1. CBHS - although they had a great season this year, the next few years should prove to be very good for them as well. They have a fantastic middle school club and some of the best coaches around. Several of their boys look to be strong for the next few years. They should be able to fill in some of the holes very nicely.

Who around the state is running from hard competion. One of my nominees is 1. Darius Williams, CBHS- running up to 189 so that he does not have to wrestle the well oiled machine at 171 Aaron Bateman

Please remember you are still talking about kids. I know some are near adulthood, but let's not forget they are still kids. Making statements about adults is one thing, but when you make a comment about a kid is WAY OUT OF LINE.

103 It would be an absolute DOG fight with Jeremy Miller, 8th grader from Greenback HS. who beat Simpson at Ryan, Talon Noman from Overton, that nearly lost to Miller from Greenback at Ryan, Baucke from CBHS, who lost to Simpson in the duals, Simpson from MBA that lost to Manley from Baylor in the duals. Then you have to figure Matt King from Greenville and Justin Hammons from Soddy Daisy as being a factor. It would be difficult to call this one with so much talent.

112 I believe Bailey Whitaker would pin or tech Francise from MBA. However, Tee Boone from Notre Dame and Randolph can't be taken lightly. Not to mention the top DOG in Div I at 112 from Cleveland, Josh Jadoobersingh. However, it's my opinion that Whitaker could win the 112 state title in either division.

119 Young Duncan is indeed a very good wreslter and should win the state at 119 as an 8th grader. However, if you were to combine the two divisions my money is on Adamson from Notre Dame.

At 119, I can't believe there is anyone that would take Demetrius Johnson. Although I think a lot of Duncan, and believe he will win one if not two championships in High School. I don't believe he could beat Johnson.

Manley will see Baulke probably in the second round of the duals this weekend for a prelem of whats to come in the finals matchup at the individual state. I know that everyone is riding the Manley bandwagon but I'm going with Baulke by 2.

I agree, but I go with Baulke by 4 (if not more)

TJ Duncan is a great middle schooler. Oh, hold on, I forgot, he is not a middle school wrestler now.

I'll agree with that one. TJ is a very strong wrestler, and is doing great at the high school level. He should be fun to watch over the next couple years.

  8. QUOTE(Patriot5 @ Jan 19 2007 - 12:37 PM) 826337757

just curious i would like to know who yall would rank in each MIDDLE SCHOOL weight class as like an unofficial ranking for middle schoolers

First list the weight classes, and then post what you think. That will get things started.

  9. QUOTE(ragencajun @ Jan 19 2007 - 11:05 AM) 826337628

I am sure the other guys on his team dont mind being shuffled around do you think? if you got an eye on a regional individual spot and there are only 3 ? I bet if you could read the mind of the guy on his team he would be thinking something other than what he is saying. but who cares the message that is sending besides a great athelete is challenging himself, when in theory he has met his goal by getting a place at a college, are the coaches sending a message that its not about the team and each wrestler as an individual ..its really about a star?

I guess I question how you can't see it's about the team in many situations. He takes on the opposing team's best, and wins. If he didn't, his team would take a loss. Take the match with Darius for example. No one else beats him. So Wright is given the challege to win a match for his team. Most kids would look at the win/loss record and position in the standing.

    That guy is nuts.

    Brandon Wright that is.

    Jeez.

The kid is the BOMB. What other kid do you see, dropping and jumping weight classes to take on another team's best? Man, he isn't afraid of anyone. Gotta love that in an athlete.

  11. QUOTE(sundancer @ Jan 19 2007 - 09:19 AM) 826337495

The Tennessee National Team (TNT) is the USAW affiliated team for TN. I beleive this thread was originally discussing the AAU national team.

You are correct that questions regarding TNT should be directed to Jose Delgado or the appropriate director. In the last couple of years there have been TNTs created for USAW Divisions - Juniors, Cadets and School Boys.

I personally haven't see Jose do a thing this year. There is no schedule as of yet, and doesn't seem to be one coming any time soon. There hasn't even been a mention if there is going to be a TWF state tournament this year. Not trying to jump on the guy, and hopefully there are things going on behind the scenes that we don't know about, but it sure would be nice to be informed on what is going on, and what is being planned.

Houston lost to CBHS 44-29 last night with Houston giving 18 points in Forfeits. Good job by Houston and Coach Holmes.

Got to give kudos to Brandon for going up and wrestling Darius Williams. Brandon takes on all comers. The best in the state this year. Nobody else is moving their weight around to wrestle the best wrestler like Brandon.

Is this the best CBHS team Coach Lewis has had? They have done very well this year. Could make some noise at the state.

Totally agree, Brandon goes after the toughest matches week in and week out. Gotta love that from a kid. Who cares about the record, let's see what you've got.

Yes, I believe this is one of the best that Coach Lewis has had, if not the best. And I would think he has 4 kids that have a great shot at state, and several others that will make some noise. Should be fun to watch.

  13. No there are no "new" DII rankings out. As a matter of fact there are no new DI rankings either. Nothing wrong with both of our rankers taking a little time off around Christmas  .

I don't remember seeing any losses on Baucke's record down here in the paper but I wouldn't know Manley's as well. That bracket at state is going to be fun when you throw in all of the other 103's as well.

Baucke has not lost as of yet. I believe he is somewhere around 26-0.

  14. I do know that Baulke is an awesome wrestler and he's gotta be smart to contend with out of state competition. But I also know that weight does play a big part of a wrestlers dominance in a particular weight class, especially comng up into the high school ranks. Just a different league........ of competition. Why do you think that Jackel is having a little and I mean a little trouble with some of the best high school guys at 189? A small learning curve that 99% of middle schoolers go through. Just jumping from middle to high is enough but giving up a couple of pounds being a light weight (ie. a natural 101lb freshman as opposed to a heavy 113lb soph or junior losing down to 103) trying for a state championship. Kids like Jackel and Baulke will be state champions soon.... maybe this year... we'll see.

Baucke is not a light 103 by any means, he has grown quite a bit since this past summer, and along with that his strength has increased as well. If you ask me, he's the real deal and will be someone to contend with this year. I've seen him wrestle a couple times already this season, and he has a mat sense that most kids don't have. To me, it's like he sees his moves 2 or 3 moves ahead of his opponent.

  15. Ok, since there is very little talk about the ranking in D-II, let's start the discussion and see what everyone thinks....

Rank 'em the way you see it.

    103-

    112-

    119-

    125-

    130-

    135-

    140-

    145-

    152-

    160-

    171-

    189-

    215-

    285-
