  1. I think they had played several days in a row, Jenkins legs were probably gone...Fresh legs, nobody, NOBODY shuts him down.

When Jenkins and the Tennessee Tigers were beaten in Memphis (by maybe 3 or 4 points) by the Hoopers and the famous memphis referees, It was the Tigers 15th game in 10 days, having already played tournaments in Indianapolis amd Louisville. Jenkins had played even more games because he went straight to Indianapolis from the Lebron James camp. Not making excuses just stating facts. Pro teams don't play that kind of schedule.

  2. I've seen both teams play in The Siegel and Harpeth play day. CPA will have to come to play against LA. LA has a deeper bench and plays with more intensity as a whole than CPA. Hunter Miller is the real deal for CPA and their most consistent player. Miller is going to need David Anderson, Will Chapman, Matt Zelnik and the rest of the team to step their game up a notch to beat LA. Has the makings of a great game or could be a long night for CPA if they underestimate LA. JMO.

  3. I saw the Ballerz play several times this summer and yes with my own eyes. I was at Tournaments in Houston, Las Vegas, Indianapolis, Louisville, Memphis, North Carolina, Atlanta, Augusta, and Orlando. Were you? The Ballerz did not play in the Peach Jam, that is for the top 24 Nike teams. They played in Augusta but it was not the Peach Jam. I will say that was probably their best tournament of the year. I saw the best teams in the Nation and the Ballerz was not a top 25 team, a vey good team absolutely, but definitely not one of the 25 best teams in the nation. Again I stand by my statement and back it up by actually seeing hundreds of 17U teams play this summer all over the US, and once again the rankings you refer to were done by the Ballerz head coach.

And absolutely agree on all your statements on CJ.

  4. This comment has nothing to do about CJ because I think he is a heck of a ball player, but you can not put much stock in the AAU ranking because it was the Ballerz head coach doing the rankings. There was not an AAU team in Tennessee that was a top 25 team in the nation, only because the really good players were spread out on to many teams in Tennessee.

  5. the truth HURTS!!!!! not that i did say i love both of them as players, but i was too high on them.

Thats why you are not coaching college basketball. As far as offers for Mason, you can go to Unapproved Website and see about half of them. The other half have come from seeing him play in July. Guess not everybody shared the same opinion as some of the posters on this thread. Let me see here your opinion or the collegs coaches opinion. Hmmm wonder which has more creedence.

This will be my last post on this subject but I will leave Legend and other posters on this thread one more Pearl.

It is better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a FOOL, than to open your mouth and REMOVE ALL DOUBT!!!!!

  6. Name a player on that Memphishoopers.com team besides Buckner who didn’t play & John David Little who I told you about MTSU. You no when John David Little got that offer after he made Jenkins look horrible on defense in this game. I call them no names because no one no who they are but me and some Memphis people.

Memphishoopers took it to Tennessee y all night. The Tennessee Y didn’t deserve to be on the same floor with them. Another thing the Y beat them by 2 in Houston in Double OT. Jenkins had a good game. My good friend coach Anthony coach them this time and the hoopers killed the Y before letting them get back in it later. Talk what you wont to but I no the facts. The facts are John David Little a no-name player looked better than Jenkins. Tyler Stone a no-name player killed Z. Mason. The hoopers just got thru playing in another tourney themselves before they played in the battle of the bluff.

Tell them guys to make plays not excuses like you. Lol!!!

Whatever, if ignorance was an olympic event you would get the gold medal.

  7. this post is so funny. tennessee y played this same hoopers team in houston and only won by 2 in double ot. did they play 15 games this time also. lol!!! pluse reggie buckner didnt play for the hoopers in this game. tennessee y lost to a bunch of no names lead by john david little mtsu commit

They were definitely not a bunch of no names, I know several players on that team and you show your ignorance and disrespect to those players by calling them no names. You yourself just stated they had an MTSU commit. Again even being their 15th game in 10 days, if the game were played anywhere but Memphis, the Tigers would have won. The Tigers were also without Demonte Simpson and Blake Jenkins, Josh Lee played with a broken finger on his shooting hand, Hunter Miller was playing the whole month with mono. Things arent always what they seem. So maybe before people start bashing John Jenkins and Z Mason maybe they ought to know the facts. John Jenkins has signed with Vanderbilt and Z Mason has over 20 basketball offers so evidently the college coaches don't agree with the ignoramus that started this thread. Oh and by the way Z Mason did not play in Houston against the Hoopers when they had Reginald Buckner and lost.

  8. Just to set the record straight on John Jenkins and Z Mason and the Hoopers win over the Tennessee Tigers. When the Tigers played the Hoopers in Memphis, that was their 15th game in 10 days and third city they played in. Playing in Indianapolis, Louisville and then Memphs. The Tigers did not have much energy the first half. They ended up only losing by 4, and the only thing that kept the Tigers from winning the game was the good ole players in the black and white stripes. The refs were so bad against the Tigers and on purpose and they knew it. They would go by the Tigers bench and laugh after making a riduculous call against them.

  9. With the rise in prices including the price of education I have a question that I cant seem to find an answer to. I know there is a 5 year window for schools to have co-op program with a school that has a sport that another school doesnt have. This means if a existing student wants to play a sport he would have to transfer schools and sit out a year if no address move took place. What happens to a students eligibility if the school he attends no longer exists. I know this sounds crazy, but some of these smaller private schools are going to struggle to keep the doors open if the economic factors continue to worsen.

If student A school closes up shop at the end of his sophomore year does student A have to sit out a year of competition even though he had no idea this was going to take place. I havent got a solid answer yet and was wondering has this situation come up any where else in the state.

No they do not have to sit out. Montesorri Academy in Nashville shut down their high school a few years back and none of those students had to sit out a year.

  10. Although the Ballerz do have a tendency to play to the level of the competition (who doesn't) they have "consistently" won their pool in every major national tournament they played going 3-0 and making it to at least the sweet 16 or final 4 of championship bracket play where they have had a few heart break 2-5 point losses to top teams. They do not have a bad loss. This is not easy to do. With their team speed on offense and defense, multiple shooters and scorers, good coaching and enough size and strength to keep other teams big guys from going off they are a very hard team for any one to beat. These rankings are amazingly subjective but from what I have seen you could easily justify this ranking plus or minus a few spots. If they can hold it together and get that break through win over a top ten team by the end of the summer I could even see them moving up.

If you don't agree with the rankings why don't you do something constructive like giving an alternative and rationale instead of picking out one team (the Ballerz) to bash.

Just maybe if you would read all the posts you would see I was not bashing anyone and certainly did not single out the Ballerz, I was merely pointing out that I thought the Tennessee teams needed to be more consistent. Sorry I should not have included the Ballerz. What was I thinking. I do think it is interesting how much press the Ballerz team gets especially for a team that supposed to be underrated, and yet they appear to have no chinks in their armor and are a destined to be a top ten team in the nation.

I have seen the Ballerz play several times this year and they are a very good team and a good set of kids. I wish them all the best. They have went from an underrated team to a top national team. Several of you have put them on a pretty high pedestal. I just hope for the boys sake they can live up to those expectations.

  11. Wrong thread buddy... The rankings have not been posted on CoachT.com... Already started a negative thread on another site... Way to be completely off topic and negative on a thread about a great accomplishment of a group of hard working and underrated 17 year old kids...

Whatever, and I was not being negative about the players at all as I did acknowledge they are playing the best ball right now of the Tennessee teams. Any time you win a state championship, it is a great accomplishment. Just not convinced of the the national ranking.

But you can't really say you have a group of underrated kids if they are ranked 15th in the nation!!!!

I was also addressing Tennessee basketball in general. The TN teams have to show more consistency in the national tournaments.

And agree I should have started a different thread to voice these opinions.

    Thank you for correcting me.

  12. Help me understand Shulman's National rating system. The Ballerz have not beaten any of the top 20 teams listed. They beat the Y, who did not have Leslie McDonald, and they barely beat the Franklin Rage by 3 in the state semis. I'm not saying Shulman is biased and I agree the Ballerz have been playing some good ball, but to say they are the 15th best team in the nation. That is seriously patting ones self on the back. To be real honest I have seen most of the good 17U teams play and I don't think there is a Tennessee Team right now that is a top 20 team in the nation. That includes the Memphis Y, Tennessee Y, Ballerz or anyone else. No consistency.

  13. He'll be ranked higher than 32 by the end of the Summer. He's VERY good! He's a 5 star player but according to rivals he's 4-star. I've seen several 5 star players play now and he's just as even as those guys. His all around game is awesome. I hope he ends up at Chapel Hill, I know that's for sure!

Leslie actually was ranked in the top 20 but was dropped to 32 in the latest Rivals rankings

  14. Do you actually know what a cheap shot is? Cheap shots are things done to cause bodily harm such things as throwing aggressive elbows, a shot in the nose, and undercutting a player going up for layup/dunk!

#20 throwing aggressive elbows all night long. Watch the game film. By your definition a cheap shot.

  15. The reason there was a foul discrepency was because DC was fouling more. It comes with playing the aggressive defense they play. The refs could have called even more on DC for several cheap shots. #20 for DC was throwing cheap shots all night and should have fouled out a lot earlier than he did.

  16. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

Hate that you missed the ending.

Any coach that is a real coach will fight for his team when he knew they were wronged. The ref closest to the last shot held up 2 fingers for a two and the one furthest away held up his arms for a three. They gave the three and the refs left the court. All he was wanting was an explanation of how one calls it a two and the other a three, not to mention the time clock travesty that was never explained as well.

  17. Actually Mason, Miller and Anderson have played against the memphis guys since 4th grade. They have all played against Justin Blake, Leslie McDonald, Elliot Williams, M.J. Brown, Johnnie Williams, Farakhan Hall, Gentry Hines, Greg Wooten, Marlon Brown just to name a few. So they do know what they are up against. Unfortunately in Nashville you do not have the advantage of playing many games against the kind of team speed DC has. To me it will be a matter of how quick they can adjust to it as to how they fare, if CPA handles the pressure then DC will have to make the adjustments. It should be a fun game to watch as well as a fun tournament to watch. The 2A tournament is loaded with talent and all good teams, each capable of winning it all.

  18. I will have to agree with tigerhoops. While I agree Antioch did dominate CPA's bench they by no means dominated CPA's core group of players. Miller had no problems with the Antioch pressure and he and Anderson were wearing them out from the three. I will say Antioch thrives on getting the ball up the floor and you better get back on defense, which I think for the most part CPA did again when their starters were in.

  19. At this point in the year I don't think it matters who beat who. I think this group of teams are all capable of winning the gold ball. Probably as competitive a group of teams as seen in years. I think it will come down to whos hot and whos not on a game by game basis. The bottom line is each team played and earned their right to play at state, so good luck to all.

  20. Yes, CPA (other than Z) did not shoot well. GC did a good job of contesting shots off drives that CPA normally gets wide open looks on. Also, CPA missed 2-3 layups they should have made due to contested shots. Miller missed jumpers he normally makes and was off from the 3 point range. GC also had a couple of possessions where they got 2-3 offensive rebounds which added to the rebound difference.

But to win a game when you lose by that large a margin in rebounding shows how well CPA is coached and how hard and smart the players play. When GC went in the zone (correctly) to make CPA shoot and control Z, they still were able to be patient and make hard passes into the post or get good looks.

They also played really good pressure defense on the ball which sometimes opens up the offensive rebounding for the other team.

Make no mistake, GC is a good team, but CPA is a little better, IMO.

Miller was off from the 3, but only took 3 jumpers for the night, made one, was fouled on the other in which he hit two free throws and missed one. As was stated in a previous post, the game plan was obviously to get Z the ball and make Giles County stop him. CPA was able to win but I think CPA will struggle at Murfreesboro if they do not get all five starters involved in the offense.
