DCR won't make it past OS.
What makes you say that?? Tell me about OS - I have seen nothing on CoachT about this game and am wondering what kind of team OS has??
-
FYI, we all had same color and no more than 2 inches thick. Not a violation and we had no wrist bands.
Pretty sure there is a rule about the logo - even though the same color the nike logo is likely the issue - also the issue is that Northwest Officials have allowed it - not that new officials enforced the rule like they are supposed to.
And while I'm here - BullShark was on the money about officials - they were not great but it was equally distributed. Riverside girls are a hardworking bunch and over the 35 years I have been playing/coaching/watching girls basketball - I'll take hard work over talent to win big games - but I love to watch a game with great defense
-
I know Riverside went to the state tournament in 1973 when I was a 7th grader. Have they been since?
This will be the first time since that visit according to Coach Courtney tonight.

Bolivar comes from behind and beats Lady Trojans 55-54. Any other games complete in this region?
-
Will this Region semis and finals be back at Adamsville?? or at another location??
-
Where will this region be played??

The "expanded" postseason with it's repeated chances to advance despite not having won the district or region creates the possibility for what is being alleged here. All that's then needed to compromise the integrity of the games and the young people playing them is a coach without ethics.
Two teams are plenty to advance from the district to the region; then only the region champion moves on to sub-state; and you wind up with a final 4. Alternatively, you could do away with sub-state, and have the 8 region champs comprise the state tournament field.
Totally agree !!!!

As a former coach, I admit considering "throwing" of a game for seeding in the region because we all know that some districts are stronger than others and 3 & 4 in some can beat 1 & 2 in others. However, when it came game time - I could never do it and if I had, I SURE WOULD NOT HAVE INVOLVED KIDS. I could make coaching decisions that would affect the outcome without asking players to shoot at the side of the backboard or dribble back over the center court. I am appalled that a coach would either ask or allow players to play in such a manner.

TSSAA has moved Region to start on Monday so they have thru Sat. to complete Districts. So no worries

At Christmas I felt like Dyersburg would make the final 8 but would struggle to compete at the big dance. However, the last 2 weeks have seen much improved defense and team play. They are very athletic and every player on the floor can shoot the 3 with 4 or 5 girls that shoot it WELL consistently. If they can get over the initial bought of nerves early - they may surprise some people in the boro.

4/4 vs Halls and 4/11 vs. Crockett Co. were rained out and will not be rescheduled - please remove from Dyersburg Softball schedule. Also the Covington game from 4/18 is rescheduled for 4/24 - remove the St. Benedicts game on that day - had to be canceled to make up district game.
Also Gibson Co and Crockett are showing as District Contests - they are in the other side of district and do not count on district records - if that can be edited - that would be great!!
Thanks!!!

First of all, congrats to GC for securing another District win. Well deserved!!! As far as the OC vs. Haywood game, not surprised really. I often wonder why high school sports seem to have unwritten rules that differ from sports on other levels. I am referring to the OC vs. Haywood game. If we all recall, we witnessed the Indianapolis Colts this year sit starters and give up a perfect season only to fall short of the main prize. But in the Colt's coaching staff's eyes, this was the best route for them to get to the Superbowl. That part worked. I am not sure if the OC coach threw this game, but if he did, should he be faulted for doing what he was hired to do and that is to get to the 'boro' any way he sees fit. Sure it may backfire, but it also may work. I am pretty sure the OC coach realizes his team is more likely to beat Westview (no easy task!!) on any given night than GC. We will have to wait until the tourneys unfold before those questions are answered.
One other issue. I can't believe the outstanding talent that we are witnessing in West Tennessee right now in girls basketball. Heather Butler (a class act!!!), Chassidy Fussell, and Amber Rechis. There will not be three of this caliber coming through at the same time for some time to come. I have a problem with the fan's reaction to Fussell. Everyone understands her demeanor on the court and it does rub some people the wrong way. But respect her basketball abilities and the time she puts in to practicing (I hear she is in the gym all the time). The BOO's are uncalled for players of this talent level. I couldn't believe I noticed an older gentleman wearing a Westview shirt last night at OC clapping and yelling comments toward Fussell as she walked in front of him. That was classless. I thank each of you talented players for allowing me to see your hard-earned talents. I hope you three I mentioned, as well as others I could mention, go on to be huge successes!!!!
WELL SAID!!!!

I went to the Dyersburg tournament today. I must admit, Liberty is playing some good basketball right now. I really thought North Side would beat Liberty by about 10 points, but Liberty pulled it out in the end. Bolivar and Liberty are both very dangerous teams for any of the 13AA teams. Those 2 14AA schools have something that the 13AA schools don't have and that's athleticism in the 1-5 spots on the floor!
I agree totally - when the Northside game began I thought they would win but that didn't happen.
I also agree with the athleticism of the 14AA schools. However, I thought there was no way Poplar Bluff or Dyersburg could have defended the Liberty inside game to win the championship of the tournament but PBluff won by 5 or so. Didn't see the championship game so I don't know how either team played, but if Poplar Bluff defeated Liberty - it makes me think the 13AA teams should be able to do it also. Haven't seen Bolivar play, so I don't know about them. Should be a great region tourney!!

Tuesday's Schedule:
1:00 Lake Co/Covington
2:30 Munford/USJ
Semis:
4:00 Liberty/JNS
7:00 DHS/Poplar Bluff
-
Anybody have a schedule they can post for Fri/Sat @ Westview??
-
Crockett Co. beat Carver and Dyersburg beat Fairley - both are headed to the boro!!
-
no, are YOU kidding ME?? Lipscomb was shouting, calling names, and calling the Dyersburg team "a bunch of rednecks." If you honestly think it was just to get him out of the way, ur crazy. He could have went around him, but instead, he just decides to push him. and also, where does a brother come into play, i don't recall anything like that
Just wanted to clear up part of this thread - the incident with the brother of a player does not have anything to do with the David Lipscomb game - unrelated and should not be brought up on this board.
As to the sportsmanship of the David Lipscomb players - I will just say they showed how much class they DO NOT have.

Is this only for the A game or will the AA game be on also??

Friday night's sectional game between Mitchell and Dyersburg will be played at Dburg @ 6:30

That's great! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> 35 different lineups!!! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
Heard Wilder did well on the mound.......who you think will pitch Wednesday?
Oh, another question....heard that wins tonight meant state bound....or is that wrong. Cause I'm thinking you could hardly lose next two games and still get to state tourney.
Win tonight means both advance to substate round - must win on Friday to advance to state. Wed game give winner home field on Friday night - loser will travel to Memphis (I assume)

Not sure, but I think DC was named as an alternate site. Hopefully the weather predictions are exaggerated and will bypass our area.
i hope DC is not an alternate site! its a terrible playing surface.
