the coalfield and midway regional game was awful! it was pathetically ump'd. midway would have won if there wouldn't have been so much homecooking by the homeplate umpire. his strike zone for coalfield was the size of the ball and for midway if it was ANYWHERE close it was a strike. midway deserved the win. go greenwaves.

dude i dont have any problem .somebody else said the players were lazy and i said that comes from coaching.people there say that pitchers dont even throw bullpens between starts and some starts are 2 or 3wks apart.and jv players are doing nothing to get better for next yr.just sounds like not all is being put into it.YES they are winning longway to go.didnt mean to sound like i didnt like him.they have talent and wd love to see them go all the way!!!!THAT TEAM IS MOSTLEY SENIORS AND THINK THEY ###### BE DOING MORE AS COACHES IF JV PLAYERS DONT GET HELP WHATS BASEBALL GOING TO BE LIKE NEXT YR .ITS BEEN SAID MAYBE NO TEAM.SORRY JUST WONDERING.IM SURE THAT COACH IS A NICE GUY.

In a small school you have to play from year to year and try to get your subs some playing time. Schools like Coalfield, Oakdale, Sunbright do not have the luxury of have a JV team, Freshman Team. They may not have a team next year. It is all based on #'s

What is your problem with coach wilson? Lazy? He worked hard in high school and college (I think he played at ETSU) He is winning! What would you like to see better?

Coalfield could not play dead in a western!!! No strength, No speed, and most of all NO HEART!

I'm still lost man, moms and players crying about playing time? Has there ever been a sports team that players didnt want to play more or moms didnt want their kids to play more? I was on the field playing, was captain, I thought I knew most of what was going on between the players and coaches on and off the field that year...... Can you tell me a player that should have been playing more on that team that didnt? I mean sounds like you know more than me about that team........... So fill us in.

 

Those 3 games we lost, Midway= didnt get in the right offense until it was 2 late in the game. As the 2nd round showed that. Greenback= we had that game won, but they was just the better team that night. CAK= Our defense coach kept us running a cover "4" and we as players tried to do our own thing, but CAK picked up apart. Still put us 49points, if you remember it was 49-49 with 6:00 left to go.

Sounds like you have no respect for nobody but yourself. It is always the coaches fault then and now. Maybe you should have another sit down and not practice. Coaches bad at Cumberland also?

Haha..... yea me and my new lady friend will be there. Its nice to see you understand things, never was I blaming you for not having much production in the back field. When "me" a fan can sit on the sideline and call the plays about 75% of the time, I mean something needs to change there. I've told everyone this that I would have Noah at QB, Sean at RB, you at FB, running the option. By the 4th quarter giving the ball to a 240~lb FB takes a tole on the defense. I honestly say that your offensive cord has cost you probably 2 of the loses. Yes, my senior year we made Ted look like a pro off. cord, but that was all he had to do was to put the ball in 1 of 3 kids hands and it had a chance to score. You guys dont have that, compare it to UT as right now we dont have that game-changing homerun hitter. But we still putting up points and moving the ball.

 

Someone said something about me my senior year also, didnt look at name idrk. There was no jealous on that 2004 team, I can assure you of that. Yes, I wanted the ball every play, but what kind of athlete are you if you dont want the ball as much as possible? I'm sure my buddy MPG thought the same, thats not being jealous, I never cared about my TDs, Yards or anything. I did have a problem when we lost to Greenbak in the season though. Even MPGs dad told me they should have gotten the ball to me more, I touched the ball 3x and scored 2x. Yes, I was upset because in my mind if I would have gotten the ball more we would have won, but hey thats just me being a immature high school kid. Looking back on things like that just brings a smile to me, seeing how much I've matured over the past few years.

 

JK you been running that J-train any? Dont act like you dont know what I'm talking about, because I know how all you youngens are acting at school. Might wanna adress that in a team meeting, seems the kids minds might be on girls instead of football.

I am just an outsider looking in for many years. Coalfield had problems in 04 with Moms and players crying about playing time. (almost destroyed team in mid season.) Some people on here are "the pot calling the kettle black"

It all starts at the top. Do not blame assistant coaches for things that the head coach has the power to change.

After seeing the coalfield and wartburg film, I thought Hal Mumme was coaching Wartburg! Where is Polarbear when you need him?

I have no dog in this fight. It is stupid that this is made into a Coalfield/Wartburg debate. Wartburg needs a new coach! I hope that they find what they are looking for. As for Coalfield Garry Kreis has had good teams for many years without outside money that I am aware of. Wartburg should beat Coalfield 3 out of four years 400+ students vs. 190. Speaking of recruiting, you do not have to recruit when you are winning. Maryville is a prime example. Kids try to go there because of tradition. Good luck to Wartburg on finding a quality coach and getting their program back on track.

They were pretty good in the 90's: 9 district titles, 5+ region titles, state tournament 91,93,95,98. State Champions 98.

Coalfield is a very young team. In baseball any team can win a game they should not. Could they beat Rockwood? yes. Odds? Not very good at this time. Rockwoods program is at a point where Coalfields was in the 1990's. Coalfield will get better as the year goes on. Good pitching is where Coalfield will struggle.

Coalfield has a lot to prove!!! They were once a Class A power in the East. For the past 5 years they have been average at best. In their defense keeping a top baseball program running on 90 boys from a small high school is a challenge. They still have a lot of improving to do to get into the form that the program use to be. Their new coach Jason Wilson will do a great job. I think they are on the right track to getting back to a winning program.

coach lunsford and his son have had 200 calls about moving but no one wants to take on the PUJO responsibility/liability.

So talent pool is good right now in Hampton no need to jump ship like years past

It does not matter to me. I was just posting to show that things happen everywhere : coalfield, Cloudland, Oak Ridge, DB. People need to quit slamming and let the kids play the game. There have been Shady things happen at all schools

Any student athlete can practice and play in JV games even if not eligble for the varsity level.

Loyalty works the same everywhere, Talent runs out people SWITCH to NC instead of NC kids SWITCHING to TN. Kids with NC tags playing ball at TN schools in the past
