  1. According to many of the parents from many of the schools there (including the ones who have traveled to Hawaii and MN for tournaments), the Fandetti is by far the best tournament they have ever attended.

    Some quotes:

"runs the smoothest of any tournament I've ever seen"

    "awesome facility"

"plenty of room and every seat has a great view" (loved the fact that no one was allowed to be in the middle area where all 6 mats meet so they can see every mat without moving around)

"blown away by the food offered at the concessions - not your typical tourney or high school food"

"no wonder teams line up to try and get into this tournament"

"thank you for making us feel so welcome and not like you just want our checkbook at the tournament"

"this is the best wrestling competition top to bottom of any tournament we've ever been to"

The list goes on............but this is by far the premier tournament in the southeast. Everyone who gets a chance should attend if they ever get a chance.

Totally agree. I could easly see this turning into a premier tournament where you would have to qualify to get in. Very little down time, adjustments made quickly to keep things rolling (such as moving weight classes to a different mat when one is running slower than others), plenty of great seating, quality of competition (including seeing some of the best from neighboring states), good concessions, very very freindly people, etc.

  2. I pretty much know 130 but would like to see how the rest of the brackets (125) worked out! I hear that it had a bunch of good teams...

I don't have all the results, or even a good list of names, but hopefully people can fill in where I'm missing....

    Winners

    103 - Gray (CB)

    112 - Robinson (CB)

    119 - Bruner (Baylor)

    125 - Watson (Baylor)

    130 - Mosley (FR)

    135 - Baker (CB)

    140 - Doster (Baylor)

    145 - Marchetti (FR)

    152 - ? I think it was a kid from Jay M Robinson

160 - kid from Jefferson Co

    171 - Rupiper (CB)

    189 - Holmes (FR)

    215 - Fisher (FR)

    285 - ? Not sure

  3. I didn't realize F-R Brawl was this weekend. Time is flying. Parkland is in school Saturday.

Yes, snow/ice killing us. Same rules, no school-no sports. On top of that schools that are back in many are making up their missed day(s) on Saturday. Tearing up our tournies this weekend.

Looks like Jay M Robinson is out of school tomorrow as well. Am I wrong here?

    Are there any others?

  4. Given the fact that the top four in this region will either win or place second in most any region, IMHO, would two open or wild card be a good solution?

Going along these lines, what would be your idea on how the wild cards are selected?

  5. I totally disagree. I think Ronnie Brays rankings are formatted much better, and seem to be less biased and based more on realistic information. These rankings seem to get so much criticism, yet when I read the boards people sit and wait on them like a starving person for a crumb. With all that said, the only rankings that will matter are those at the end of a day in February. Thats when dreams and goals will be achieved, and when all the propaganda(some even regurgitated by coaches at the expense of kids), is irrelevent, and the kids who earned it will receive their rewards, at least most of them. Anyway, thanks Ronnie for providing people with a service that makes the sport of Wrestling a bit more interesting.

There you have it, a difference of opinions. And that is all it is.

  6. I know it is very hard to rank kids when you dont get to see all of them but someof these rankings are a little hard to understand. FOr instance there is a kid listed as others to watch at 103 but if you take away his forfiets he has a losing record.

Just curious how the ranking are formed

It's Ronny Bray, and if you ask me his rankings are no where near as good as the guys that do if for the TWF site.

  7. Actually the Ducks and TCU declared their seasons a disaster, threw away their trophies and gave back their bowl money because they did not earn it and took a greyhound bus back home. All in all the whole national championship experience was terrible for the Ducks, it was "like kissing their sister" really? Being a Vols fan, I know they would have liked to have "been in the conversation" this year or would love to be next year.

I'm confused on all this. Doesn't it matter what your sister looks like if it's a bad thing?

  8. One could also argue that if Father Ryan had their original lineup from the beginning of the season that they would have won.. The fact is that Father Ryan won the tournmanet. Move on.

where are they different from earlier in the year? (not arguing this post, just wondering who is missing and where)

  10. BB,

Could you pls shed some light on how the DII Dual Tournment brackets would look in the event of a McCallie 1 seed or a Baylor 1 seed? Thanks. Barrel

There are 5 teams from the Middle/East that make it, and 4 from the West.

The 1 & 2 from both sections are split. I think the 3 is on the same side as the 1, but can't remember how 4 & 5 are set.

So, if Baylor wins the region, then Baylor will be on one side and McCallie on the other. The 2nd seed from the Middle/East will end up matching with CBHS (I'm assuming they will win the West) in the semi final round.

I'm sure when ghouse gets on line today, he can fill in all the blanks

  11. BB, can a wrestler bump up 2 weight classes? I thought the rule was a kid could only go up 1, just saying.

    bcb iii :flower:

No, they can only bump up 1 weight class.

BUT, that is 1 weight class from the weight class they weighed in for. So if Martino weighed in at 174 (like BBB stated), then his weight class for that tournament would have been 189, thus allowing him to bump up 1 weight class to 215.

  12. That is what is sounds like to me as well. It also seems like his defense is blaming the abuse on a move that was taught by the coaches.

It probably was taught to him, as it's been a part of wrestling as far back as anyone can remember. But to do it outside of circle, and to lose your finger like that, just sounds like the act of a bully and nothing more

  13. You should probably read the entire article....the author of the article is only making a reference to Nancy and Deford to come and report on the issue, they are not actually involved at all at this point. This really has nothing to do with the claim of illegal use of a digit.

I did read it. I was kidding.

Really sounded to me, not to be during practice at all. And the act of a bully, not the use (or mis-use) of a wrestling move.
