What is the outlook for 2013. Heard they had pretty good infielder transfer in from rival school.

Heard the same thing. He is old friend of mine who I called and asked him this question. He said he definitely wasn't coaching softball, didn't know how long he was going to keep coaching. He told me he would look at it after the season. Great Guy, hope he keeps going.

HVA has been fortunate with making other teams beat themselves. Rinegar has done a wonderful job with winning and adapting to the talent he has. Pressure the other team and make them make mistakes. They came back and beat Powell in the tournament with hitting only a couple balls to the outfield. I was suprised that they swept Halls, but I think Powell is a different animal. I don't see halls coming close to beating Powell next week. I am a parent of a former devil, but I don't see anyone matching up against either of the Owenbys or Skeen in relief. One heckuva couple weeks to the season is aproaching. I am looking forward to it.

Its pretty bad that I'm a Halls fan and have to post on a Powell/AC thread, we are terrible and may not win a game. I believe like last year this game will depend on which defense can make the most stops. Going to be a high scoring game. Powell's dbs are a year older and I think that is a big key. I think Powell wins 42-35. I think Powell's dbs are improved enough to atleast slow them down a little. With Powell's offense, I think that will be enough.

I agree how important it is. I dont have a kid in highschool. Tssaa has messed with the school calender so much, I was wondering if it is a "voluntary workout time" or if they can make it "mandatory". Whether it is or isn't, I know every coach demands everyone to be there, as they should. I hear from summer baseball parents who say their son is having to do this or that(extra) for football for missing workouts.

Can these workouts be mandatory, by tssaa rules. I know every coach wants everyone attending, but can they legally(tssaa) hold kids accountable. Kids playing summer baseball, or aau basketball, and not attending all workouts, can they be dismissed for missing? Whether mandatory or not, I know coaches want everyone attending. Some parents pay a lot of money during summer baseball for kids to travel, get exposure they don't get during high school.

htv knows alot about powell athletics. phatcat seems to be a big supporter of powell baseball. do you have any info phatcat?

went and watched the farragut/powell game. excellent pitching on both sides. powell had 1 opportunity to score midway through game. # 8 hitter led off and got on, sac bunt got him over and then next 2 struck out. i thought owenby could hold the ads down, it would depend on powells bats against pfeifer. he looked every bit as good as advertised. now its time for halls to take care of business.

no way bearden beats halls. i dont think farragut can get 8 on owenby. maybe if they get to bullpen or if powell makes a bunch of errors.

predictions? i believe my devils will hammer bearden. i believe its a toss up with farragut/powell. if powell swings it like they did in dist tourn it could be interesting.

i believe the walkoff was in the 8th. i think if both win first round games, the rematch will be in the second round.

Red devils # 1 seed, i do know that.

i dont believe it is a coaching issue at oakridge. ive seen their team play since the coach got there. usually a solid team. they lost their best pitcher to injury and 2 more starters for whatever reason and starting catcher for a while with ankle injury. that would be tough for anyone to overcome.

i believe halls 0 loses, ac 2 loses, karns 3, and powell 4. i think this is right.

i understand what you folks are saying. but, the team obviously didnt quit. sounds like they battled back and got back in it only to have the ump take it away. the bad or good part is that it probably knocked powell out of running for #2 seed. my devils are locked in at 1, ac and karns will battle for 2.

after reading the paper, how bad of a call was it?
