  1. Why does everyone keep saying y'all? I may or may not have any connection to the school. Either way I'm just realistic and see that this effort by 10A/Maury County Schools is ridiculous and shows signs of cowards. Scared to compete. Your post kind of pokes fun at Hampshire, Santa Fe and Culleoka so I'm assuming you are probably from MTP or Richland. Either way it doesn't matter. Here's a question why didn't everyone cry years back when Cully had all those Columbia boys attend the school and they were dominating while making the State Tournament one year. They had a pretty good 2 or 3 year stretch under Slatten. I guess those guys weren't recruited. Wasn't much complaining either bc they were beating CA also. Good luck to all the 10A/Maury Schools on blaming all their losing on others rather than looking into their internal issues at each individual school and continuing a tradition of mediocracy. Maybe each year if they can advance to the Region actually giving the other District teams a good game or if not maybe they can receive participation trophies.
  2. Parents of athletes on the payroll? Yes. Is that an issue? Now a parent can't teach or coach at a school that their child attends? Is this another Public School rule? I mean I know this also happens in public schools also. What does a parent of an athlete have to do with the price of beans? NOTHING!!! I'm not saying teams don't travel but the DII regions are ridiculous. No true rivalries. LOL LOL LOL... quite funny. Your arguments are quite funny!
  3. So do public school pay the parents who work the concessions? I'll just keep educating since you obviously need it. No discounts on tuition. To retort to the C of C comment which is ridiculous is like asking if every public school kid believes in pray, saying the Pledge Of Allegiance, and standing for National Anthem.
  4. No that seems to be the reason the MCPS are kicking CA out in hopes they can get a trophy. Poor guys!
  5. I didn't ignore anything. I know nothing of that and I'm sure that is just another "hear say" so no need to reply.
  6. I'm not sure where you get your enrollment #'s but you are completely wrong. CA has 173 students 9 through 12th grade and 577 Kinderdarden through 12th. Goodpasture 346 9-12 If I need to get the rest for you I will. Natural rivalries is within the county!
  7. Why don't the public schools man up and compete instead of crying? Why do the public schools still play Zion? Why, because they think they can beat Zion but that didn't work so well this year. CA is smaller than most public schools. Joining DII makes no sense for CA. CA would lose natural rivalries. Look at the extra travel to play a Region game. Plus most the DII Schools are much larger. That's like Hampshire and Columbia Central playing each other. Makes no sense. Again when CA is down and all these schools can beat them there are no complaints. But when CA is winning there is so much crying its ridiculous. What's going to be the excuse this week when most these public schools get knocked out of the region in the first round this weekend? I guess Region play will be boycotted next. I guess it's unfair also.
  8. I'm not going to speak on why a coach was removed but it wasn't for recruiting. Parents move their kids where there are better opportunities and everyone screams "they were recruited". It's like a soap box... recruiting, recruiting, recruitting...
  9. Work study no longer allowed. Bills... hmmm I guess the power and water bill is free each month. No it cost money to have electric and water so they have to be paid also. There are expenses such as loans for new buildings and "stadiums" that have to be paid. Expenses such as field maintenance, building maintenance, overall campus maintenance etc... I guess everyone thinks none of this stuff cost money. Oh wait... I guess teachers teach for free and coaches coach for free. There is teacher and coaches salaries. Maintenance, office, and other employees on the payroll also. CA funds themselves. Things are not free for CA as most people think. Tax payer money funds public schools. CA does all this with tutution money, fundraisers and I'm sure there are donations. But don't think that things aren't donated to the poor public schools because they are. FYI - Don't waste your time selling candy bars as a fundraiser. Go big think outside the box. Go with fundraisers that produce results. And most good programs have several different fundraisers a year. Like 5 or 6. I know 1 fundraiser is too much work for most coaches and parents but yet when those poor public schools are wearing the same crappy uniform for 10 straight seasons and their facilities are below par no one is to blame but the people who don't or won't put in the effort. Go up to SHHS Baseball and see what fundraising has got them in the last 10 years or so. Go check out Columbia Baseball and see what they have got with fundraising in about the same amount of years. Both programs have some of the best fields in the state, indoor facilities, etc... They earned it. These small schools got to get out and earn it and stop feeling sorry for themselves. CA fundraises. They also earn it.
  10. Excuses excuses excuses... it's all that is posted here. Any school could host AAU or what not. Maybe the schools should have more of an open door policy. As far as "$$$$$" maybe the schools should fundraise instead of waiting on hand outs. People do realize that student tutuion at CA goes toward employee payroll and other bills.
  11. Summertown is a great example. Located on the Maury County line. The school is competitive at all sports. The basketball program has a rich history and the baseball team makes regular trips to the state tournament. A problem in one particular MCPS. If the AD has been on the job for 10-15 years with most sports teams having losing records regularly year and year out much less never winning championships with the programs not growing, making improvements, fundraising low, hiring bad coaches, etc... that is a problem. It is time for a change.
  12. Most kids that ride those buses are elementary age. I'm sure they weren't recruited. I would like to hear the off season workouts each of these schools do like conditioning and weight training. I've heard so many stories of kids quiting bc they have to run during season practice so I'm sure they wouldn't even show up for off season requirements but then again I'm sure most these schools don't do much out of season approved by TSSAA practices, conditioning or weight training.
  13. CA lost the Region last season to Loretto and did so a few years before that. No one discusses Giles County is open enrollment County so a student can live at the front door of GCHS but attend Richland. Maury County kids attend schools they are not zoned for each year. The CA coach that got "fired" is still employed by the school. Getting mad that CA won't join TMSAA is ridiculous. All the other Maury Schools just joined with the last year or two and its not certain that all schools have joined since only one school attended the TMSAA State Sectional. CA shouldn't be blamed for the lack of success for the other schools. 10A Girls Overall Basketball Record W 40 L 80 Maury Schools W 22 L 73 10A Boys Overall Basketball Record W 34 L 84 Maury Schools W 21 L 72 Time for MCPS board to dig deep into each schools admin, AD's, coaches & sports programs. CA shouldn't be blamed for 145 loses. When all the other MCPS can advance past the first round of Region Tournament play then CA can be made fun of for supposely choking in the state tournament.
  14. The reason I used the phrase "Big Bad Dawgs" is because of his all other schools are treating them and acting as if CA is unbeatable. None of this was an issue when those schools could beat CA. Students in Maury County attend schools out of zone regularly. It's no hidden secret. Maury students also cross county lines and out of county kids attend Maury Schools also. There's loop holes around everything.
  15. CA is much smaller than BGA, Goodpasture and CPA. All were 2A at some point. CPA probably would be 3 A now. CA enrollment is less than Cully and Mt. Pleasant the last I checked enrollment figures. CA doesn't recruit or offer scholarships so why go DII? My point to the argument is that all the other Maury County Schools/10A Schools blame CA for their lack of success. The lack of success for each of these schools begin inside the schools themselves. Too many people have the wool pulled over their eyes and it's easier to place blame else where.
  16. Excuses! CA is one of the smallest private schools and smaller than some public schools? Is CA the reason the past few years a MCPS team gets blasted by Loretto, Summertown, Wayne County, etc... in Region Tournaments? The rivals sent a real message... "We can't beat CA so we will just take our ball and go home!" CA isn't just beating Maury County Schools they play well past the District Tournament advancing deep into Region, Sub-State and State.
  17. Again CA isn't the issue. Once Maury County Schools cross county lines for Region play they get waxed! Most MCPS just joined TMSAA recently within the last year or so. So making it sound like all has been sanctioned is a false statement. If more were involved with TMSAA then why doesn't more of the schools participate in the state sectionals? And saying that schools only pull from their communities is false. Students praticipate each year at other schools they aren't zoned for. It's a pretty regular thing. Each school needs to improve their programs, coaching staffs and have more supporttive admins then maybe things will improve. Also fundraising would help each program get the needs of each team. MCPS have way too many excuses! CA has always been accused of recruiting but never been out on probation. So an upset mom and dad making false allegations doesn't mean a student has been recruited. Parents make the decision to send their kids to CA due to better education and better sports opportunities.
  18. Now that the regular season is coming to a close with tournaments set to begin. Someone please explain to me how 10A/Maury County Schools who were the head of boycotting and against playing Columbia Academy has benefited their overall record and district standings? Look at each teams record from this season. Each school has blamed CA for their past unsuccessful seasons instead of digging deep looking into their own programs problems and needs. Those teams will now have to play CA in the district tournament. While CA was being avoided all the other schools were playing mediocre teams (each other) not benefitting. This decision did not benefit those schools. But in return CA benefited from it greatly by playing a tough schedule allowing them to improve and be battled tested come tourney time. District 10A could only run and hide for so long. Post season is here and the Big Bad Dawg has come calling!!
