  1. Sounds like J W doesn't want his high school career to end. I have seen this kid and he can take over in a game. The REAL deal for sure. There is NO kid on the field that can compare to J W....

Too bad the Mr. Football selection committee didn't recognize that. The commentators (Humboldt station) just said: "The good thing about TCAs punt team is that Jabriel Washington is not on the field."

  2. This adds to the importance of the TCA/Madison game. I think any of the District 15 top 4 teams could beat each other. At least this way, if we are able to come out on top of Madison in the district, we probably won't have to turn around and face them again in the District tournament. Again, thanks for your interest.

  3. Thanks for taking the time to type all that out for me. I was sort of hoping to get "Coach Mike" from LHS to respond, since they are in District 15 too. I was told it was a TSSA decision, but now it makes sense that it is a rule that we have to combine with 16 for a regional tournament, since they only have 2 teams. I am still concerned about seeding for the tournament. TCA and Madison have played Kingsbury, but I don't think any other teams have. My son is a senior, and I just want to keep on playing as long as possible (a case of parent denial).

  4. Please help see clearly. Region 8 is composed of Districts 15 and 16. Our team is in 15 (12 teams). District 16 has 2 teams (Kingsbury and Sheffield). Last night our team was told we will not have a district tournament for district 15, but will combine with the 2 Memphis teams for a "super region" tournament. This bugs me. We are forced to play 11 regular season games in our district. 8 of those teams don't challenge us. Our main players have only played 2 full district games, and in the last few games have only been on the field for about 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, Sheffield and Kingsbury are playing against DII teams and AAA teams from Memphs. Our out of district games have been challenging, but there are not enough of them due to the size of our district.

My frustration: now we will not be able to play out our district to 1st and 2nd for region seeding. How do you determine the brackets? We can win our district and still have to face Kingsbury (first in District 16) to advance.

Is this common practice? We finally have a team playing great soccer, homegrown players who came in 8 or 9 in the district last year. Hve not lost a district game this year (granted our biggest challenge is coming) Now we will be determining the region brackets by a "gentleman's agreement" since Kingsbury and Sheffield have not played most teams in our district ?

  5. Stockerd, all that you said is true, true, true. Coach Hodum has built TCA football into a respected program, and I hate to think at what cost to his family. We love him for his positive Godly influence on our sons. Thanks, Jill and kids, for sharing him with us.

  6. Jorge Guerri, junior kicker, of the Union City Golden Tornadoes is 40-41 on PAT's (Had one blocked against TCA on a wet field). 2-2 on field goals. He's kicked 50 plus yard field goals in practice. Jorge is an exchange student from Spain. He'd never kicked a football until two weeks before the season started.

Actually, a blocked extra point does not count against the kicker's stats. He is an excellent kicker.

  7. Five Wins In A Row Over Sub-Performing Teams? I Feel T.C.A. Warms Up The Drums On Riverside! :roflol:

Thanks, Butchie for the vote. Cardfan from Adamsville left us out of his playoff brackets, in favor of Riverside. TCA will be ready for Riverside, and I predict will be in the playoffs.

    TCAMOM,

I did not leave you out for any reason other than at this moment they are lsited higher than you. If you follow some of my other posts you will see that I have said this game has huge implications and whoever wins will be in. Looking at things right now though you guys are out of the playoffs. After this week with a win you are back in. No disrespect was intended for you guys. The more teams from 15-a that make it the better we all look.

Cardfan, that makes sense. I am just irritated, and you got the brunt of it. Your posts are fair, and thought out. Overlook my peevishness. Hope to play you again this season.

  9. This is for lilc3, I communicated with you in the spring about my daughter tearing her ACL. The surgery went well, she rehabbed all summer. Last Sunday she played in her first game since the injury. A fall league game with her middle school team at Webb and she played well (10 points and 11 rebounds). She gets swelling from time to time and she plays in a brace (which she hates). Do you wear one? Her therapist said she really didn't need it, but I was wanting a players opinion on it.

Scott, I am a physical therapist. My daughter underwent ACL recontruction 18 months ago and is doing great. She plays (lives, breathes) soccer and tore her ACL/and did major meniscus damage (medial was repaired, 1/3 of lateral was removed) playing indoor soccer. About the brace: I am finding that most female players do great in just a neoprene sleeve. It provides proprioceptive input, but does not slide or irritate like the brace. If your orthopedic surgeon is okay with her playing without the brace (depends on what he feels when he checks the graft integrity), encourage her to start using a neoprene sleeve for drills, shooting in the driveway, etc. Maybe put on the brace for scrimmaging until she tosses it aside. She will.
