I’m watching this game on NFHS, amd I’m ashamed to say this is the first time Ive seen Jason Britton play. He’s been impressive today.  He’d started out well, but he’s been kept in check in the second half.

The North Greene defense is porous. I’ve never seen a worse baseline defense at the state tournament level.

the announcer keeps saying FEE, but I’ve never heard it that way. However, the only time I’ve heard it was in reference to the city in New Mexico.

While watching the game, I rewound the broadcast and it appeared that the unsportmanlike penalty was on the receiver#10.  He was apparently pretty unhappy with the no-call in the end-zone.

You couldn't be any less right.  As far as assuming they both score 50 points against Greeneville, there was at least a chance of that happening.  However, there was ZERO chance that they'd not score which is what your 69 point assertion implies.  
I refuse to carry on this silly argument.  The simple fact is that you neglected to count 21 points that were actually scored against Greeneville.  If it makes you feel better to throw out inaccurate statistics, then so be it.  Goodbye Schrodinger

Schrodinger?  It doesn't take quantum physics to see that you're completely off-base if you can't see that the 69 point total completely excluded those 2 games.  Let's stick to basic math, and not physics.
Do you have any idea what you're talking about?  Dobyns-Bennett had already scored 14 points when the game was suspended.  Alcoa had already scored 7 points, and it wasn't even half-time.  Regardless of whether they scored again or not, the 69 points mentioned in an earlier post DOES NOT include the suspended games. If you add in those partial games, it's 90 points.  Without those 2 games, the remainder of the schedule is pretty weak.  Elizabethton, Morristown West, and Tennessee High were the only reasonably tough games this year during the regular season.

To be fair, that's a bit misleading since this doesn't include the Dobyns-Bennett and Alcoa games.

I’m from upper East Tennessee, and I don’t recall these 2 being “powerhouses”. Heck, I honestly don’t remember both of them being really good.(at least in the last 30 years).

Has either team made it past round 3 since the TSSAA went to 6A classification?

And now I’ve been told we can’t bring our cowbells. They have their band sitting in the visitors section. And to add insult to injury, they are having their alumni band and seating them in the visitors section also. They only sent us 1,000 tickets. This is a really bad look for 6A DB. Maybe next year, we will only allow you to bring a pep band. Bunch of Chickens! LOL

Does DB still video stream their games? I know they have in the past.

Agreed. Based on lighting in the 10 mile radius, this game wouldn’t have restarted, regardless of how badly some wanted it played. 

One of the radio guys said this morning, that as he was leaving the stadium at 10:45, there was another flash of lightning seen in the area.

Based on this, the 30 minute delay puts you at 11:15, and then a minimum 20 minute warm-up, and it's after 11;30, assuming no more lightning is seen.

This being broadcast on Rivalry Thursday on WKNX channel 7 out of Knoxville if you have an antenna. Not sure if they livestream.

Not sure if you were watching the GHS-DB game, or if you just over-exaggerate everything.  I recorded the game last night, and just now went back and checked it.  The first half took 70 minutes. This included a 4 minute delay after the opening kick-off due to a clock malfunction.

radio has to fit their commercials in, when TV is there they control how long in-between drives/timeouts. 

Oh yeah, I absolutely get it. I don’t see 1break on that list that wouldn’t have occurred wit or without tv. Unlike college and pro Gabe’s which have a specific time for additional stoppages, these were all normal stoppages.

The broadcasters did mention there would be hydration breaks around the 6:00 minute mark of each quarter. Since DB scored near the 6 minute mark of the 2nd quarter, they didn’t need the hydration break. Same in 3rd qtr; change of possession negated the need for the 3rd qtr hydration break.
Here are the commercials breaks from the first half:

1st qtr  11:39  GHS score 

1st qtr  6:09  scheduled hydration break

1st qtr  3:42 followed GHS punt

1st qtr 0:00  end of 1st qtr

2nd qtr 6:16  DB score

2nd qtr 3:20  GHS injured player

as you can see, there were no “ planned” commercial breaks for media that we don’t see every week with the radio broadcast.

These weren’t tv timeouts. It was mentioned on the broadcast that there would be stoppages every 6 minutes of game play for hydration breaks. I think they mentioned every 3 minutes in the second half

I'm the original poster on this topic.  It has created a lot of discussion, and a lot of it is geared around the playoffs,

For my discussion, I was only referring to the regular season.  I know there is a lot more to consider when discussing the playoffs, but the regular season should be pretty simplistic.

If there are any Elizabethton fans interested, it would be interesting to hear the reason given to  Tom Taylor. I know that he wasn’t allowed to stream on their last non-playoff visit to Greeneville. 
Same w/Dobyns-Bennett. I know they weren’t allowed to stream from Burley Stadium either. 
Not trying to be disagreeable, but if it’s simply a matter of lost gate receipts, why allow WCYB to broadcast from GHS for the televised game of the week?  When most other schools allow it, it’s not a good look for GHS.

Reitzfan, I don’t think they’d ever do that since radio broadcasters are allowed from Kingsport and Elizabethton. 
 

Rodgerdodger,  you could be right, but it makes no sense. Both of those games will be standing room only, whether it’s on tv or not. Also, if Greeneville was doing this only because of the gate, why would they agree to be the game of the week on WCYB for the same game? I know that they’ve allowed WCYB to broadcast the home Elizabethton game  before. 

Not sure if it’s been discussed or not(hopefully, I haven’t  posted about it before), but why doesn’t Greeneville allow other broadcasters to live stream their football games?  
 

The exception to this is the FRIDAY NIGHT RIVALS, broadcast from WCYB or WVLT.  I know that Dobyns-Bennett makes their games(home & away) available on you tube. Also, Tom Taylor will livestream the Elizabethton games. 
Both have been unable to livestream from GHS, and both have mentioned that GHS wouldn’t allow it. 
This is great for the fans that can’t make the trip, or older fans that can’t get around, or for inclement weather situations.

I honestly can’t think of a good reason for them to stop this. It seems petty, or extremely arrogant, or both. I can’t think that it’s due to a loss of gate revenue, because the Elizabethton and DB Hanes are packed anyway.  Does WGRV have enough say in the matter to be the roadblock? 
 

Is anyone on here aware of the reason from a reliable source?

Recently saw this year’s schedule, and noticed that Greeneville goes to Dobyns Bennett again this year. Wondering what happened to the alternating years? Did Greeneville have to trade two for one on home games?
