  1. Huntingdon 68 - MCK 55. Won't be all that close.

Mckenzie needs their Olgelsby kid to score. Rust from football on some as well.

Also, HHS will control the boards.

With Olgelsby Id take McKenzie in a close one. Both teams well coached. Should be a fun district tournament, but tonight? Could get ugly.

  2. Correction:

    Henry Co. in Wilkins era:

    06-07 Lost last 6 games,

one to Springfield (who's only loss in their last 9 games was to eventual State Runner-UP Clarksville)

one to Clarksville (went UN Beaten in the district that year)

and the other four games they lost were all by 3 points or less...2 on last second shots! TWO!

Not an excuse...just stating the fact.

    2007-2008

Lost 1 of their last 4 to Rossview, by 9.

Lost 3 games BEFORE the last four to Rossview, Clarksville and Springfield (they split with Rossview and Springfield on the year)

    2008-2009

Won 13 of their last 16 games...losses to Clarksville NE (by 9 at their place after beating them at HC)

Then lost to Springfield at Springfield because they fell apart...no excuses...well unless you count the fact that their starting point guard did not play because of discipline issues. A definite factor considering Springfield started pressing and HC had no one else with any poise that night.

And then definitely should have won against Wilson Cent., despite being on the road 2.5 hours and being the first game in a week for pg. Still should have won.

So really--after doing a little research and recalling myself, the picture you were painting wasn't exactly accurate...however I do believe Wilkins would say he has been disappointed in previous finishes...as any coach would be.

  3. Man I guess the Henry Co. program is at an ALL-TIME high if going 25-6 and then getting upset in the Regions is underachieving. I agree that they should have gone farther. I think they were the best team in their district--better than NE last year---or they at least could have beaten them (they did split with them), but they didn't underachieve for the whole year. That is just a dumb statement.

And Patriot04 will you please stop trying to comment on players playing or not playing...everyone else on this board has more insight than you do. And just FYI, all of them are playing, Jelks, Sims, Skylar, etc. Although not all healthy at the moment.

    JYD great post!

    Chaos keep em coming!

Primetime--you are not bad--definitely not going to take what you say for Granite!

Patriot04--just please be quiet for a while...gettin on my nerves!

Eaglepride00...well everyone else already told you.

  4. Anyone from Missouri--that knows anything about Missouri HS basketball, knows about Morely , MO and Scott County Central--one of the best programs of all time in Missouri.

The best game of the day in my opinion will be The North Pulaski vs. Raleigh Egypt. However, I think every game is intriguing enough--hard to really tell.

HC will have their hands full for sure.

Northside will get all they want from SCC, and I am sure the last game of the night will be an interesting one as well.

    Can't wait!

  5. What is it?

The Eiffel Tower Shootout is a 1 Day Showcase of a few of the

Just take a look at the lineup for the FIRST YEAR!

    1:00 p.m.

Central Merry (Jackson, Tenn.) vs. McClure (St. Louis, Mo.)

    4:00 p.m.

    5:30 p.m.

Henry County (Paris, Tenn.) vs. Paducah Tilghman (Paducah, Ky.)

    7:00 p.m.

Howard School of Academics & Tech (Chattanooga, Tenn.) vs. John Marshall Metro (Chicago, Ill.)

Check out http://www.eiffeltowershootout.com to find out more information.

If you are just a fan of high school basketball, this will be an event worth going to.

  6. It doesn't really matter about the bottom spots anyways...

The point of 10-AAA this year is that the top three are clearly on another level above the rest.

Springfield, HC, and NE in whatever order you want...

    THEN...you have to remember

...Beech is still better than any of them.

  7. What does wilson central have. Players size? Offense they run? Defense they run? Leadin scorers? Anything?

They return two starters from a year ago that finished their season at the hands of Antioch in a sub-state game. Both returning starters, #23 Brooks and #5(I think) Stewart are guards...so guards with post-season experience (just what you would like to have this time of year).

They fill in the other 3 starting spots with good athletes, all around 6'3-ish. Good rebounders and finishers around the goal.

They play really hard, change defenses a lot traditionally, and are usually aggressive attacking the open floor. From what I hear, this year they don't have just one player you have to key on, but they play well, together as a unit.

  8. I am excited and ready for basketball season, I do expect improvements in our team this year at Kenwood. The region looks similar to me with Dickson dropping off and Kenwood stepping up.

    IMO

    1. Springfield most rounded ball club

    2. Clarksville may be better than Sprinfield due to previous experiences

    3. NE is on Clarsvilles heels

    4. Rossview has been steady

    5. Kenwood hopefully will play up to their talent on a more consistant basis

    6. Dickson County will keep all games clsoe til the end winning almost half their region games

    7. Northwest, underachievers as usual but will beat Henry COunty

    8. Lots of talent in the halls but not willing to play for coach

1, 2, 3 are all tight and whoever gets hot at the right time will win out

4,5 are tight as well, I expect a real battle for the 4 spot.

Just wanted to throw out this prediction by fastcat from early in the season...Where did Kenwood finish this year? Oh yeah..last!

Funny..we havent heard much from this guy since HC is winning and Kenwood is once again at the bottom of the barrel.

Thought all you Henry County fans would love to reflect back on this post...

To me it speaks volumes to this guys credibility!!

    Where'd you go fastcat??

    We all miss you!!!

  9. It is my understanding that the other side of the region is still up for grabs. (Much like the district 10 side)

Beech, MJ, and Gallatin are very close...with Beech having a little more experience on their side.

MJ probably has the best player in the region with the Clemmons kid (transfered from Wilson Central).

Gallatin is solid but not scary yet, despite decent guard play.

The same could be said for Lavergne who Beech handled pretty easily on Tuesday.

Wilson Central is starting to play better, but definitely miss Clemmons.

It's hard to say just how this side will play out this year...

I would venture to say that NE is the most talented team in the region this year. They have all the pieces of a good high school bball team.

  10. Way too early to know much from scores coming in as teams aren't even all together yet, and have had very little practice time...I think this league will be just like it was last year...everyone beating everyone...I think you could lose up to 4 times in the league and still win the thing.

Here are my predictions for records in the league this year...as you can see, everyone is beating up on everyone!

1.2.3. Springfield, Rossview, Northeast (a three-way tie for first haha at 10-4)

    4. Henry Co (9-5)

    5. Clarksville (7-7)

    6. Kenwood (6-8)

    7. Dickson (3-11)

    8. Northwest (1-13)

  11. Im sure glad they brought in a "discipline coach". That's the one thing Coach Wilkins can't do very well is discipline...he is too timid and quiet to instill any discipline in his program...

And the 6'10 kid really is 6'10 but probably wont be a difference in their team until Feb.

I think this will be the year that the Patriots make a little noise in the region...at least I hope.

PS before the past two years HC hadn't had a winning season in over 10 years so I am not sure about being good year in and year out...

But I guess it depends on how you define "good"

    Good luck Patriots!

  12. Marcus Jefferson - LaVergne High School needs to be considered for AAA

He is avg. 21 ppg, 8 rpg, 4.5 apg

LHS is 21-4, playing a very tough schedule (including finishing third in the Huntsville Times Classic -- one of the premier prep tournaments in the South) (Jefferson was a unanimous All-Tournament team selection)

My other two votes would be for Drew Kelly, and Rashawn Walker

  13. I could be wrong but has Antioch even lost to a team in TN yet? I know that one of their losses came to the number 2 team in the nation (a 10 point loss) and there other loss is to a team out of Georgia.

They have crushed McGavok twice (a good team) and handled Hunters Lane.

Antioch is definitely deserving of being in the top 10. Probably the top 3-5.
