  1. Hard to really play the what if game, for all we know, had the defense fallen apart, the offense may still could have found a way to win, which has been the game by game mantra of this team, finding a way to win.

I hope last night answered any questions about the QB position and our ability to have a balanced offense. I hope Oakland looks to go to the air just as much for the rest of the season, as we showed last night that Oakland's receivers are very capable. I think part of the offensive woes is we just go to face facts, Schaller was not getting it done, most of his big plays have been with his legs. That said, Trevor's injury puts us in a sticky position, Henry didnt do too bad last night, but nowhere near the solid production Trevor has been able to give us year in and year out, I am still waiting to hear an explanation on how in the world they did not call a roughing the kicker last night, but I guess it shall just be in vain.

This is a matchup of 2 very solid all-around teams. In games like these, the team that shows the best execution of basic fundamentals helps. Probably one of the better games in 5A this week.

Great Post,, Should be a great game

  3. Good job Cavs on the hard fought win!

Gotta be able to win the close ones & from behind so this should help prepare you for the rest of the season.

your 100% right. got to win close ones and from behind..and they were down in the 4q and they got a fumble and and took the ball into the end zone. Well played teams right here..like everybody said..Leb is a good football team no matter if they are 0-3..they will still play ruff and show that they wont quit.. Great job to the Cavs and wish you guys luck rest of the season.

  4. I doubt CHS will come out throwing..i say they will come out running and see how CC def can stop the run..CHS has some good RB.1 Senior, 1 Jr, and 1 Sophomore who runs the ball really well and they have 2 great QBs also.. CC and CHS both have great def i heard this year..but i can see CHS pulling out a win this year.

  5. Do you guys always rush the opponents' field when you win? Just curious.

Liked how the Cookeville students ran the flag into the stadium. Some said they ran it all the way from Cookeville. Some said they rode in a truck to the city limits. Which was it?

Yes the cookeville fans always goes on the field..even if they lose...and CHS Cross Country runs the ball all the way from cookeville to white county..i forgot how many ppl ran.but each one runs 1 mile..but some who had the flag and stuff rode in trucks

  6. Bearden is supposed to have a SOPH RB who is going to be a stud this year... did anyone see how he looked? He's undersized but quick, quick, quick.

and yes..there running back they had was Really Really Quick...thats how the scored on Cookeville...the first play i think from the 50 yrd line..he ran right up the middle and nobody touch him..

  7. Scrimmage was against Blackman, Cookeville, Bearden, and Oak Ridge. As far as I am concerned this is the best and most well run scrimmage OR goes to every year. It is well organized and the kids get a lot of good work. Plus, they play on Tenn Tech Field which is great for kids too.

They started off with each team getting work on all phases of kicking game. Bearden stood out as their kickoff return team ran back their return all the way against Cookeville. They then had all four teams playing at the same time, two on each end of field. They ran goal line from the 10 yard line for a few series and then moved out to the 45 and worked toward opposite end zones. I did not keep track of the scores of any of the games, although I know some did. Maybe they can post with that info. To me, score at scrimmage does not matter as the coaches typically are trying kids in new positions and trying new plays plus they also put kids in not so good formations just to see how they react. But, I think in generall all the teams were fairly equal as far as scores go.

OR looked a lot more improved from the Maryville scrimmage, but still has work to do. Both QBs played well. I actually thought David Irby played better than I have ever seen him play. His first pass went for a TD and second went to the 2-3 yard line. Clark struggled initially and got better as scrimmage went on. I think we are in for another year of a two QB offense. Defense looked good too. A lot of good play by linebackers harter, Johnson, and Underwood. Front line look good too. Rogers was back on field from injury list and he definately adds to the offense. Several of their younger tailbacks looked good at times. Receivers were all good and held on to ball. Trent made a great catch in the end zone. He is a good add to the team!

As far as size goes, Blackman won hands down. They had some D-1 looking players. Don't know what they feed those boys, but they were big! They also had a very good tailback that kept their offense running.

If OR can keep improving each week like this, they will be ready to go in my opinion. The Kingsport game (third game I think) will be their first true measuring stick.

Bearden didnt return one kick return on Cookeville..the start of the whole Kick Off game..CHS score first from a 89 or so Kick Return by Zach Salada (just wanted to clear that up)

  8. Cookeville will come out on top..they Scrimmaged Pearl Cohn and i heard that Cookeville shut them out..beatin them by 4 TD's.. which thats also there first scrimmaged..but i just have a feeling that Cookeville will come out #1 and it will be a toss up with Coffee County and Lincoln County like always..all 3 teams when it comes to Region game, Shows that they are great teams. i wish them all luck this year.

  9. Cookeville just got done with a Jamboree vs Livingston..and Cookeville Look really..i mean really good..Maken some good plays on Def..and running the ball really well with there star running back Dustin Langford and backup running back Zach Salada.....Cookeville score the first time touching the ball with a WR Pass from Jerred Griggs to Jeremy Brooksbank.. but miss the ex point...Cookeville held them all the way down until 25 sec left in the game when they put there 4th string DB's in and LC score on them to beat Cookeville...other than that...Cookeville looked Great out there and they will have a great season this year...

  10. 2 for each of the best players for that Position-

QB--Taylor Hennigan (CHS) Kyle Mullican (WC)

RB--Dustin L (CHS) Jeremy Ramsey (LC)

WR-- Kevin LaRoche (CHS) Tyler Thornton (CC)

FB-- Ben Burcham (LC) Shane Bates (CHS)

By the way.... Plz write down who you think are the best players like i did

  11. 2XxX0 what do you think cookevilles strengths are? where do you feel like they need to improve the most?

mainly they need to work on some of the linemans..to help block and everything for there QB..but they have already improve alot!! at first..they wasnt good on Def but since the games been goin on that have got it alot better..hold the other team and give the ball to there Off. so they could put some Points up...they just have a great coach "Coach Joslin." he is a good man and he knows how to push them into something they want..yes they might have to go threw alot of heck..but like this season..NOBODY and i mean NOBODY thought Cookeville was goin to win..everybody said LC should have won and not us...but everything joslin did to them really help them out and winning another Region!! thanks for the Q? "Mr Heisman" Take it easy

  12. Wow what a year it has been for the Cavaliers..there was some close games and some wasnt that close..1 game for the Cavs in the Region was Coffee County Red Raiders. Which the cavs had one thing to do on Def was fine the RB and dont let him get out side of us.soo that didnt work out good but end it up with a win of CC 45-35...the next game was Warren County Pioneers.which was another close game b\c they came back at the end but fell short to the Cavs 28-21...Next was Cumberland County Jets which hasnt had a great year and cavs killed them 31-6.(Dustin L #3 RB for the cavs - had his longest run of the season this game 99 yrs) then the next game was the tuff team in the Region..Lincoln County Falcons.(it has always been 1 and 2 in the region for these 2 teams) wow it was close all the Def had to do was to Stop the RB and FB and sack the QB soo he couldnt throw the ball..cavs won 31-20..after winning that game Cookeville Cavaliers won there region for the 3 straight in a row...they do have one more region game VS Franklin County Rebels but it doesnt matter..cavs won it......To everybody in 3-5a..Great season now lets repesct 3-5a in the state BABY!!!!
