1. Two throwers said that the P-C girl used a shot that had the no. 8 on it!!

Went up to the meet at Austin Peay last weekend and I have to say the throwing event were run so poorly that with two flights of boys and two flights of girls in each event, it took them 5 hours to get threw them all. I??™ve been around throwing events for a long time and have never seen anything like it. But I digress.

The meet itself was pretty good, had some good throwers there from 3 states.

Ensworth had 2 kids throwing the Discus over 150. Cooper (JR) 155 and Settles (SR) 150 took 1st and 3rd. Frazier from Daviess County in Kentucky was 2nd with a 152. Lavergne??™s Betts and McAdoo came in 5th and 6th

On the girls side; Battles from Pearl Cone marked a 115??™3 > Washington from Clarksville Northeast went 102??™3 and Britt from Lavergne went 97??™5 (1-2-3)

In the shot it started and ended with Frazier from Daviess. He went 54 feet and his throws were not good for him. I watched him hit 57 and 58 feet in warm-ups, no problem. From what his coach told me, he has a marked a 58 '9 this year. He will be a WKU Hill Topper next year.

Not much else more to speak of in the shot, the two Ensworth kids were around 45 and 43. Betts at Lavergne took 6th but had a bad, bad throwing day. He only went 41 feet or so and I??™ve seen him go 47.

On the girls side; Battles From Pearl Cone, again, took 1st with a 37??™5> Curry from MLK took 2nd at 36??™6 > and Prince from not sure where took 3rd with 32??™6

On a side note: The Lavergne as a team took 2nd place in this meet. So my earlier question to another poster as to the strenth of Lavergne's team and his projection of them winning their district, I will now retract. They look pretty strong.

    See you in the ring

  2. QUOTE(khia127 @ May 24 2007 - 11:19 PM) 826466602PEARL COHN ARE THE RUNNERS UP IN THE STATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I BET WE WIN IT NEXT YEAR THOUGH! I KNOW WE WILL BECAUSE WE ONLY LOST BY 1.5 POINTS THIS YEAR!!!!!!!!

Dont you lose your top two sprinters this year?

  3. QUOTE(LEONARDSLOSERS @ May 22 2007 - 10:42 AM) 826464529Mark it down Austin -East girls win the 2007 State Championship. With close to 100 points. Had they been smart and did a pentathlon they would have won easily.

Austin East girls will win A-AA with 90 to 100 points. Mitchell and Pearl Cohn will be fighting for second between 60 and 70 points.

  4. Waller's six event day was the toughest I've seen at State. LJ,TJ,HJ,100,400,200. His low 21 performance to win the 200 at the end of the meet showed the conditioning that Coach Lewis gave him in training. Ramon was sick the day of the State meet and still won the 1,4, and 2. I think Cantrell's four event wins at State gave his school the team title as well.

  5. Moore Middle has given Hillsboro many top quality football players over the years. Moore does have some influence on why Hillsboro has talent every year to go along with good coaching. I feel sure Maryville has a good feeder program as well.

  6. Hillsboro is open zone. They also have what many say is the top public middle school in town (Moore Middle). They (Moore) have won the City in football (along with just about all other sports) many many times. They have good coaches but they also are in a good situation with their main feeder school and open zone.

  7. Interesting news. Talked to a coach who was at a meet against Pearl Cohn (girls). He said they (Pearl) did not show anything good in the sprints as if the girls from last years team are not running for the new coach. However, maybe they have not come out for track yet

I'd say Mitchell is the team to bring the team title home.

Pearl Cohn only lost their second best shot thrower from last year. However, they have a new head coach. Not sure of the background of the new coach and knowledge of the sport. The boys and girls teams were both disqualified in the Regional cross country meet for uniform violations with this new coach. It will be interesting to see how Pearl does this spring. The talent is there! Will the new coach get them to their potential?

  9. Let's get ready to rumble.

    Go Burro's

Looking forward to the game. Enjoy watching their (Hillsboro's) new offense. The Wing-t was rather boring to watch over the years. They need to go for the points when they get they chance this time. Last week they decided not to go for a field goal and went for it on fourth down early in the game. If they are driving down the field by running the ball, dont throw it on the 8 yard line and throw an interception that the other team runs back for a TD. That game last week should not have been close (vs Mt. Juliet). Hillsboro gave up the ball 4 times last week and still won. You dont hear that stuff happen much in the playoffs. If Hillsboro just needs to do their thing and they will win.
