1. QUOTE(toinemac @ May 17 2007 - 04:42 PM) 826461313yet another sport where Bolivar somehow ends up in Pulaski............................crap

BOLIVAR WILL BE PLAYING AT MARSHALL COUNTY AND GILES COUNTY WILL BE PLAYING AT LEXINGTON.

PAGEMAN WHERE WILL YOU BE FRIDAY?

GILES COUNTY AND LEXINGTON PLAY AT 4.

  2. QUOTE(E5 @ May 15 2007 - 11:53 AM) 826459497Can I have your email? I will send you a hard drive full of actual game photos of swings. The hands are the weakest part of the body and are connected to some of the weakest muscles of the body. "Level" to what? Ground? Pitch? Show me an athletic movement that the hips (larger muscles) do not lead the hands (smaller muscles.) This is the Kinetic Link. This is physics. Unless a hitter can suspend the Laws of Physics....well

I CAN ALSO SEND YOU ACTUAL BIG LEAGUE GAME PHOTOS OF SWINGS THAT SUPPORT WHAT I SAY. ON A LEVEL PLANE THROUGH THE BALL. THERE ARE SOME GUYS THAT HIT THE WAY THAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT WITH THE HIPS OPENING AND THE HANDS DRAGING THROUGH. BUT WHEN THIS HAPPENS YOU HAVE TAKIN AWAY POWER TO THE OPPOSITE FIELD. THE HIPS ARE GONE AND THERE IS NO POWER LEFT TO BE GENERATED ON AN OUTSIDE PITCH. ALSO WHEN THE HIPS GO, THE FRONT ARM LOCKS OUT AND THE BAT DRAGS THROUGH THE ZONE. ANOTHER POINT, IF THE HIPS ARE GONE AND THE HANDS ARE BACK, WHAT IS LEFT TO PULL THE BAT THROUGH THE ZONE? THE ARMS. SO REALLY YOU END UP USING THE HANDS MORE. I LIKE THE SWING WERE YOU HAVE EVERYTHING BEHIND THE BALL AND CAN USE ALL OF YOUR POWER. IM NOT SAYING THAT THE HIPS ARENT GOING TO DO THEIR WORK, IM JUST SAYING THAT INSTEAD OF THINKING HIPS THEN HANDS IT SHOULD BE THOUGHT OF AS MORE OF AN EXPLOSION WERE EVERYTHING WORKS TOGETHER.

  3. THE SWING IS ABOUT BALANCE AND MAXIMIZING THE POWER AND ACCURACY OF YOUR SWING. A GOOD SWING IS NOT EVERYTHING TO HITTING. JUST LIKE THE GAME, HITTING IS ALSO VERY MENTAL. HAVING THE RIGHT APPROACH AND HAVING A SOLID PLAN WILL MAKE FOR GOOD HITTERS.

THE SWING: START IN A COMFORTABLE POSITION. YOU WANT EVERYTHING AS LOOSE AS POSSIBLE. TIGHT MUSCLES MOVE SLOWER. THE STRIDE MUST BE DOWN BEFORE THE BALL HAS LEFT THE PITCHERS HAND. THIS IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST PROBLEMS. MOST TRY TO GET THEIR FOOT DOWN AS THE BALL IS ON THE WAY. THIS CAUSES MOVEMENT OF THE HEAD AND CAUSES THE BALL TO APPEAR TO MOVE MORE THAN IT REALLY DOES. IT IS ALSO HARD TO LOAD ON A 90MPH FASTBALL IN A FRACTION OF A SECOND AS ITS ON THE WAY TO THE PLATE. BEING LOADED AND READY TO HIT BEFORE THE BALL HAS LEFT THE PITCHERS HAND IS VERY IMPORTANT.

ONCE THE HITTER IS IN A GOOD POSITION TO HIT, THE BALL IS ON WAY. I DONT LIKE TO TEACH THAT THE HIPS HAVE TO CLEAR THEN THE HANDS COME. I BELIEVE ITS MORE OF AN ALLIGNMENT OF THE HIPS AND HANDS. IF YOU LOOK AT THE MAJORITY OF MAJOR LEAGUE HITTERS WHEN THEY HIT THE BALL YOU CAN ALMOST DRAW A STRAIGHT LINE DOWN THEIR BODY. THE HEAD, HIPS, AND HANDS ARE ALL ALLIGNED. I THINK THAT THE HANDS ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE SWING. WHEN THE HANDS GO SO DO THE HIPS. ALSO WHEN THE HIPS ARE BEHIND THE BALL IT GIVES YOU MAXIMUM POWER TO ALL FIELDS. SHORT TO IT, LONG THROUGH IT. THIS IS A GREAT SAYING FOR TAKING THE BAT TO THE BALL. YOU WANT TO TAKE THE HANDS FROM POINT A STRAIGHT TO POINT B. YOU ALSO WANT TO HIT THROUGH THE BALL, KEEP YOUR BAT ON A LEVEL PLANE AS LONG AS POSSIBLE. THIS GIVES YOU THE BEST CHANCE OF MAKING CONTACT AND GETTING BACKSPIN ON THE BALL. DURING ALL OF THIS YOU WANT TO HAVE BALANCE. NOT WEIGHT ON THE BACK LEG OR SHIFT YOUR WEIGHT TO THE FRONT LEG. WEIGHT SHOULD STAY IN THE MIDDLE, BALANCED. THIS ALSO APPLIES TO THE FINISH. IF YOU CAN FINISH WELL THEN YOU PROBABLY DID ALOT RIGHT IN THE SWING. HEAD DOWN ON THE POINT OF CONTACT AND GOOD BALANCE.

  4. QUOTE(PageMan @ May 11 2007 - 10:47 AM) 826457262Good luck to the Bobcats on Monday - sorry I won't be able to make your game as Page's Baseball Picnic is that day at 5:30.

THANKS FOR THE HELP. WE WILL LET YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS.

  5. QUOTE(PageMan @ May 11 2007 - 10:35 AM) 826457248Yes, GCBBCTS, Page played Ezell-Harding in the Wilson Co. Tournament on March 17, 2007 and won 16-6. I'll search a post a link to my game report if I did one for that game. This game was played during spring break and I believe that E-H may not have had all their players. Page hit the ball well with 13 hits that included 2 HR's, 1 triple, and 1 double, but probably in reason that E-H lost so badly was their 9 errors. From what I've heard about E-H recently, they have been really playing well so this early season game probably won't help you much.

Here is their batting line up with their hits and positions:

    #4 Gentry 2B- 1 Single to CF

    #14 Holder CF/P & PH #13 Thompson

    #12 Hyder SS - 1 Single to RC - 1 RBI

    #9 Donegan 3B - 1 Double to LC - 1 RBI & PH #3 Petty

    #2 Dixon C - 1 Double to LC - 1 RBI

    #22 Duncan LF/CF - 1 Single to SS, 1 Single to LF, 1 Single to RC - 1 RBI

    #10 Carter RF

    #23 Richardson 1B

    #18 Wilson DH for #7 Russell P

    E-H batted 241 with a slg % of 310 and an OB% of 290

    Page batted 351 with a slg % of 595 and an OB% of 442

Page had 5 batters reach base on errors as E-H's Fielding % was 750

    THANKS PAGEMAN

  6. QUOTE(cbg @ May 11 2007 - 10:06 AM) 826457228This format is not a true test of a teams ability. If a team has one great pitcher (ala David Price) and two others that are average at best they can still get to the state by pitching the stud on Monday & Friday. Would it not be best to play the region games on Monday & Tuesday and play a best 2 of 3 series with one game on Friday and 2 games on Saturday with the winner advancing to the state?

yes, the system does not always allow for the best team to advance. needs to be changed to 3 game series after district.

  7. QUOTE(PageMan @ May 10 2007 - 09:01 AM) 826456299Pitching will be the question, especially in Marshall's case. I'll have to check the TSSAA rules for tournament play to see if the 10 inn rule per week is in effect. I assume that Giles will use Clay Sanderson since he has had the most rest. I think that he pitched 7 inn against Loretto so I assume he has 3 inn left for the week. Sanderson could be relieved by Kelby Sutton was has 6 inn left. Marshall's #1 and #2 pitchers - Seth Lintz and Judd Stoltz - have 3 inn and 4 inn left respectively. If I remember the rules correctly, if a pitcher pitches in any part of an inning, that counts as a full inning. If a game 2 happens, pitching will be even a bigger question.

I expect a good game or games with hitting and fielding being key factors. Any errors could cost the game and any big hits could win the game. We'll have to see how it plays out. I'll be there with reports later tonight.

I will re-check the TSSAA rules regarding pitching.

THE RULE IS IN AFFECT. I THINK LINTZ HAS THROWN SEVEN INNINGS SO FAR AND STOLTZ HAS THROWN SIX. IF THEY DO PITCH IT WILL BE ON SHORT REST. LINTZ THREW FIVE INNINGS MONDAY AND AROUND THIRTY FIVE PITCHES TUESDAY NIGHT. STOLTZ ALSO THREW ALOT TUESDAY NIGHT, PROBABLY CLOSE TO 85 PITCHES. TONIGHT SHOULD BE A BATTLE OF OFFENSES.

  8. QUOTE(SuperSport @ May 8 2007 - 10:46 PM) 826455040Can these two teams meet and nothing happen? Really, I havent seen a clean game in years between these teams. If we want to talk about home-cooking, we could talk about every team left in this district tourne. Isn't that some of the point of home-field?

You say Miles is from Pulaski, but I guess you don't know how bad he loves to screw Giles Co. He's done it for years, and may be last night he had a "bad game".

As far as the parent goes, I wont say who because the player cant help what his parents do.

Let the games be played, and the winners and losers decided. In no game so far have the umpires completely changed the outcome of the game. Champions overcome controversy, losers dwell on it.

THANK YOU SUPERSPORT. YOU CAN LOOK AT UMPIRES, ALTERCATIONS, WHATEVER YOU WANT. THE TRUTH OF THE MATTER IS THAT THE KIDS WIN OR LOSE GAMES.

  9. QUOTE(PageMan @ May 8 2007 - 03:15 PM) 826454610Thanks lorettobaseballfan. I'm beginning to get the picture now. The game was in Pulaski and the umps favored Giles - I guess there must have been some good food at the Hickory House after the game for the umpires. Seriously, I guess everyone makes mistakes, but I bet there won't be any "winging" to get on base in Lewisburg tonight. Any chance of the names of the umpires - just curious.

IT WAS NOT THAT THE UMPIRES WERE JUST BAD FOR LORETTO. THEY WERE BAD BOTH WAYS.

  10. QUOTE(lorettobaseballfan @ May 8 2007 - 01:43 PM) 826454537About the ballgame last nite...it was a good one but the calling was horrible on both sides. Luke B was pitching last nite and done a good job but twice a boy on giles stuck out his elbow to get hit. It was very obvious!! Then the umpire in the field made several bad calls on both sides!! I yet to understand how can one steal a base get under the 2nd basemen and be called out while the 2nd basemen is up in the air trying to catch to ball? It confuses men and about the parent...I believe it was from our side lol-when the kid (the same one as before) stuck his elbow out and got a base Unbelievable!! Overall the ballgame was worth 5 bucks watching!!! LOL

I AGREE THE UMPIRES DID NOT HAVE A GREAT NIGHT AND IT DID AFFECT THE GAME TO SOME DEGREE. HOPEFULLY THE TEAMS MEET AGAIN AND THERE ARE NO PROBLEMS. THIS IS A GREAT RIVALRY.

  11. QUOTE(imno1uno @ May 8 2007 - 02:15 PM) 826454569I'm amazed at how grown adults act in public.

High school players are entitled to hype and defend their team, its part of the game. Parents are entitled to bask in the glory of their child's abilities.

But the twain should never meet.

The game between Giles Co. & Loretto is a perfect example.

Tempers flared and egos were bruised across the entire park! A Giles' coach (an advanced aged person already steamed over any number of calls or the lack of) aimed his anger toward a Loretto player (a TEENAGER).

Even if words were exchanged, this coach (an ADULT?) should have not engaged in a heated debate with the player.

This lack of restraint only fueled a response from that player's Father.

The spirit of the game was already headed downhill.

Batters were advanced to first by a lack of an attempt to dodge a pitch in the strike zone.

I guess it's safer to agree with a call (or the lack of) if you were not watching the game.

And another thing, PARENTS... if your son or daughter is pulled from the game by a coach because he/she did not follow the coach's direction..AGAIN.. Don’t make a statement your not willing to back up.

If your child is too good to play for this or that team, I'm sure another parent will gladly draw you a map as to how get out of that town, leaving you free to never return again.

    Setting examples... what a concept.

MOST OF THIS IS TRUE, IT GOT VERY HEATED BUT THE GILES COUNTY COACH NEVER SAID ANYTHING TO THE OPPOSING PLAYER. HE WAS TELLING THE FIELD UMPIRE TO GET CONTROL OF THE GAME. IT WAS A MISUNDERSTANDING. THE COACH WAS POINTING AT THE UMPIRE AND TALKING TO HIM AND THE PLAYER THOUGHT HE WAS POINTING AT HIM. JUST A MISUNDERSTANDING. NOTHING WAS SAID TO THE PLAYER.

  12. QUOTE(qdizzle151b @ May 7 2007 - 12:30 PM) 826453524Papaqdizzle sez,

"Baseball is a thinkin' man's game. Batters will pick up on pitches after a while. Just as Pitchers will find sweet spots. But only a coach knows what is in his own head. Mind over matter my friends.

Watch and learn. That's what will make a great team."

It's anyone's guess as whom Coach Lamm will pitch, until that guy walks to the mound and warms up!In the words of Forrest Gump,

"Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what your gonna get."

or was it "Sometimes you feel like a nut and sometimes you don't !"

PRETTY GOOD QDIZZLE. I GUESS WE'LL SEE TONIGHT. NICE GUMP QUOTE

  13. QUOTE(qdizzle151b @ May 7 2007 - 07:42 AM) 826453278I think he did pretty good. He didn't give up over 4 hits and only walked 3 or 4. I imagine him, Luke Buttrum, or Brock Glass will start today.

WHY SAVE GOBBLE FOR TUESDAY? HE DOMINATED GILES LAST TIME WHY WOULDNT THEY PITCH HIM AGAIN?
