  1. I am pleasantly surprised with all the interest of posts for our district this year! Good luck to all teams as they advance forward in region play.

  2. I tend to agree with GameCocker 702 , I too feel! We should go after a big time Mid State coach, who has a history of winning, if there is such an applicant out there. If not, maybe a top asst. at one of the Boro schools, who is young and energetic and has paid his dues, to lead a football team , in our new district. I. For one feel, that there is No Coach. Locally, ready for the task at hand, but whoever, I will support the new Head Coach.

  3. He's gone, end of story. Question is where do we go from here ? I think , in order to compete with the Boro schools, we must recruit, as they do. If we see a kid in Dekalb, White, Cannon, Grundy, etc. , we need to actively pursue them to consider coming to Warren County, when they are 7th or 8th graders. Maybe a Bridgestone job for one of their parents would be a enticing lure, if we can find someone there to be a partner, in Warren County athletics. Besides, after that kid is here for a couple years, is he not then, a Warren County resident ? Food for thought !

  4. Again, I appreciate the enthusiasm and I hope all goes well. I wasn't trying to offend.

And, yes, Murfreesboro has been relevant a long time, but there are twice as many of them now...

No ! Not offended at all ! My enthusiasm is not just for Football, but for all sports, which unfortunately may not happen, Your points are valid.

  5. As a Coffee County fan who has no kids in HS ball, I hope your optimism about rising to the level of competition is valid. The flip side is the Boro schools have evolved a little since Warren was in that district. Warren (and Coffee) are going to be playing elite division I athletes on a weekly basis. Based on the results from playing in the worst district in the state the last few years, you might want to worry about your kids getting hurt. Playing elite teams might make you better, but the results are gonna be the same and much more painful. It hurts me to say that as CC is in the same boat, but this is gonna be like asking Chattanooga to play the SEC West week in and week out.

Knowing now, that we may not be in All Sports , in the new alignment ,It does, put a damper on my enthusiasm, however,I still love the football realignment. Time to hit the weight room ! Rhea County and Cookeville can compete, why can't we ? And by the way, the Boro has been relative in football for the last 35 years !

  6. I ,for one , am thrilled to be back playing teams from the Boro again ! Some may say , we cannot compete, but how well do we compete in our district now ? If we have the number of students to play 6aaa , then by all means, that is where we should be. It will be SO NICE to see the talent brought in from the Boro into McMinnville once again, in Every Sport . It's. up to us, to belly up and compete

  7. Might want to find another job if you depend on your predictions to feed you.... you will starve! As for the one man show you must be referring to the head coach Steve Trapp. I have no clue who else you could possibly be referring to. We scored 3 touchdowns with 3 different players. Might want to get your facts right before you open your mouth. Enjoy that crow!!

Nicejob dekalb Co. !!!  rebuilding and doing well, great job !! Go pioneers

  8. I am not that disappointed that the Pioneers, didn't make their way into the playoffs. point being, they DO NOT deserve a playoff spot, nor does any 2 or 3 win team in the state deserve one. I have no problem, for a much more worthier team, from another district fill that spot. How about winning 7 or 8 games a year at the least, which shouldn't be that hard, in the WORSE district in the state. This year, our district, should have ZERO teams in the playoffs.

  9. i think by wc coach jerking his players off the court and quiting it made erthing worse. that's when the riot started.

I wasn't at the game, and I hate that the game ended, like it did, but, it's time to put this one to bed, and I welcome all the van Burren fans back to mcminnville, We (warren County and Van Burren) are bigger than the few fans, that might have spoiled it for everybody.

  10. I think Warren County has a really good chance this year to do very well in their district. Could even see some dunks this year from what I hear???

This team has potential !! if we can cut down on the turnovers and fouls, we will win more of the close games we are losing.

  11. How is the big post I think her name is Laura Wilkinson or something like that. Furthermore, does WC have anyone else to help out this year. Last year WC just seemed to rely on her too much in my opinion. She is a great player but the other four players on the court need to be more involved. Just my opinion.

She is doing fine !!!, nice come from behind win in Franklin Co. !!!!! very impressive !!

  12. hot topic huh?

Should be a good district race. I think all the teams will be better overall this year. Here is how I see it going down,

Cookeville- good chance to repeat as tournament champions. Got some good talent back including last years district MVP.

White Co. - always a tough out... lost some key players from last years team. Still have a few as well with experience . Roy Sewell is a great homecourt advantage so I look for them to contend.

Cumberland Co. - Rumor has it that the Jets have alot back including a couple that didn't play last year. Seem to have gotten off to a rocky start tho.

Warren Co. - The pioneers always seem to be "improving" every year. They did make a strong showing at the district tournament almost upsetting Cookeville. I think 3rd place is a good guess for them. 2nd at the most

Coffee Co - Off to a pretty good start... I think they will be much improved but don't have quite enough to contend

Great post !! best post i have read in awhile, very indepth, thank you !!

  13. Last time I remember the Lady Pioneers going to Regions was the 94-95 season and Eric Wilson was the head coach and was voted coach of the year for district 7-AAA.. back when Oakland, Riverdale, Lebanon, Cookeville and Sparta were all still together..

I still wish we were in that district. It would be alot more attractive schedule, and the people of warren county could see some of the best basketball, being played in the state, even though we usually came out on the short end of the stick, but the random years we did compete at a high level, made it all more sweeter. The Ladies have potential ,this year, but need to learn to close-out games.
