I believe he did last year, but not on finalist this year. I have heard he may be the best in the state but only because single A private is not strong overall. Imagine lipscomb, BA, Mccallie or Baylors QB in single A. They would all rush for 1000 and throw for 3k. It will be fun to see if he has the same numbers in AA or AAA next year.

When you have single A talent around you, it brings things back to reality.

I don’t think we’d have 7 to 10 state championships but we’d definitely have at least a couple. People see how successful we’ve been the past few years and their way of justifying it is that we cheat to do it instead of accepting the fact that we’ve just been better than than the majority of the teams who accuse us of recruiting. 2013 was our first pretty successful year in football for a while. 2011 was an ok year, but 2012 and practically every year before that we were terrible. 2013 Charlie Lansdell becomes head coach of CA and we start being good. The same players that had gone 6-5 in 2012 were back minus a few seniors in 2013 when they went 10-2. And the next year they lost a few more seniors but the only other new players were players that were freshmen. The reason we’ve been successful was because of the coaching change.

Ill post what I have posted probably a dozen other times.  The reason CA started having success is because they started the youth football league.  I played at CA (graduated in 2009) and a lot of our first experiences with real football was in 7th grade.  Around 2013 is when the kids who all started youth football started to get into high school (somewhere around here at least).

I am not taking anything away from Landsdell, he seems to be a great coach - but he came into a program with kids who had been playing together since they were in elementary school - which makes his job significantly easier.

Truth  Waverly didn't make a excuse when r QB  got hurt during the game last year. CA fans seem to think a 13 point lead was a beat down. No telling what coulda happened last year if we didn't lose him . But no matter what we got out played and coached last year

I would hope both teams aren't suprised if they win, or if they lose.  In reality these are 2 very good teams who in all honestly did not play a great 1st round of playoffs.  Both teams are very capable, but both have shown some issues.

Doesn't look like any rain tonight in Waverly - but I imagine the ground will still be wet, I wonder who that will effect more?

I think there will be alot of shocked people tomm.night as well on there ride back home

From my perspective, most CA fans are saying "if we play good, we can win" and most Waverly fans have already moved to the next round because this one is already over.  So, assuming CA loses, I dont think they would be that suprised, just know they didnt play great.

On the other hand, if Waverly loses there may be some mattresses burned in the streets.

    OK forget the numbers.

Waverly struggled with Forrest. CA is a much better team. CA did not struggled with Hickman. Hickman was NEVER in that game.

So how is Waverly gonna win this game? How? Can someone from Waverly tell me other than we love our tigers?

CA turned it over like 5 times, several of which were in scoring distance.  The score could have been worse, with that said, you turn the ball over 5 times again and you are in for a bad time.

  6. 1.)  I would guess revenge is more of a fan thing than a player thing, tbh, if i was a coach I wouldn't want my team to come out looking for 'revenge' thats how you play emotionally and lose your cool and give up giant plays, I have seen it happen too many times.

2.)  If Waverly can stop CA's run, then I would suspect that they will win relatively big, CA has not shown they can throw the ball ever since their starting QB went down several weeks ago.  This isn't to say they can't, but it hasn't looked great from what I have seen.  I don't think Waverly can stop CA's run, but if they can limit the amount of big plays, and stop them inside the redzone that will probably win them the game, as FGs are likely to not win this.

3.)  I do not think Waverly will put up anywhere close to 40+ points on the CA team.  The only way I can see this happen is if CA can't run the ball and gets frustrated and gives up.  I have not seen this CA team give up, so I dont think that will happen.

4.)  I have not seen Waverly play this year, so this post is literally generic, and meaningless just like 95% of every other post in this thread.

There's a couple of differences from last year to this year. 1 Waverly is wanting the revenge from being upset by this team last year. 2 CA planned all season for their 1 game against Waverly last year and succeeded while this year CA has been riding the high horse all season long and thinking because they beat the tigers last year they are the better teams this year.

I had actually heard rumors that they were watching Waverly game footage from around week 3 onward last year;  didn't actually know if it was true.  I am glad you cleared that one up.

LOL. Where the heck you been all year. Trying to ruffle feathers? Nice. It is what it is. Everyone knows last year Waverly didn’t play well in the CA game. The players knew, coaches, family and fans. For whatever the reason is or was, it happened but that was last year. Everyone in Waverly has been looking forward to the opportunity to play CA again. I would love nothing more than for Waverly to beat the ever living life out of CA on the football field. Will it happen? Who knows?? We will find out Friday. I’m not going to sit here and talk smack as bad as I want to. Just going to sit back and hope that Waverly plays to their full potential. If they do... gonna be a long night for CA.

My guess is, Ca's full potential is magnitudes better than Waverlys.  WIth that said, my faith in seeing that full potential is low ha

  9. To summarize this game:

Hickman county scores on a 50+ yard run on one of the first plays of the game.  Other than that didnt really do anything, CA's defense looked really solid.

Ca's offense, overall, looked bad.  Lots of turnovers (5), and the inability to throw the ball may eventually be their downfall.  The running game, like always was great.  Davidson broke 4,000 career rushing yards, and had ~305 rushing yards, with CAs overall rushing yards > 400.

The keys to beating CA is clearly to just force them to throw the ball at this point.  Also, if you can't stop CA's run it will be very tough to beat them, CA has a plethora of backs.

Looking at next week, Waverly giving up quite a few points to Forrest who, in my opinion has very little offense capabilities.  May be a shootout.  If CA turns it over like this next week it will be a blowout in Waverly's favor.

Exactly. We can run it at will for the most part, but the QB decision making is just not that good. And why when we drive the ball down the field on the ground, and then decide to throw it for the touchdown doesn’t make sense to me. This could be a much bigger win if they would just stick to what they do best. Aside from that the defense looked pretty good tonight aside from a couple big plays

I dont have a problem with that last call in the redzone, this game isnt near as close as the score would suggest, and they are going to need to be able to throw those short yardage eventually.

I am confused why they are just taking Davidson out at like 5 min, he's probably 90% of the offense, no reason even taking a little chance of him getting hurt.

I personally think its comically. Like it's been said before, polls mean nothing. By the end of the year everything will be worked out.

Alot of the voters probably have never seen a snap of half the teams they put in their top 10 so they go solely on record. I would bet they don't even look at schedules.

Some fans, coaches and players put alot of faith in the AP poll. I'm glad TC isn't on there, they haven't been relevant for a few years and need to gain the respect of the state. RTD

if you are talking about the AP poll, probably so - but people making polls on here know about as much as the poll voters...

This is almost certainly not a poll, but algorithmically determined based on w/l and w/l of opponents.

  12. As a former student athlete at Columbia Academy, I certainly had no one offer to pay my tuition.  Of all my friends who were student athletes, none of them had their tuition paid. The people who switched from other schools, they didn't get their tuition paid.  The majority of the good athletes at CA now, are siblings of people I went to high school with, I remember a lot these athletes now when they were running around at CA's elementary school.

At this point, I have been graduated for close to 10 years, and to be honest, I wouldn't have a problem saying if i knew we recruiting, if I believed we were.  Could things have changed? sure, but I doubt it just from what I said above.

The gimmick play hurt him, but the non-called roughing the passer knocked him out of the game. But I do agree that play should of never been tried. I was saying that in the stands as it was being performed.

The last play he was way outside the pocket if I recall, and becomes a runner, and roughing the passer becomes much more difficult to call.  It wasn't even roughing the passer, in my opinion.  he got hit as he was releasing the ball.
