  1. Gotta go with the coaches who are consistently in Murfreesboro every March... 2 of the best in my mind are Barry Wortman at Blackman and Drew Maddux at CPA. They have built programs that are successful every year.

  2. Not a big enough reason to transfer schools, but I definitely believe the awards reason over getting shots. It was an absolute joke that Lomax won State tourney MVP. Seems like he is the chosen star at East who will win every award no matter how the players actually perform. Lomax is a great player, but having only watched 3 games in Murfreesboro he was their 3rd most valuable player that week. Moss leaving would make things more interesting in class AAA the next two years

  3. i am not going to comment on the coaching because i am not close enough to the program to know whats going on. but it is hard to win anywhere when you are one of the smallest teams around. ravenwood will do much better in district this year because they will not have to deal with the matchup problems a drew kelly or kyle teichman caused. those kids play hard and that is all you can ask

  4. LA is gonna be hard to beat

..... until they get to murfreesboro where they have gotten waxed the last 2 years. dont see them being anywhere near as good without dunn, so IF they make it to the boro look for another quick and ugly exit

  5. even tho this is just a summer camp game i am not surprised by the result. siegel is very talented but beech is the class of the midstate, with siegel and hunters lane slightly behind. the experience chamberland and co have from going to the boro last year is invaluable, along with the odd 1-3-1 defense that few can figure out. they will be very tough to beat

  6. fulton will be in no trouble next year. they have jalen steele, who is the 2nd best AA player in the state behind prather. campbell has a year of triple a experience and is very talented. boyd and reggie are more experienced than last year. gallman and styles were big losses but jody wright is an extraordinary coach and i expect fulton to contend for its 3rd straight title

  7. if you look at the common opponents it heavily favors beech

both schools beat clarksville handily early on, beech beat brentwood by 18 after being up as much as 30.... the same brentwood team that beat franklin 3 times this season. also the bucs have 2 wins over mt juliet who beat franklin at the rebels gym. The real 1-3-1 will take away haddix and franklin does not have enough shooters to stay in the game. Beech at home by 10+

  8. this has been an exciting season and there are only 2 games left..... looking back on it i see two main contenders for the district MVP award. obviously drew kelly is number one. his near 30 ppg average is unheard of but his team's lack of success could hurt him. the other is teichman from brentwood. he is pumping in 20 a contest and has led his team to a tie for first place. i would not at all be opposed to these two bigs sharing the award. also carden is having a great year at indy, no one thought they would be near the top at the beginning of the season.

  9. we are all surprised by the rebels losing but they are in no way a bust. they will get better as the season progresses and they get key players back. i do not think they are as good as they have been in the past but they are still the best team in the district. haddix is improving rapidly but is nowhere near an "unstoppable force".... a top 10 player in the league at best.

  10. I think that whatever two teams come out of the region will make it to the Boro. it is a 3 team race (franklin brentwood maplewood) for two substate berths. maplewood is the most athletic and talented, franklin is the deepest and most experienced, while brentwood is in their 2nd year with coach king and has teichman inside. it is too early to pick which two but whoever wins the 11-AAA tourney is a virtual lock for a birth in the region championship. wouldnt be surprised to see hillsboro make a run with mcmillan some young athletic players and thweatt(sp) is a very good coach.

  11. No offense to young, as he is a very good player who i have enjoyed watching the last 2 years, but he is not close to the top player in the district. in my opinion the highest you could put him is 4th behind kelly, teichmann, and arthur from hillsboro. i could very well see him winning MVP if the rebs take the district again and his numbers improve. his leadership, experience, and willingness to take a big shot is vital to franklins success

  12. i am not trying to hate on franklin, but i think the loss of kegarise is too steep to overcome. i believe (correct me if im wrong) he was their leading scorer. yes i know the rebels have a lot of 3 point options but kevin was the one who was always consistent. henry, young, millermclemore, and co. are capable of having good shooting games but it is not every night as kegarise was. i would not be surprised to see the rebels win the crown again but i just dont expect it

  13. its very hard to pick against franklin due to their winning tradition, talent returning, and depth but i think this is the year they are dethroned. i am taking brentwood to win the district. They have a stud who can carry them in teichman and the guards are one more year experienced and are capable of knocking down timely shots so teams cannot double teichmann inside.

  14. This should be a great thing to watch with a lot of talent. 4 of these teams (cpa, siegel, livingston, and clarksville) made in to state in murfreesboro last year and others could this year.

    Top players include:

    Drew Kelly- Centennial

    Zeke Mason- CPA

    Hunter Miller- CPA

    Kyle Teichmann- Brentwood

    Brendan Connolly- Father Ryan

    Trey Caruthers- Harpeth

    Kerry Hammonds- Siegel

    Marc Gooch- Siegel

    Levon Tate- Siegel

    Chase Dunn- Livingston

  15. Upcoming seniors listed on rivals

    Tavarres Jefferson- Ensworth

    Gentry Hines- Raleigh Egypt

    Greg Wooten- Briarcrest Christian

    Miles Asafo-Adjei Ensworth

    Chase Dunn- LA

    Hunter Miller- CPA

    Michael Young- Franklin

    John Jenkins- Station Camp

    Leslie McDonald- Briarcrest Christian

    Drew Barham- Christian Brothers

    David Anderson- CPA

    Skylar McBee- Grainger

    Reginald Buckner- Manassas

    Ferrakohn Hall- White Station

    Marlon Brown- Harding Academy

    Blake Jenkins- Bearden

    Gary Pope- Ensworth

    Tyler Stone- Memphis Central

    Zeke Mason- CPA

    Drew Kelly- Centennial

    Demonte Simpson- Bearden

    Johnny Williams- Briarcrest Christian

    James Haddix- Franklin

    Kyle Teichmann- Brentwood

  16. i am predicting

    1 Franklin

    2 Brentwood

    3 Hillsboro

    4 Overton

    5 Centennial

    6 Independence

    7 Ravenwood

    8 Overton

also it should be interesting to see where some of these players end up going to college. i have heard that young, haddix, and teichman have all had very productive summers on the travel cicruit and are making their claim as D1 players. and of course you have kelly who is the top prospect. mcmillan at hillsboro (only a junior) is also gathering high major interest
