  1. Gosh, don't go getting the whole CH/Sullivan thing going people. Everybody get along! :D

I hate to see anybody give us a bad reputation on here. Seriously guys, we all know Sullivan is extremely underpopulated in comparison to CH and that doesn't help any, especially when it comes to athletics. Sullivan usually has at least 2-3 people every year capable of playing any sport, usually, most of them go to football(not always though). They may not start on the freshman or jv teams or anything, but at least they put out the effort to where they'll be good enough by the sophmore/junior/senior year.

Colonial Heights puts out quite a few more kids capable of playing right away, and I'd say those nice weights in that gym of theirs really helps. Truth is, Sullivan just doesn't have the funding to focus on anything sports-wise right now. The school's really been through a lot over the past 6 years, I want to say about 4-5 principals, not to mention the dropping student population(a ways under 200 last I heard). Currently, they don't have the equipment that CH has to be able to have their boys prepared to go right away their freshman year, but that's why SC has his summer workouts.

Anyway, apologies from the Gardens for the occasional crazy we do produce. :D and whoever mentioned something about linemen coming out of Sullivan in the next few years needs to give me some of that CH feed to put in the cafeteria, because most of these boys over here are tiny as can be.

  2. So far it's just been drizzles in Knoxville, and I've also sadly noticed that has not had much success (except in one game) in the rain in the past couple years...(Boone, who got slaughtered...lol)

We'll see how it goes. Does anybody have the address for Knox West so I can dig out the ol' GPS?

  3. The biggest difference between Knox West and Sullivan South heading into this game is what the coaching staffs and players have been exposed to in recent years. West has been bathed in mediocrity while South has been a conference champion and deep playoff contender for 4 consecutive years. It does not matter how much experience you have returning if they are not "winners" in a winning program. As Billy Preston used to sing "Nothing From Nothing Leaves Nothing".

Honestly how could you compare the two teams schedule strength west each year has a tough schedule and still makes playoffs while south plays primarily nobodies. I am not trying to say that west will slaughter them or anything but they will pull out the win by double digits

West- 27 South- 17 with south scoring late.

I liked the post that hit the board this afternoon from a poster that simply said: West is a 5-5 team. Funny though Knox West has a cumulative 5 year record of 30 -27,MUCH BETTER than a .500 winning percentage. What's that you say? Tough schedule? Oh yea. Last year in the regular season you beat 4 teams and only 1 had a winning record at the end of the year. It doesn't matter who you lost to . Who can you beat? Clinton by 4?

We are expecting a close ,hard fought game.South fans respect Knoxville football and look forward to the challenge of playing West. To say you are going to be great because you have 17 starters back is silly. I hope UT is great this year because our offensive line and QBs are returning. Get the point?

...yea... I mean... .500 winning percentage is drastically worse than being 30-27.... such a huge difference and all.

South's defense will be good this year, you can ask anybody that, the only thing I question will be the offense. I've heard good and bad, but I guess we'll soon find out!

  4. South has their "Best Team Ever" again this year! :hungry:

Ok WaCo "Rebel Wannabe" JaCo- Take your crack pipe and ignorant posts elsewhere. :D

Oh, but didn't you see? His little name underneath his pic says he's the MVP... we can't be sending him away!

What would we ever do without him? :o

In other news, it sounds like west thinks we don't have anything... :D Sneak attack anyone? Never underestimate a team from Sullivan South...

  5. Well, I'm glad it's football time again in the ET... And luckily the good ole boys decided to come to my new residence for the first game of the season. (Good planning there, lol)

I have heard quite a bit about our fellas this year, and I'm hoping they'll do as good as I think they will.

Of course, I would never be satisfied with them just doing good.... :roflolk:

And what time is kickoff if people are getting there at 4:45 for seating?

Much love to Rebel Nation! See you all in the gym!

  7. Well, after 4 years of Sullivan South football, it's hard to believe it's over.

I want to thank all of the DB, Norf, and the THS players/fans I saw at the game for coming out and supporting the Rebs tonight. It was a good one I guess, just not the way I was hoping it'd go(not to blame anybody... /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" ...). Good game guys, and much love to Rebel Nation!

    That's telling 'em.

I gotta say, this one isn't much of a shock to me though...

  9. You said: "Maryville has been hands down better than anybody DB has played over the years"

DB's opponents "over the years" teams like MBA, Riverdale, Oak Ridge, Oakland etc. all four of these teams have been Nationally ranked when DB played them. DB actually went to MBA and beat them when they were riding a 34 game winning streek and ranked # 16 in the Nation. Just last year DB played William Blount straight up and was in the game until the last seconds. Maryville beat William Blount by one point after William Blount missed a extra point attempt. These are just a few of many examples to point out that your claim doesn't hold water.

You said: ""and DB will soon find out for themselves"

DB and Maryville scrimmage every year and the scrimmages usually are pretty even take away a play or two. So DB knows alot more about Maryville than Tennessee High or South. If we meet Maryville in a "real game" I expect a hard fought close game that could go either way. I think its just wishful thinking on your part that DB would lose this game.

As far as Region 1 or 2 taking the gold balls when Maryville moves up, well the other Regions are saying the same thing. Their really chomping at the bit in Hillsboro.

So...the South/Maryville game would have been close...take away a play or two...

I also hear that the Johnson County/South game would have been close, take away a play or two...

That's the reason they(Maryville) are a such a good team, they can get the normal plays all the time no worries, but then they can ever so often bust out one of those crazy-freakin'..."how the heck did they do that!?!?" kind of plays. That's what separates the best from the rest.

  10. No offense to Boone, but if South doesn't win by at least 35 I'd be surprised.

Either way, I've been loving the show the offense has been putting on as of late.

    /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

  11. Good game South you guys are a powerhouse. Fletcher is good when he gets the ball in space, like on screen plays. Now im not taking anything away from him he is good. JC you boys started strong but as soon as South got a led you guys let up. Please dont do that vs THS,North and East. If you do you will not see the playoffs. Just know I support you guys and believe in you. Step it up for the rest of the year and show everyone what you are really made of. Good Luck boys get ready for Happy Valley. South good luck with the rest of your season, but you dont need it.

The best thing of the night was seeing someone from JC. (I wont say his name) One of the South fans was waving his rebal flag in this boys face, and lets just say he will think twice before he does that again. LOL

Was it that kid that got headlocked and dragged out by the cop?

Even if it wasn't that was pretty dang funny.

  12. I played baseball for coach hoover for the past 3 years. He was a great coach all 3 years. Yes he as a temper, but it never really came out that much, only when one of us was pitching extremely terrible or we were having a bad attitude. Maybe he is different in football, i dont know. One thing i do know, is that he is a good person, and I doubt many of you on here know him well enough to talk bad about him, all you know is how you see him coach, maybe its that he doesn't play your son enough, or you dont like coaches that yell sometimes. If thats the case get over it because he doesn't play that politic stuff, the best kids play, and coaches are gonna yell, your kids just need to stink it up and move on and do better. I would say that one reason he stays away from parents is because you all bicker and argue and yell at him for not doing this or doing that in a football game. If you want to coach get out of the bleachers and do it. Anyway, coach hoover is a great coach, everybody on our team last year loved him, maybe the parents didnt but he doesn't coach the parents. So before you all get on here and fuss about him, get to know him, he is actually a good person.

Red, if you're who I think you are, that's the most intelligent thing I've ever heard you say. And I actually agree with you for once.

If not, it's still a good(and true) post. lol

    p.s.

    Waco, it's Sofa, not soffa.

And I'm saying they wouldn't let them transfer to CHMS because Sullivan only has like 26% capacity, so it would be pointless to cram more into an almost full school when it isn't required.

  13. Since someone on here likes to label areas to live where troubled kids come from /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" , what neighbor hood did this young ''G'' come from anyway, Fordtown or Sullivan Gardens?

They can't be from Sullivan Gardens, because they wouldn't get into CHMS. It's too full.(like 92% capacity?)

    So probably Fordtown, lol.
