  1. Help me understand...are you saying the financial aid is not provided if there is not a need as if the family can afford to go there on their own ? Also, where do you go to look up this information ?

Lastly, he does not need to recruit. If someone is a good athlete and an above average student that can do the work at EHS they come look at the school on their own. Financial aid is provided if there is need and they qualify. EHS provides financial aid in the same range as all the other D2 schools (its public record just go look it up)

  2. 1) Cheatham - Coaching and consistent good program, experience returning, always there at the end

    2) Harpeth - Experience returning, still questionable can they hold it together, seem to fold every year

    3) Sycamore - Experienced and capable, but never seem to finish

    4) Creek Wood - Lost some, return some, best program and coaches in district

    5) Montgomery Central - Ought to be better, not a lot from here on the next 3 to worry about

    6) Stewart Co. - Don't know a lot, just Waverly and Fairview won't put up much

    7) Waverly - Lost a ton of experience, persistent underperformers even with experienced players, no size either

    8) Fairview - Lost their only real player, mayby somebody moved in, they will need all the help they can get

    More thoughts:

Cheatham - You have to respect their program, though most people don't like em and I don't really know why

Harpeth - The experience and somewhat of a tradition the last few years will carry em

C'Wood - Hands down the best people and who I would want coaching my daughters

Sycamore and Creek Wood a toss up, may well see Creek Wood 3rd, Sycamore lower, Sycamore disappoints every year in the end

MC and Stewart - Can swap also, jut time on their side they have been down for so long, decent coaching both

Waverly and Fairview - It will be a long season, make that several seasons, changes needed so the athletes want to play esp. Waverly

  3. Fish I pretty much agree with ya, though I put Creekwood up a little higher, absolutely good coaching there with enough returners. Harpeth just can't seem to close under this coach. Sycamore has got to prove they can stay solid through the tough district stretch, they always seem to falter there. I'd put Creekwood 2, Harpeth 3, Sycamore 4. Time will tell. I'd move Waverly to last in a tie with Fairview, it is going to be a long couple or three years for both clubs. Put MC ahead of both and the Lady Rebels will be one to contend with. Fill me in on the district realignment -- is Sycamore moving to the other region after this year ? If so, I bet the Pleasant View bunch will be gunning to get to the elusive state that the Bolivar and Libertys have kept a curse on them for so long on the boys side. On your boys rundown, I agree for the most part also.

  4. Like you said, you were not there. The other girl was on her when the timeout was called. Therefore, I know she heard the whistle blow, it right there at her. She shoved her when the ref turned his head. She is a freshmen and she DID learn a lesson. NOT TO PUSH UNTIL THE REF TURNS HIS HEAD. As far a playing team ball, she does. She didn't win 20 games by herself. I think she had HELP. When you are the point guard, I thought you were suppose to carry the ball. I thought anyway. As far as ill-advised shots, you wouldn't know if they were ill-advised or not because you don't know the plays. Maybe they were set up that way. They lost and its over. They did a wonderful job this year on making it this far. GOOD JOB GIRLS, HOLD YOU HEAD UP, AND KEEPING PLAYING.

I had to come back on this one too. I did see all the things that Papatiger said, she is good and has talent way above her years, but she made a choice and it cost you a trip to the Boro. All the good and talent is no-good if you resort to rough or unsporsting behavior, case in point here. And I for one will tell you that Papatiger calls it like it is, so let him have his opinion and disagree if you must, but do so respectfully. Unless the coach gets her under control, I predict it will happen again next year just like this year. Now, just get your boys to playing like they are capable and represent our region at the Boro, here's hoping the gold comes back to 12AA 5 years straight.

  5. First of all when I said 10, I didn't realize that Jasmine wasn't playing. Second, a win is a win. And don't you just love it?

Keep em going papatiger, I enjoy your posts. You are usually dead on with what you post and I guess people don't like to hear the truth sometimes. And, oh, enjoyed your call of the two games the other nite, you guys make it sound like you are having fun. I would agree that Bolivar better pick it up a few notches if they want to win state (boys) and for sure the girls are done tomorrow. If I was Rudesell that girl would sit the next game, don't care if state, substate or what, no excuse for that.

  6. Does anyone know if a Dickson County/Charlotte radio station will broadcast this game tonight?

The ESPN radio affiliate in Lexingtoin, WBFG 96.5 has been broadcasting all the region 6AA games, they have an internet feed if I remember correctly you could get it through CoachT at one time at this link, http://965wbfg.coacht.com/, not sure if it still works or not. I doubt their air signal would reach to Charlotte.

  7. I agree with papatiger on the way Sycamore handled things. No call for that. Put the best of Sycamore, Harpeth and any other team you want to add and 11AA will be one and done in regions as they have been for years. And, will always be that way. And, oh, I hope to be able to see Bolivar clip the War Eagles' wings, it will happen. And, I hope I'm there because they really deserve it. I normally pull for 11AA but not this year, only way would be Creek Wood, a class act, great coach, and good sports. That's my $0.02.

  8. From someone who has watched this young lady from the opponent's side since she was in middle school, I know she is a good player and I hope she is able to get back going and finish out strong, from what I have seen of her she is a competitor and will do just that. Good luck to Kaz and Perry Co.

  9. QUOTE(rolltide418 @ Feb 28 2007 - 09:19 PM) 826394050[/snapback]Sounds like it was a very exciting game. Does anyone know who the other members of the all region team were? Did anyone from Cheatham County make the team?

Forsythe and Hunter from Cheatham County, Johnson and McGill from Lexington, MVP Crayton from McNairy, Prather and Jarret I remember from Liberty, McNairy I did not get all the names. A very good game.

  10. Wow are you serious?? even if your prediction of harpeth over sycamore is correct, there is noway that anyone in that other region is going to be Harpeth or Sycamore beside Liberty. That district is down beside the power house in liberty South side will not even come close to beating sycamore and Bolivar over hapreth by 20? are you smoking crack my friend?

No my friend, just a long time observer of district 11 and occasionally district 12 basketball. Bolivar is too quick and athletic for Harpeth, not to mention probably the best coach in the state. Harpeth hasn't seen anything like they are in for, and yes I've seen Harpeth just tonight plus a couple other times this year. Harpeth will not be able to keep up with the pace that Bolivar will play at. District 11 heads above district 12, always has been and still is. State champions last 3 years soon to be 4th.

  11. I love the idea of the "Satellite Games" where the higher seeds get to host first round games in both the District & Regional Tournaments. That's the way it works in the Sectional as well so why not keep the trend going and reward teams for what they do in prior weeks.

This year in the District 11AA Tournament you get a HUGE ADVANTAGE by finishing as one of those top two teams. If you are #3 you do have a road game but in the Regionals you also are on the opposite side of the bracket as Liberty Tech. THEREFORE the advantage is really to finish as one of the top three seeds in the District 11AA Tournament.

You do not want to go to Liberty Tech and play that senior led team in what could potentially be their final home game in Jackson to open the Regional Tournament. TALK ABOUT A LONG BUSRIDE HOME FOR SOMEONE :o:thumb:

You could combine the best from Harpeth, Sycamore, Creek Wood, Stewart, Cheatham and not get within 20 points of Liberty. I've seen Harpeth and Liberty a bunch of times this year and Harpeth or whoever comes out of 11 as #1 seed's only hope is to finish #2 at region so they can go on to sectionals, but Liberty will take it all at Waverly. I can't wait to see district 12 make believers of the die-hard fans from Cheatham County. District 12 = best in state, District 11 middle of the pack.

  12. who are alot of these people.... we on the south of the county knew harpeth was going to run it and it shows with a 3 game lead in districts at the end of the season! ;)

You've got a good team and some good athletes. I don't think the other district will give you any problem at regions, however you are going to have to step it up at substate and beyond from what I saw the one time I saw you play this year, and have heard from others you have played. You're gonna have to have some more presence in the middle working the paint, Mandy and Richardson alone won't be enough to carry you through the state, but good luck anyways.

  13. I agree fully, Jimmy Young is a very good coach who has the experience and knowledge of the game that you don't see much of any more. I haven't seen MC play in the past few years, but I would not knock Coach Young because they have been down lately. Give me my choice and I'd take Young over any coach in the district, the Harpeth guy being my second. And, like you, Big Country, I am not acquainted with Coach Young, just recalling what I remember from some years ago and felt the need to defend him as I know he is a respected coach in this area.

I must say that I do not agree with your assessment of Jimmy Young whatsoever. That man has won countless district titles during his time as the head basketball coach at Montgomery Central. Central has been a bit "down" the last two years now but that doesn't mean he should be run out of town. Young is one of the few coaches in the midstate area who I'd say should be allowed to "step down under his own terms".

TRUST ME WHEN I SAY THAT THIS ISN'T COMING FROM JIMMY YOUNG'S BIGGEST PAL EITHER :D

  14. I haven't seen Harpeth play this year but unless they have drastically improved, they will not make it to the State tournament. I go to the State tournament every year to watch the finals and the teams I see are far above what we have in our District. It could be different this year as I said, I haven't seen any of them play other than Waverly, Creek Wood, Stewart, and Montgomery Central. The Sycamore, Harpeth, Cheatham Co. teams will need to be a whole lot better than last year and these teams to make it to state. I just don't think it will happen. Upsets happen though.

Papatiger, I agree with you. The Waverly team of a couple of years ago is as close as any 11AA team the last several years that were capable of playing at the state level. They just had to face the eventual state champs first to get there. I saw that game, and Liberty this year is even better than that Bolivar team, believe me. I do look for Harpeth and Sycamore to make some noise in the regions this year. Until realignment happens again, no teams from 11AA will get past 12AA. Like last year I look for it to be an all 12AA regions final, once again shutting out 11AA teams a chance to even go to the sectionals.

  15. I would put money on Coach Wilson not going one and out like last year. I am not saying we are going to win regions, but you can't say that 6-8 Lexington and 6-4 Bolivar who has gotten scored over 100 points in two games already this season and will probably get scored 100 points or more in two more games this season, can beat Harpeth.

Harpeth will play Liberty in the championship and make it to state this year. :(

HHSnumber1 fan you have a good point. I was not aware of Bolivar's record, but have seen them play and they are pretty good. Either way if you are #1 seed out of 11AA which I believe you will be you will still have to get by their #2 to get to the finals of the region. My bet would be Jackson Southside. Good luck, Harpeth has a good program both boys and girls and I would like to see a Liberty-Harpeth region final at Waverly. Assuming you did finish second in regionals, who are some teams you would likely match up with in the sectional to get to state ?

  16. Man that is impressive, I wonder if Harpeth would of won the tournament with Chase Baker. I cant wait til the next half of the season. And for district/regions to come around. ;)

Districts I agree Harpeth will do fine, but I am afraid it will be one and out at the region, Harpeth or nobody else in 11AA can stay with Liberty, Bolivar, Jackson Southside, McNairy, Lexington in 12AA.

  17. Well I hope I am wrong when I say this, but if Harpeth doesnt get there fast pace game down the way Johnson likes it then Harpeth may come out with a few district losses that they dont want and have never had, people from sycamore know what I am talking about. If sycamore and cheatham dont have there stamina up too its fullest then dont count on staying in the game, because you could keep our starting five in the whole game and they wouldnt get tired, kuddos to Coach Johnson for introducing CONDITIONING to Harpeth girls basketball. I hope the refs start to let everybody play(I hope its everybody and not just us) so we can get the games over with in less than 2 hours.

    1. Harpeth

    2. Sycamore

    3. Cheatham(dont be suprised if these top three teams split with each other.)

    4.Creekwood

5.Waverly(but they will get to the regionals, it will just take the district to realize that they need to step it up.)

    6.Stewart

    7.MCHS

    8.Fairview

Tell me about the new Harpeth coach, where from, experience, etc. I am sure it is posted somewhere, but what happened to their coach from the last few years, he seemed to have a successful program going, I am surprised to hear there was a coaching change there, definitely a lot of talent coming back also. Is the old Harpeth coach still in coaching somewhere ?

  18. For the first time in many years Waverly has more than one offensive threat. Four out of Waverly's Five starters are equal scoring threats. I will always put Harpeth on top, but I think Waverly will surprise some ppl this year and it's about time. With that being said I think its gonna look like this.

    Harpeth

    Cheatham

    Sycamore

    Waverly

    Mont. Central

    Creekwood

    Fairview

    Stewart Co

Does Waverly return any experience ? Last year they seemed to have trouble putting points up. Also, they did not have much size in the middle, has that changed ? I agree pretty much with the top 3 picks, after that it seems like a tossup for 4th, but I am basing mostly on what I saw from last year. Creekwood would be my 4th pick, then mayby Stewart or Waverly. I undersand Stewart Co. return most of their players, and Fairview lost most of their experience. How does Montgomery Central look ? This is really a tough district, the Cheatham County teams always are ready to play.

  19. For the first time in many years Waverly has more than one offensive threat. Four out of Waverly's Five starters are equal scoring threats.
