  1. The Maryville players have not been contacted. Their high school coach has never mentioned it to them.

Same goes for Loudon County... where can we get some info on this? Be nice to know if your on a team or not so that you don't say you'll play for someone else in the fall or need to make work schedule arrangements for those who usually don't play in the fall. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

  2. I know it is early summer but I couldn't be more ready for wrestling season to get here. I am looking to see if anyone is doing anything in the area (Northeast, TN). I am considering opening up some "Summer OPEN Practices" to keep the kids fresh in the off season but again wanted to see if anyone else is doing/planning anything... thanks, Coach Frye

10th grader from the lenoir city area would love to see someone do open practices, very had to find around here. please let us know or post contact info. thanks

  3. I thought even as an upcoming 9th grader, once you attended team camp prior to "enrolling" you were still considered as a part of that team. Catholic's volleyball team had a player go to camp with Hardin Valley in the summer then enroll at Catholic at the start of the school year last year. She played the entire season and when it was brought up by the Hardin Valley coach at a match late in the season, Catholic was forced to forfeit all those matches she participated in since she was technically ineligible.

    Coaches??????

I believe you are correct. If you play spring practice in football for one school then attend another school in the fall you are ineligible. I would think the same goes for basketball.

  4. These teams are tentative.

Where are you getting your information???

  5. Coach Windle is a kind person, good to the boys, passionate about everything that he did. I know he knows the game. Played at a high level and coached under some good coaches. I'm sure he is going to be a very good coach and maybe he already is. He had a young team at Seymour (in age and experience) and they played in one of the toughest Districts in the state in AA.

Now, whether you believe it or not there was more than one occasion where a player started one game and didn't dress the next. It's not really a big deal because they were role players but it happened.

I really understand the move, his future wife lives and works over there. I just wish if he wasn't going to stay that he wouldn't have come to Seymour in the first place- but I wish he would haved stayed. The rising Juniors at Seymour are going to have their third coach in their high school career. That is a shame and noone is really talking about that. As far as that goes the LC rising seniors are on their third coach too! Sad and ridiculous at the same time.

Again- I think if he ever stays somewhere more than 1 or 2 years he will build a very good program.

It's Lenoir City's rising Seniors 3rd coach as well. As for the Jordan Hall issue the stuff they read on here is exactly why he should go to CAK. LC has no future in any sport, one kid can't win games against the likes of Maryville and Bearden. LC centers in on one kid and makes him out to be a god they have done this with Hood and now their doing it to an 8th grade kid. It's sad. If I could give the Hall's any advice it would be take Jordan and run if he's truely a team player and not all about himself then LC isn't the place for him because LC will make it all about him just like they've done with Hood.

  6. Hood has scored in the high 20's all season even against Bearden when they met during the regular season. What defense did Bearden use to contain Hood to only 10 pts. or did Hood just have an off night? I wasn't at the game and was just wondering, no one has been able to handle Hood all season I was shocked! /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

  7. Chill out on him Skippy. Being honest isn't putting a kid down. I've seen Titlow play for several years and to say he was one of the best juniors in the area is a stretch. He should dominate he is at Greenback playing single A ball (this isn't meant as an attack on single A). If you put Titlow up against better AA and AAA talent from area teams such as L.C., Maryville, AE, Stone, Farragut, and others he would have a decent showing but would not come close to dominating you say same stats against LC and WB, WB wasn't that good last year especially after Ballard went down, what were his stats against LC? Was most of his scoring and rebounding after the starters left the game? just curious.

If you remember Titlow's freshman year @ LC he was part of a freshman team that dominated their opponents. That freshman team was lead by Titlow and his presence was very much known. If I'm not mistaken that was 3A ball. It doesn't matter what level he plays @ he always rises to the challenge. I've myself have watched this kid since middle school and I will go on record and say HE IS ONE OF THE BEST JUNIORS IN THIS AREA. When LC lost him they lost alot. I believe coachinhoops will agree. I'm just a fan, I don't really have a dog in this fight but I know a good ball player when I see one and Titlow is one of the better ones in this area. When you talk to him he's soft spoken, very well mannered just an all around great kid. I've seen him have some bad games but we all have bad games. I've seen him play lazy @ times but that's youth. I honestly think when this 2010 class signs with their respected colleges you will look back on this thread and see that you were wrong.

  8. sir, you are right about tonights game, i even went to talk to jerry about mykal because he just didnt look himself, undoubtly their was an accident monday night after practice on his way home,he didnt get hurt but he almost totalled his vehicle and they he was pretty upset over the ordeal, but to say this kid does not belong on the list of some of the best players in knoxville area you are wrong one game doesnt change that.I've seen this kid play aau and fall league he is a really good player.Greenback doesnt get region runner up,district runner up, substate birth without this kid, plays great defense and can score any where on the court, just ask gov-man and some of the area coaches that have coached or played against, this is just the third game, but after the way they played last night, not knowing his back ground i would have agreed with you, also when we needed the win who took over on defense and offense,i believe it was titlow who got us the lead with numerous blocks and steals in tne last five minutes, after that just let sabo hold the ball and get fouled.and these guys are going to be just fine got to get in sinc, only one practice with some of the football players back a little premature to bash yet,let them play some ball first.

Hey coachinhoops you coached this kid in the past... what's your opinion? I've seen him play a couple of times and I've always said LC lost a good one.

  9. What is up with Lenoir City and there sports? no talent, no coaching? Is it both? How long has it been since b-ball (girls or boys) have had a great team. What are the coaches record? ANYBODY KNOW?

I'll tell you exactly what's wrong with LC sports... politics! For whatever reason a coach can be doing great building a program and if someone up alittle higher doesn't care for you or you don't jump through their hoops you're gone that's it doesn't matter how many hours you put in, doesn't matter how many parents like you, doesn't matter how many players love you, doesn't matter how hard you work if you don't play their game or your not related to someone you don't have a chance... ask Tony Williams and many others. Talent isn't the problem look @ Tyler Hood I'ld expect him to play college ball somewhere. If you get on these threads much you'll remember a couple of years ago when coach williams was fired/replaced; just before that people were talking about that freshmen team winning state that's how good people thought they were and they were. But coach williams left and the team pretty much fell apart. Michael Titlow is a very good ball player according to his parents and a thread that was on here last season he transferred from LC out of respect for coach williams. Not because he was chosing a school based on which coach was there but because of the way they did coach williams I would think that would be hard for a 14-15 year old kid but the way I understand it he did what he said he was going to do and I repect the kid for that. So there's your answer LC has talent, they have good coaches but if you don't play by the rules your replaced by someone who will. I am NOT speaking in regards to any of the current coaches @ LC especially Coach Wells I don't know him that well I'm speaking in general the way it's been in the past. To be honest I've become alittle disgusted with LC sports and have moved on. It's sad the kids and fans deserve better.

  10. Who did Dylan play AAU with this past summer?

I can't remember the name of the team. The coach of the team also helps coach at Maryville, I believe his last name is Nelson but not positive. Has Hood had any college offers? I think he will play at the next level I'm not sure it will be D1 but should play college ball somewhere.

  11. What can we expect from the Lenoir City Panthers this year? Both Tyler Hood and Dylan Powers had good showings over the summer, Hood especially strong with the Travelers. Will they be able to compete with the likes of Maryville, Bearden and Farragut this season? Just curious.... any thoughts? /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

  12. If losing 4 times is giving Grace a run for their money Then I guess you are right haha. Grace will have one new player this year and he moved into knoxville this summer. But if I am correct (not that it really matters) Titlow transfered to greenback just last year. Its really funny how it transfers can only go to your school. Greenback better bring more than Titlow if they even want to give Grace a game. Greenback will not even win districts much less go to State. Grace looks forward to FEEDING Greenback another beating and believe me you will go home FULL.

I saw Titlow play a few weeks ago I don't know what he did over the summer but he looks really good. He's moved from the post to guard/forward knocking down several 3's. He was good before but moving him out to the 3 spot is pretty sweet with his height. He still needs to work on his ball skills other than that he's a very solid player. Sure it'll take more than Titlow to beat grace it's a team sport but he will be the difference maker. This is going to be a great match up I can already tell. We're talking Greenback/Grace basketball on the football thread and it's only September! As an LCHS panther I might even have to go watch this one. I've said this more than once on coacht, lenoir city's loss was greenback's gain we sure could have used him.

  13. Guys,

I'm not trying to dispute your word--either one of you--but just to check myself, I went back to a thread we had in January of '07 concerning William Blount vs Lenoir City Freshmen basketball. I asked CoachinHoops--who if I'm correct was actually the boy's coach at Lenoir City at the time: "Doe Tyler Hood live in the Lenoir City school zone?"

His answer, "Yes he does. Buses run by his house. Our board wouldn't let him in otherwise. We are extremely overcrowded. " That is a direct quote. It's hard for me to believe CoachinHoops would have said that if it were not true.

Govman I have some FACTS for you..... --- Rogers Ridge Rd Kingston, TN which is 6.9 miles from Roane County High School, not 20+ miles like LC is. And Coach Williams was right a bus does run by the house..... a Roane County bus that picks up a family member who attends a Roane County school. Last time I checked Roane/Loudon county buses didn't stop at the same house. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  14. Guys,

This is the last time I will address Hood. You asked "to the best of your knowledge". Hood lives in Kingston, the same house he's lived in since his middle school days. Unless Loudon county has rezoned and to my knowledge they have not Hood does not live in the Lenoir City school zone. End of story he isn't zoned for Lenoir city schools, never has been. If you want to know for sure do some research, get an address and take a trip out to Kingston, then contact Lenoir city's central office and ask for a layout of the schools zoning area. You will not have to dispute my word the kid lives in kingston (roane county). Why do you care so much anyway? It happens all the time. I'm just tired of living in Loudon county and being told our schools are over crowded, taxes will have to be raised and it's for kids who don't even live in loudon county, their parents aren't paying the taxes here so I'm basicly supporting their kid, it's not just Hood he just sticks out everyone wanted to know where this kid came from, people were courious. If LC wants to allow out of county kids they need to be like Maryville or Oak Ridge and have open enrollment with a tuition. But like coachinhoops said tuition was an issue for Hood. Also if I'm wrong why do the travelers have Hood listed as from Kingston/Lenoir City? /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

  15. Dreamnit,

Back during Hood's freshmen year I asked about where he lived since I knew that he had attended Cherokee Middle and I was told he lived in the Lenoir City School Zone and that a Lenoir City bus ran by his house. Is this true or not, to the best of your knowledge?

To the best of my knowledge Hood lives in the same house he lived in during his middle school years, he hasn't moved. He's not zoned for the Lenoir City school system..... again it's to the best of my knowledge.

  16. Wow dream n it, that is a bizarre post, stats and all. You seem to have something personal against Hood and/or LC. LC is better than you give them credit for. Last year in the region, you had the big three of OR, Bearden, and Maryville, then probably Farragut and Powell. After that LC was as good or better than anybody else, playing almost all underclassmen. I don't follow them closely but, on the surface, they appear to be headed in the right direction as a program.

As for Hood, the tone of your posts seem to wreak with jealousy, imo. I've not seen Hood play much but I do read the box scores and for a sophomore, he put up some big numbers against some very stiff AAA competition. I think a sure sign of a good player is when folks start posting backhanded compliments about them on coacht. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

No jealsouy just made a statement that a kid can look better on paper than they actually are. Hood's a great kid and a very hard worker. I didn't mean to take anything away from him personally. Let's get back to talking basketball.

  17. Dream n It,

I don't know who you are, but I am sure you know who I am. If you want to start making allegations on a public forum about things that you have no clue about you need to shut your mouth. All you have to do to answer questions about why Tyler Hood came to Lenoir City is look at Kingston's record the past two seasons. He inquired about Lenoir City, and Oak Ridge when trying to decide where to go to high school. The tuition issue at Oak Ridge prevented that, so the only other logical choice was Lenoir City. As for being promised a starting job that is as ignorant as you appear to be. He didn't even start the first half of the season, until he was ready. As for what Tyler gets, he deserves. He is a great kid and an extremely hard worker. If you want to discuss this further please call me...I work at Rhea County High School and if you will leave me a message I will call you back. As for making any further accusations on this board about any program that I have been associated with, I would prefer you have the facts first.

Hood is a great kid and a very hard worker again I never said he wasn't. You know as well as everyone else strings were pulled to get Hood @ LC. As of the 2002-2003 school year LC no longer accepted out of county students due to over crowding. You said it yourself Kingston didn't have a good record but Hood lives in Kingston. As far as I know my tax dollars support Loudon county not Roane. I didn't say he was promised a starting position, I said playing time. He's a good ball player but when one player is scoring in the mid 20's and only one other player is in double digits against schools in your district like it or not that kids all you've got, that's what I've said all along. I have nothing personal against Hood, wish him all the best.

  18. The only reason Hood looks so good on paper is he's all Lenoir City has plan and simple. There isn't another player on LC's team that scores consistantly in the double digits, maybe one or two even get in the double digits. Hood's a great kid, works very hard, but LC people have built him up to something he's not (he's not even from Lenoir City, lives out of county, another story in it's self). College coaches will look at him because of his stats, but a college coach will see past what's on paper. Wish the kid the best, but he aint all that.

    Dreamnit,

Can't agree with you on your assessment of Lenoir City. I believe the Panthers will be very competitive this year and next year. Hood (like a lot of high school big men) has some areas to improve, but he's well capable of dominating a lot of games right now. Dylan Powers could use a few inches, but he is a pure shooter and could play for any team in the district I believe. I believe they have several other kids with talent and I get the idea from watching them each year during season and in spring/summer ball that these kids love to play and really work hard at it.

Not sure about where Hood lives. I know the rumor floated around for a while last season that he might transfer to Maryville before next school year. Heard anything about that?

Govman I only state the facts. I never said the players don't love the game they are ALL really great young men. My problem is blowing a kid up to something he's just simply not. Like I said in my previous post Hood is a good player and on paper he's a great player but when you look at the whole picture he's not a "great" player. It's kids like this that find out real quick their freshman year of college they aren't all the hometown paper and parents built them up to be. I'll leave you with some facts.....

Like I said Hood's all Lenoir City has and against teams like Maryville, Farragut and Bearden you see where he really is as far as a "great" player.

I heard the Maryville rumor not long ago it was actually a post on coacht, but it was removed VERY quickly. Hood isn't going any where unless he's guaranteed a starting spot and we both know Maryville and Oak Ridge are both to deep in talent to do that..... That's what the good ole boys of Lenoir City are for guaranteeing playing time for an out of county kid when Lenoir City stopped accepting out of county students 5 yrs ago.

  20. I hear Tyler Hood 6'6 from Lenoir City has already been receiving letters. Anyone know who the letters are from. Not sure how to judge the kid. He's tall and a good ball player but he's really all LC had this year, no other player averaged in the double digits. Does this make him look better to colleges averaging in the low 20's on a team with no one else having doubles or does he just look good on paper?
