  1. Thanks! You put it MUCH clearer than I did! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

    Getting old and senile is tough, but I 'thought' I could still read a chart. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I had to go to "The Man" David Limbaugh for clarification.

  2. That is not correct. Just looked at the TSSAA web site and the bracket. The winner of L.C., Smyrna game will host the winner of the Riverdale, W.C. game. If the winner of the Riverdale, W.C. game wins the quarter finals game then they will host the semifinal game. If they win that one then they will be the home team in the big game.

LOD is correct. If the two teams remaining in the quarter final game are from the same region, the higher seeded team is at home. The (H) in that bracket means that if their is a region 3 team still in it, they would be home.

    If it is:

RHS or WCHS vs LCHS - LCHS is home

RHS vs SHS - RHS is home

WCHS vs SHS - SHS is home

  3. phillip stevenson picked off that pass right in front of the riverdale sidelines and all the coaches were yelling for him to go down and he returned it all the way for the TD. of course everyone was happy he got a TD but he was asked why he didnt go down, he said "i was thinking WWDD...what would Dave (thomas) do" /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

that play really did put the game away, WC was driving down the field well for the tie down 21-14

    Didn't Riverdale win 29 - 7. If so WC could not have been down 21 - 14.

  4. The only reason Smyrna fans should be on this board is to maybe voice their opinion on how this shakes out. They have played both teams, and should have an idea of what they believe. Secondly, I am just pleased to see WC getting some credit for the way the boys have played this season. They were picked dead last in the region and are still fighting and playing hard. Honestly, I would love to see WC take this game and run the table this season. They are a young football team and opportunities like this don't come along every season for every team. They are on one heck of a run and I would like to see them pull it out. We all know Riverdale will be right back in the mix next year, when will WC have another shot like this? These are 2 of the better teams I have seen play all year. Whomever wins this game could very well win it all. But the old saying is true, "To be the man, you've got to beat the man."

Most of Riverdale's starters are seniors and will not be in the mix next year. They cannot say we will be here next year to win it all. They know what is at stake and will be there Friday night on a mission. No next year for this team, only now.

  5. Now riverdale may be bigger and stronger but we are just as fast as yall are. and yall definately have depth but our players are playin because they love the game and have fun playin it and they want to prove everybody that doubted wilson central last year that WC can play with anybody and beat anybody they dont play scared.

Does this mean that you think the Riverdale players do not love the game and do not have fun playing it? If so, you are way off the mark. These guys are not forced to play, they are not robots going through the motions. They love to play the game. They also have something to prove. They have the weight of all those other state championship teams. They have the weight of all that tradition on their shouldres. They have to live with seeing the gold balls in the trophy case everyday and have the coach remind them they have not earned theirs yet. They are reminded every practice that they have not earned a thing at Riverdale until they earn that ring. This group of Riverdale seniors has a lot to prove.

and a defense that holds them scoreless for 3 qtrs

That more than anything. Good point.

  6. WC has plenty of magic to pull out to beat Riverdale, and we will bring it to Tomahawk Stadium. WC is more prepared this time then they were last. WC is a great team and it may surprise many this Friday night.

    /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

You better bring Criss Angel, David Copperfield, Penn & Teller, and any other magician you can to have enough magic to win at Tomahawk. Maybe you can borrow Sonny and Crouch too. Oh, and one good Hail Marry.

  7. man he really knows the wing /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

So warriordad82 - that tipped pass was luck? what about riverdale going 3 quarters without scoring?

What about 3rd down and 11 with under 2 minutes to go and everyone knowing smyrna was going to run and they ran it for 14 yards right up the middle. This does not even take into account riverdale having it 3 times inside smyrnas 30 the last 8 minutes and not scoring a point.

last 2 games against smyrna have been decided by a grand total of 6 points with each team winning one.

    as for warrior dads statement;

"And what magic do you think WC can pull out of there hat that will change the outcome from the last game."

if I was a riverdale fan statements like that would scare me to death!

Why should Riverdale fans be scared to death of statements made by Riverdale's or any other team's fans? No statement ever made by a fan had any outcome on a game played by the players. Now if this was the mind set of the team and coaches I would be concerned. But since I have contact with the players and coaches on a daily basis I know that this is not their mind set. The seniors on this team are well aware of what looking ahead will do to you in the playoffs. They are treating WC with all the respect a team that won their first round game 45 - 0 should be treated. They are preparing to play WC this week and have no other team on their mind. This team is taking it one play at a time. Riverdale has bigger, stronger, and faster athletes and more depth than WC. If they will concetrate on the task at hand, they will win this one going away. If they loose focus and think about round three, they will be in trouble. Riverdale fans should not worry about what anyone on here says but about what the players mindset is and how they play.

  8. did you spend time with them at the MTSU game? if so we were sitting very close to each other

No. We were at another game about three hours from here. They stated that the intensity would be way up from this past Friday night. They are seniors and this is their last chance at the gold ball and a ring. They are going to give it all they have to go all the way. There is great sr. leadership on this team and they expect more than the effort from this past Friday.

  9. Riverdale fans seem to be dwelling on the past. Sure hope your players aren't. Wilson Central came to Coffee County and let's just say brought the house down. WC has gained so much more power they are kind of like a hurricane approaching shore. I suggest Riverdale starts preparation early.

    WC-21

    RDale-14

It does not matter where the fans seem to be dwelling. All that matters is where the players heads are. I can tell you after spending the day yesterday with a couple of the linemen, they are ready to put the poor performance from Friday behind them. They start preparing for Wilson Central today and will be totally focused all week and especially Friday night. Wilson Central will bring nothing down at Tomahawk this Friday. This will be a statement game for the Warriors.

  10. Smyrna wants to play riverdale again. I am not so sure riverdale wants smyrna again though.

Somebody with 2 post both about riverdale games and you can read the tea leaves a declare them from smyrna.

My bet is somebody from wc or mj by their screen name.

Better focus on wc they are playing well right now and while you guys beat them fairly easy earlier we both know how that can work out.

They are loaded with seniors and I just get a sense of confidence in them. Wc is by far the most dangerous 3 seed in the state.

Riverdale does not care who they might play in round three. Their focus is on Wilson Central Friday night. Why would Smyrna want to play Riverdale again? This is not last year.

  11. You should give the guys from WC more credit... they stuck it to your so called "mighty" Warriors for 3 and a half quarters my friend. If WC has any kind of offense, this game may have played out differently.

IF, IF, IF. If WC was a better team they would not have had to face Riverdale in the first round. If they were a better team Riverdale would not have done what they have done all year and played down to the competition. This was a very ugly win for Riverdale. It had to be the worst they played all year and it had nothing to do with WC. The coaches will have to do a better job this week to get the boys more focused. This Riverdale team does not have the killer instinct of some of the past teams. We have to play a team next week that had no trouble at all getting up for their first round game. If this team wants the gold ball they better get their heads on straight and focus. Way too many penalties tonight and no heart until they had to.

  12. If he is a player, why is he on here talking trash? The kid has over 2,000 posts! Does their coach know they're on here? It just seems to me he should be preoccupied with studying the opposing team, not arguing with fans.

He is a talented young man. A starter on the offense of an undefeated team. He can study the opposing team, beat them, keep his grades up, and post on here. The coaches do not care that their players are posting on here if they are at home on their own computer on their own time. At least he is just talking trash and not trashing the opponents visiting locker room.

  13. Finally saw the video of the game from a friend who's son plays for Lavergne. To borrow a line from a warrior fan that I can't remember, Lavergne beat them everywhere but the scoreboard. Riverdale must not work with their secondary. No offense to any of these young men, but this has to be the poorest coached secodary that I have seen. Riverdale will not go far in the playoffs.

Poorly coached enough to pick off Sonny twice and beat Smyrna. We do not have coaches, just a bunch of good ol boys that stand on the sideline and cheer. Our boys just win on talent. We don't even practice, just show up on Friday nights and play. Maybe Smyrna will have that kind of talent one day and not need coaching. Oh I forgot, they already have no one to coach them.

  14. j v has had only 2 games this yr

This is a shame and something I have not understood since I have been following high school football here. With 8 teams in the region you should have at least 7 jv games per year. It would benefit all the teams to do this. It would be an issue if you did not have the numbers on your team. All the teams in 4 5A, except maybe WC, have enough players to have a jv squad and play a 7 game schedule.

  15. Exactly my point. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

We have to start with the underclassmen's game training in every possible place where we can get it. Some teams are already doing it.....ie Smyrna starting two Freshmen all year. Blackman has been playing ALOT of underclassmen all year.

This also gives us an opportunity to see their true capabilities as to where we SHOULD be playing them in the future.

These teams are playing freshmen out of need. I would rather have the depth of talent and less experience than have to depend on freshmen in 5A. I do wish we would play some of the younger players more but glad we do not have to depend on them like some teams.

  16. If we are going to use that reasoning, it would have to be Millington. Undefeated and 4 shutouts and only 55 points given up all year long. Of the nine games, our starters on defense have only played 2 full games. In two other games, they have played 3 quarters and in the rest they did not play the second half.

I guess I should have said undefeated and three shutouts and in region 4. Region 4 is one of the 2 toughest regions in the state.
