  1. What do you expect? Greenbrier pushes Kayla Arnold and nobody else. She gets all of the sets, and the offense is run to make her a star. Who has Greenbrier beat this year? Anyone that they shouldn't beat. Smith from Page is twice the player that Arnold is and she is only a junior.

Greenbrier fans on this board (That is you Mr. Arnold) openly talk that Greenbrier better win it all this year because when Kayla is gone Greenbriers run is over. Why act surprised that only certain girls get recognized? How many sets does she get, 2/3's. Then if she miss hits a ball what does the coach say, give her a better set?

Page and Greenbrier play first round of the tournament. Page wins because Smith is better than Arnold, and that is not going to be an upset.

I'm not sure you know who Kayla Arnold is. Do you Know her position or her #.

  2. Cookeville beat Cleveland in three. Good luck to the Lady Cavs. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

  3. I will be there i enjoyed watching the girls play last night at watertown. I was really surprised at how quick the final three matches happened. But they looked like there ready for a run at the gold ball again this year. The little number 12 girl caught my attention man she was killing the ball last night. The twins looked awesome as always. Well good luck the rest of the way. Hope you win it all. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Number 12 is Nina Dever. She is the best-all around athlete at Greenbrier, period. Actually, softball is her #1 sport, then basketball, then volleyball. She was Robertson County basketball player of the year this past season(her Sophmore year). Keep up with her in all 3 sports and you will be glad you did. She is a great young lady inside and out. I am not her parent, but definitely one of her biggest fans. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

  4. In response to 5-sport dad (aka Mr. Arnold):

You may be a great speller, but there is no BUT in Brentwood!

Every volleyball discussion in this state begins, and ends, with the Wood. Every year people get on Coach T and talk about how "This is the year..." and every year we win. That simple.

Your daughter is a very good PLAYER, BUT..., she is on a team where she gets every set. At Brentwood, everybody hits.

You NEVER see our fans get on this site and disrespect anyone, let alone someone like Coach Neely who has spent her life promoting high school volleyball. Also, where do you get off predicting that another team is going to go "Ofer" at the state tournament. It must be nice to sit in the stands and taunt another team while you send your daughter onto the court to back up your boasts. Do you do that in all 5 sports, DAD? I assume that you are not worried about anybody in your district, region or sectional even taking a game from you either?

I wonder what you will say if East Ridge beats you at the sectional? "We would have won, BUT the coach didn't get my daughter the ball enough. We would have won, but the refs cheated. We would have won, but..."

If Greenbrier makes it back to the state tournament, and with the BIG GREEN TARGET you have put on their back that is highly unlikely, I will be cheering for whoever your team plays.

Greenbrier is not that good, where "Ofer's" can be spread so easily. In fact, I will be surprised if you can make it out of pool play. Of course you'll have plenty of "Buts" ready, won't you Dad?

Here is my prediction, Brentwood will work their Buts off to make it back to the state tournament. Brentwood will run their Buts off to get every loose ball, Brentwood will play their buts off, win or lose, and will respect every school.

    [/quote

"Stupid is as stupid does." YOU need to make sure YOU know what and who YOU are talking about before You address someone by name. YOU are dead wrong. I am amazed that you would talk about disrespect. YOU have zero class and sound like a very small individual. Greenbrier and Brentwood are in different classes so maybe you need to simmer down and be worried about AAA. Not one person from Greenbrier has tried to brag about our team. Our team is made up of 6 wonderfully talented young ladies. All can play anywhere on the court, and yes, all get set every game. At Greenbrier, we play as a "team".

As for Coach Neely, no one has disrespected her. She is highly respected and rightfully so.

I also am concerned about your comment about us taunting the other team. WRONG again. Our fans would never be unfair by taunting players from another team.

I would never wish anything bad on any team, regardless of classification. Karma! But, But, But.....

  5. Concussion is what I've heard, a bad one.

On a somewhat related topic, I find it interesting that the boards weren't burning up with the news that Brentwood was beaten twice in their district last week, on the same night, by Independence and Ravenwood. Independence swept them in 3 and Ravenwood beat them 3-1. So one game win all night must be some kind of a record AND at home no less.

I was out of town and expected to see all kinds of stuff being stirred up around here but not a word... /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

Hi there P4K, that is terrible. Hopefully she will heal quickly. I have not heard about Brentwood's losses. They are a great team and very well coached. Independence and Ravenwood are both loaded with talent and surely both will be in the final four. I am amazed with Ravenwood's setter.

  6. I for sure see Hutchison in the mix in D-II no doubt. Probably with Ryan and for sure GPS with Ensworth and ECS as possible 4th's.

Don't see a real challenge to Greenbrier, sorry PM the Patriots just don't have enough. GB is good and will not have the choke factor at all.

But in AAA I will be shocked if Brentwood wins this year. Angelle Hayes injury makes them a stretch to get out of the DISTRICT!! (sorry all bruin fans its Joe Friday here; just the facts m'am.)

Don't see Cookeville in it same reason as Page. They need to win District to get an easier draw in Regionals.

You HAVE to figure on Independence to be in this battle to the end. Independence and Centennial could easily come out of 11AAA this year. I also think Farragut is a real possibility but that Region battle can be harsh.

    MY .02

Hey, BB. What happened to Angelle Hayes? She is the best libero I have seen this year, what a shame.

  7. Looking only at the stats and not seeing the match, Greenbrier had a good day and Page may not. As posted earlier this week, Nicole Smith has been missing in action and did not play this past weekend due to a recruiting trip so its understood. Her lack of play with the team was a factor. But the other side of it PM stats told some other stories to the benefit of Greenbrier. Kaysi and Kayli Arnold dominated the match. And Jennifer Holbert had a monster match. Evidently there was no response to the play of these three players by Page which, in itself is very unusual. Page has a reputation of being a counter puncher and with the lack of play by a very fine player, chemistry was not there to do so. page is a much better team than that. Normally Cassiday Smith's numbers were not outstanding but good. But again Kaysi and Kayli stood out in figuring out what page was going to do ,with blocks. It was obvious Greenbrier came to play and Page just arrived for thsi match. So what now? Bragging rights are now Greenbrier and after seeing them this past weekend, they are playing very well. Nina Deaver is playing well although I did not pick her out this past weekend. Jennifer Holbert is a craftsman that can pick an opponent apart and as every time I have seen her, the Coach of Greenbrier flat knows the game and the right moves to make and likely has adopted Jennifer Holbert. This was an interesting match and Greenbrier has taken a big step. Don't think Page has given up. They will be back. And then there's DCA, Anderson county, and Gps and likely a number of others. So congrats Greenbrier. By the way, the fans at Greenbrier will say this was a team effort and it was, but my comments have been based on the stats provided which did isolate the players in the catagories given.

Just for the record The Arnold Twins names are "Kayla" and Kaysi. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

  8. Just a final word before the State Tournament. Pray for a safe tournament and that all of our daughters will keep this memory in their hearts forever. GOOD LUCK TO OUR GIRLS!!! Play "YOUR" game!

    GOOD LUCK LADY CATS!!! /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" /> /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  9. well all i have to say is AC AND KC dont wish to hard to see greenbrier because you might just get that wish. And i will saY THAT GREENBRIER IS NOT MY SCHOOL . But will be hard to beat.

    THANKS Friendly Christian Supporter! The Lady Cats appreciate it. /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" /> /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

    GO LADY CATS!!!!!

  10. I just want to inform you that Greenbrier is very good! Trust me when I say this, there is only 1 girl on that team that has a shot at playing Division 1 Volleyball. I would like to think that the other 2 may have shot, but I really dont see it.

Just my .02 (again sorry VBD)

Are you actually a D-1 recruiter? What an arrogant (no,ignorant) remark!

  11. I'm curious -- and this really belongs in the "fans" thread -- but did Macon have a problem with your cheering section from Greenbrier? We had an issue with a Macon Co momma and OUR fans during a tournament...apparently they don't like loud cheering sections /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

That is ironic, because they were "trying" to outcheer us last night. They were very loud in the match before ours. Their coach was overheard saying she wanted one of our fans to put a sock in it. She wishes she had fans like Greenbrier(hee, hee). /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

Seriously, we love our daughters and enjoy seeing them do well. We don't say ugly cheers or do anything to put down our opponent. The MOMMAS are loud and proud.

    GO LADY CATS!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  12. Representing Greenbrier on the district 8A/AA all tournament team:

    Kayla Arnold(MVP)

    Kaysi Arnold

    Sara Fowler

    Candy Roberts

    GO LADY CATS!!!!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  13. I would like to thank LoveVB for the posts that have been made and the in formation that comes out of Cookeville. It takes interested fans to take the interest in doing these posts. Since this is the end of the season for a couple of the teams tonite, I thought this post might be appropriate.

Brandon Campbell Gym was where the semifinals were held this evening between 4 of the top teams in 7AAA. As Mary posted, at this point, the main feature was the low ceiling which did come in to play numerous times during the matches. There is so much history in that building, only those who appreciate the history can overlook the carooms and change of direction. Lebanon High School does need a new facility and I would bet it happens in the next five years.

Cookeville did play LHS tonite and in the past 4 years, I personnaly had not seen a crowd from Lebanon as intense and fired up as i did tonite. As Cookeville found out, LHS was ready to play and won in three. LHS, I am afraid, took Cookeville out of their game mainly because of a couple of players 7AAA has now watched 3-4 years who this poster called the Twin Towers back when they entered school. The team and coach was as intense and fired up as was the crowd. Two yellow cards were give, one to each team, in the first game. For those who have not seen a 7AAA match, it was 7AAA VB at its best with emotion and electricity.

While Cookeville has a great program and Coach, it is evident that LHS has started building as program and more players were seen participating at a recent JV/Varsity match than had been seen for some time and it was close to the end of the season. The Coach really seems to be doing a great job.

The twin towers dominated the match so much it took Cookeville's GREAT middle, Green, out of her game and made Cookeville change their game plan. Green has been mentioned as likely one of the best players in the mid state. Senior London Elie, patroled the net on defense and on offense threw darts at the other side of the net and it was obviously unnerving. and did as much to contribute to LHS's win as ony player. In talking with Elie after the match she stated she had not comitted to any school but she would like to play VB in College even though she is good in Basketball and is a high jumper in track.

I was not able to interview the senior from Cookeville but maybe someone can post her intentions at this point. if it is one of their middles, she would make someone a good player.

The second match was won by Siegel 3-1 and I am sure Coach Mary has some details which certainly is not available to this poster. The coach at Blackman has really brought this team along and it would appear this program is on solid footing. The last half of the season, they competed with everyone they played and was because the motivation this coach gave to the team. Blackman can be proud of their team and coach.

LHS's opponent in the finals tomorrow night will be Siegel. Cathy Slaughter and ASST Coach Slaughter have again made it to the finals and the Region. It is difficult to realize the program at Siegel being built in 4 years and this year the success achieved after losing two great junior players from last years team. This would have destroyed most teams but only reinforces the strength of the program to be able to reload. Slaughter, known as a great teacher of the game, continues to bring good players along and stay near to the top of the District. A strict disciplinarian and a believer in good chemistry, Coach Slaughter continues to have a good team and good players.

So it is important to win at this point, first to have a home court advantage and second, after the district finals, if one loses, the season is over. For those seniors who have played 4 years, played in a final 4 State tournament and 3 regionals, their career is something they will remember the rest of their life.

So if you happen to be diriing tward Lebanon tomorrow night and would like to see two grat teams play a very good brand of volleyball, Come by Lebanon High school and See the 7AAA finals but expect there will be a lot of noise and while its not Halloween, expect the fans to be dressed in regala that you would be surprised parents and students would wear. Its 7AAA District Finals time with two great Schools playing to try to get to the STATE TOURNAMENT held in the BORO>

Kaycee Green is actually Cookeville's GREAT outside(left) hitter. Ellee Agee is Cookeville's GREAT middle. Congrats to them on a great season. Congratulations to Lebanon also, but it takes more than taking one player (out of 6) out of her game to win a match. PEACE OUT

  14. CONGRATULATIONS! to the Lady Cats for winning the district tonight. They took Macon County in three(3) /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> games. All the girls were on their game tonight. I was sad not to be playing Portland in the championship match. I think they are a well coached great group of girls also. GO LADY CATS!!!!!!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  15. Greenbrier and Harpeth High made it to the championship match with Greenbrier taking the win. Congrats to Nina Dever, Rebecca Williams, and Jenifer Holbert(MVP) for making the all-tournament team from Greenbrier. Candy Roberts also did a great job on the court. Portland , as usual, were great hosts.

    /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

    18.BRIARCREST

    19.SODDY-DAISY

    20.HARDING

    21. FRANKLIN

This one seems to be more realistic. Thanks Bracket Boy.

  17. Fan of the game. My favorite teams are Cookeville and Culleoka. Knoxville Catholic was an oversight. I would like to see a Greenbrier/Culleoka matchup before I brought Greenbrier into the top 20 mix.

My goodness, you are very confident. So were exactly is Culleoka? Have not heard of them.

  18. 5sportdad ? If reading a post complimenting a great team on winning and wishing them a safe trip home then misspelling their name gets your underwear in a wad, then so be it. I was in the gym from 7:30 until late after the final match and tired, so if that is the only thing you can find to complain about we must have run a pretty good tournament. It was tough with a team dropping out and one not showing up at all I think the coaching staff did an outstanding job.

I did hear someone from Greenbrier say, AC coaches stacked the pools to make it easy for them to make the finals. Well for that person?s information (if they are on here) the final four were all from the same pool A. Stacked yes, but to make it easy NO.

I spoke to Greenbrier?s senior #16?s dad outside after the match (and by the way I want to thank him for the compliment of my daughter #5) telling them good luck the rest of the way and be safe going home, I hope I didn?t mess that up.

It is fun being the team everyone wants to beat, as AC has been for years and apparently still is. Games like these are just a means to an end; obviously they are fun to win. But just remember no one goes undefeated; good teams like AC learn from the losses and move on.

All yesterday was is two great volleyball teams splitting two great matches. AC 2-0 game one and Greenbrier 2-0 game two.

I don't believe that 5-Sportdad was complaining. He is just letting you know that GreenbriEr is spelled with an E not an A and having a little fun. As for the tournament, it was run very well. AC obviously has a great fan base. You guys were great hosts and we appreciate all you did.

There must be some serious rivalries in east Tennessee, as we had three different schools let us know they were there to cheer Greenbrier on (none were from Karns /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> ).

Good luck to your girls in the next few weeks and we hope to see you in the BORO! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  19. When did we start caring about rules or authority. I thought this was the rowdy bunch. so post away. I really would like to keep tabs on the girls Laura has played with and against the last 7 years. She would to but does't have time at the moment.

At 6:05 tomorrow a.m. she boards a plane (for the first time) with her MTSU teammates for Des Moines, Iowa. Then they bus to Omaha to play Creighton (NCAA Tourn) Stephen F. Austin (NCAA Tourn) and Montana St. Then back to Des Moines for the night then up to Ames for Iowa St. (NCAA Tourn) back for class on Tuesday.

Team looks awesome. They are better than last year and they lost to Ohio St in 2nd round of NCAA.

Then next week they get Oklahoma, I think they are top 15.

If they start hot they could be top 25 in ten days.

I really would like to hear a lot about the other kids and I would love some how to see them play.

Good luck to Laura in her Freshman year. She is definitely a role model for all the high school athletes.

I look forward to updates on her!!!

  20. We'll SEE! We'll SEE! New Coach has a troubled past. It seems he has a temper. Word on the Club courts no one wants to play for him. Went into a rage last year at another coach and Barbraw was forced to kick him off the team. It's commonly known amonst club coaches to beat his teams get him mad at his teams and they will shut down!

My mom always taught me, "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything". I believe that is just good manners. Congratulations Jeff, I'm sure YOU will do a great job, just no kickball(wink, wink)!!!!
