These women on this Haywood NFHS broadcast are hilarious. You can tell them to go home now Haywood administrators because their season is over.
Congrats to Tony Brunetti and the Pearl-Cohn Firebirds

Not shedding tears over here Potts. I'm glad the boys made it as far as they did.
I guess I am this Potts fellur. I'll go with it just to keep you entertained. Enjoy your bus ride back to Blount County.

Call off the dogs KC. You're killing them. JSamson is crying a river of tears already.

Say what? Talent is there, go sell some more cars, that's what you know.
If you think Maryville is on Oakland's level talent wise you're crazy.

You nailed it.
It's exactly what GR saw at Riverdale after the 2005 season when JR left Alcoa for Georgia.

Oakland is just way better than Maryville and that’s not taking anything away from the Rebs. The talent is very noticeable….
Facts! GQ got out when the writing was on the wall. This isn't on DH or the coaches at all. It's a talent gap and it's not even close. Oakland will call off the dogs when it hits 38-7 or 45-7.

If Oakland (when Oakland) lines up and runs power with #5 out of an I backfield look it's a foot race.

Oh ok. I’ve got a senior on the high school team. I also played for Coach Craig. I thought you might be him! Lol
No he’s definitely not on CoachT. He is now the director of schools in Stewart County and was the principal of the high school prior to that. I remember when he was the basketball coach at Waverly and you guys always had some very strong teams during those years. What year did you graduate?

Thats it! It’s highly recommended from this 40 year old fat guy.

Yea lots of changes coming! Did you happen to coach at Waverly at some point?
I did not.
I currently coach at Stewart County and prior to now I have coached at Fairview, Stewart County (first tenure), Kenwood, Lebanon, and Cheatham County. I even did radio broadcasts for Cheatham County and Sycamore many moons ago and have done public address announcements at Stewart County, Fairview, Kenwood, and Cheatham County. I’ve coached baseball at Fairview and Stewart County and even coached softball at Cheatham County. Out of desperation I even wound up coaching track & field at Fairview a few years ago as well. This is the 20th year that I’ve been involved with high school athletics since I got lured into doing it back in 2003. It’s been a real blessing to be involved with high school athletics and to see so many young men/women grow and become the successful people that they’ve been able to become these last 2 decades.
-
Back 15-20 years ago when I was doing radio broadcasts for Cheatham County and Sycamore every time we went to Giles County there was this really good BBQ place by the stadium. I can’t remember the name of it to save my life but Alcoa fans should definitely drop by and test it out this evening when they get to Pulaski.

Yup, Alcoa lost by 1 point in 2011, 2 points in 2012 and 7 points in 2014.
That’s crazy.

very very impressive run.....want ever be touched unless Aluminum City keeps touchin it.....but the GOAT is now with the North Brainerd Levee Swamp Buccaneers....time will soon tell
....as most of what howdoitknow spoken....biasly of course...but all truth....except one tiny part
....them Tin Heads didnt lose that gold ball contest to them Presbyterians in 2014 because of a boot QB.....argurably one of Aluminum City's best 3 teams ever lost that contest cause 3 reasons....1. beaten & battered from contest they were involved in the week prior.....2. that stud bell cow RB coaches put 54+ totes put on his legs the previous week so the twisters could get to the gold ball contest....3. Hockaday, Omer, Orr
....and howdoitknows team massacred the presbyterian the followin season cause the presbyterians probably didnt have 2 seniors playin in that game
...expand that trophy case....another Gold BAll is comin
Booger just sayin
Alcoa beat CPA soundly in 2013 and 2015. The 2014 game was 7-0 and there’s a difference between missing a Guard or a Receiver vs missing a Quarterback.
I have seen Alcoa play CPA, Lipscomb, DCA, Goodpasture, Knox Webb, Notre Dame, McCallie, CAK, Austin-East, Fulton, Pearl-Cohn, Milan, East Nashville, Covington, Huntingdon, Tyner, Elizabethton, White House, Knox West, Giles County, Greeneville, Red Bank, Knox Catholic, Cleveland, Dobyns-Bennett, and I’m sure that I’m neglecting to mention so many other State Championship caliber programs that have won Gold Balls or been on a level to compete for Gold Balls in the last 20 years.
Outside of Maryville I think that Alcoa has been highly successful against all of them during that time.
-
I think I saw where Fairview plays Waverly the week before they play us next year.
I was surprised that Fairview wasn’t playing Page. I was also surprised that Sycamore isn’t playing Harpeth. I was also surprised that White House Heritage is no longer playing White House.

2021: 14-1 = STATE CHAMPS
2022: 12-1 = TO BE DETERMINED…
Alcoa’s near two decade run has to be the winningest in the entire nation over the last 19 years. I cannot imagine there’s another football program in the country that’s been as dominant as Alcoa has been in their respective classification during that time.
I still remember in 2011 and 2012 Alcoa lost two of the all time greatest high school football games ever played to CAK when they went back to back. They were possibly the greatest offensive machine in TSSAA history those two years.
in 2014 Alcoa fell to CPA because they had to start a first time varsity QB in the title game and the final ended up 7-0. The next year when they met again it was a massacre.
Alcoa is probably on their way to winning a 16th State Championship In 19 Years. I just marvel at how they have been able to continue to keep their players hungry and driven throughout the last 2 decades. People knock them for playing 3A football but honestly I’ve seen them play many of the DII Private School Powers/6A Powers/5A Powers/4A Powers/KY Powers and win at a very high level in those contests as well.
Their coaches, community, and student athletes aren’t commended enough for the level of success that they have sustained for such a long period of time.

This game will be on MyTV30
MyTV30 really only had 2 options for games to televise this week. They could have done Oakland hosting Maryville or Giles County hosting Alcoa. The rest of the games are in East TN or West TN.

They will probably bring that loud all brass band. They will play when your team has the ball which is against the rules.Tell the qb to tell the white hat to make them stop or its a penalty
You have got to be kidding me right? Please tell me that’s a joke. When I went to Smith County a few weeks ago there was someone blowing a horn in the stands non-stop the entire game. Are you saying that’s okay but when the other team has a band that does it then it should result in a penalty flag being thrown?

How do you Waverly fans like your new region in 2A? I was shocked to see that they put Waverly and Camden in separate regions for the next 2 years.

Good Luck to Coach Brunetti and the Pearl-Cohn Firebirds this week. This will be the 9th time he’s coached in a State Semifinal Game since taking over at Pearl-Cohn.

I was one of the ones who stated it during the preseason. Alcoa will be favored but it will not be a cake walk like it was a year ago. Giles County is a handful at home and I am sure The Brickyard will be rocking on Friday night. I am thinking that this is the game that I will attend this week. David O'Connor & Co. will not just be "shell shocked" like they were last year when the teams met in Blount County.
Alcoa: 42
Giles County: 21

Congrats to both teams on great postseason runs.
East Nashville had to win at Waverly, at Smith County, and at Covington.
Pearl-Cohn had to win at Lexington and at Haywood.
Good Luck to both teams next week at the State Championships.
