I'm glad you had a good birthday with your daughter. You deserved it. You are truly appreciated by me, and my daughter /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> and whether or not you return to do stats for volleyball, you will be in our prayers. I will definitely be seeing you again, as I have another one coming up the ranks. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

    Go "Page"!

  12. August 1st = rules meeting for middle Tennessee coaches. The meeting is at 5:30 at FRA.

And, if I'm not mistaken, there is a scorekeeper's clinic at 7:00pm on Tuesday, August 7th at Pope John Paul II. If the GLJ would confirm that, too, that would be wonderful. I know of a few people planning on attending.

    Thanks!

  13. I second that motion! All those in favor of CU becoming a ref say "AYE"...

Imagine, Riverdaleman, CU and TGLJ all on the job /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> There might be hope for reffing in Middle Tennessee yet.

    "Aye"...and I just might join her someday. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  14. PageMan is such an important part of the Page athletic programs that he covers. He is truly an inspiration to us and to me personally. I've told him many times how much I appreciate him and I'm sure I've said so on this board, but I want to take every opportunity to say how much he is loved by me and many others.

I am lucky to know him on this board and in real life.

With respect and love to you, PageMan

Amen, CU. I'd have to agree wholeheartedly. I have learned so much from PageMan, and I value his friendship. I am praying that he finds a job he loves, and that is still flexible enough that he can attend our Page VB matches. I, too, am lucky to know him.

  15. CU,

I’m sorry you couldn’t stay until the end of the game. You would have been so proud and excited to see the joy on their faces.

I also agree with you. Volleyball is a game…it’s not life or death. Yes, it’s great to win, but we also grow as people when we make mistakes (ie. losing a match, or shanking a ball, etc). It builds character and helps us be better people for the rest of our life. God gave each of our girls the wonderful ability to play volleyball, and I think He’d want them to enjoy playing…with a smile.

We, as parents, are also responsible for being good role models for our children. What kind of message are we giving them by being “negatively vocal” about smiling during a game? That they shouldn’t have fun and enjoy what they’re doing? How sad is that? We should be encouraging them to have fun and enjoy the wonderful game of volleyball. After all, it's our job as parents to be a support to our kids. If they’re not having fun, they shouldn’t be playing. Life is too short.

And, from my observations, I’ve noticed that some girls tend to play a little better if they are in a good mood, happy, smiling, etc. When they get upset, frustrated, etc, they tend to not be as focused.

Thank you for opening up a great topic of discussion.
