  1. At the risk of sounding like a jerk...have you ever played sports? ( I'm assuming you have) You know that when you play on a team that is considered "better" than the rest it is hard to get up and get excited about playing an "underdog" i.e. central, hampton, greeneville, volunteer and whoever else. I dont doubt that hampton is a good ball team. But lets be real. They are not on SH level. To prove my point they lost to SH by 10 or 12 and everyone acts like its the state finals or something? it was a consolation game that didnt matter. I can hear it now "Back in my day we almost beat Science Hill over at the arbys". Is hampton an above average/pretty good team. By all means yes. Lots of talent. and its good to see them play well and represent the small schools. im happy for them. but in all honesty can you sit there and watch these two teams play at the top if their game and say Science HIll and Hampton are pretty even!" no chance my man. and they shouldnt be even. SHHS is huge and has more depth and talent. But that is not my point. When both teams play at their highest level...Hampton is not in the same category. With that said if SH played hampton ten times...hampton might win one or two. but thats why high school sports are great...anyone can beat anyone. but on a regular night it wouldnt happen. Im really not trying to be a jerk or rude. I love a good debate and this is whyi joined the site. dont think im being cocky or anyhitng. its just a fact. shoulda woulda coulda? shhs won. a win is a win. check the column...when its all said and done shhs got a w bc they are better. they would getthe w anywhere home or away against a team like hampton. They should get a W...look at the difference in size.....your turn??????????

Like their 4 point win 67-63 over Sullivan Central at Science Hill a Cougar team that lost to Unaka the last place team in Hampton's league. Science Hill wouldn't come to Hampton and play for no amount of money. They might walk the dog in seasons past but the talent level is about the same this year.

  2. Well Unaka came and played flat, uninspired baseball. Pierce didn't pitch very well, hitting wasn't very good, just an overall blah game... I hope they decide to come and play the next two games...

Give credit to their pitcher. He threw well.

Jordan Taylor and Drew Chambers 2-3 each

Jeff Peters, Josh Peterson, Franky Covarrubias and Wilson 1 hit each

Joseph Wilson a huge double that tied the game.

Unaka only made one error so the defense wasn't bad.

Pierce was fine after the first.

Dustin Taylor big game at 2nd base and his brother Logan at thir

North Greene beat Hancock County 3-2

    Hopson was the winning pitcher

  3. Grace or Cloudland will get destroyed by 20+ if they get Manassas or Humboldt in the first round... I really hope they do... I would love to see west west vs east east... in the first round... I hate the fact that there are probably 10 better single A teams that don't go to the state that are better than the best out of region 1 and 2 but due to the area you play in you are "allowed" to go to the state tournament... It's been that way ever since I have been keeping up with single A... and all I ever hear for a rebutle is Unaka won it in 04'... WOW one lucky year a region 1 or 2 team wins it out of the last 32... congrats...

[]They said the same thing in 2004

    Unaka State Champions[]

  4. I agree the offense has to get it goin , but in all fairness Unaka had a good game plan to stop the run and our QB played his best game of the season and bailed us out. Our "D" was still super tough and regardless of what the score or sportiemom says we dominated this game from the get go. We should have still had 40 lots of penalties and a HUGE fumble inside their 10 or this one was never close. Again Unaka is far better now than they were earlier so your Landers better be ready for a fight when you get to them Unaka will be WAY better next year.

    You dominated the game

    Cosby's scoring drives

    Unaka fumbles on the 10,

    Unaka fumbles on the 9

    Two touchdown 19 yards total

Safety in the endzone after Unaka recovered a fumble inside the one.

    Total Points- 15

Unaka gets a pass to the 5 called back on a penalty

QB takes a 14 yard sack after moving to the 12 midway in the fourth. Should have come away with a field goal but took them out of range.

I hardly call that total dominance.

  5. I'd rather have quiters go ahead and do there thing now and quit the entire program in the the pre-season than have them quit on me on the field in late October-early November.

Coach Ensor has had MANY "talented" players quit on him, and he's always done fine.

Who quit or is it just rumors?

  6. Pujo, mine are already pitching fits, except they don't quit until daddy gets them out of the crib! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Seriously, this is getting to be an epidemic at every school in this county. I wasn't worth a dime when I played ball, but I never one time thought about quitting. I learned a lot when I played under coach Lunsford about getting going when the going gets tough. It applies to everything in life, especially one day when these kids will become parents and have people depending on them. Quitting is not an option. Then again, it could be the process of a good coach weeding out the weak links. Talented players have quit on Mike, but it seemed like his teams would be better off in the long run. I look for the same with coach Ensor. I'm sure he's not too worried.

What are you all talking about and who was suppose to have quit at Unaka? I hear they are talented but young.

AZ, forget about the dime, you're weren't worth a plug nickle.

  7. Do you know anything about the transfers? Im pretty interested to see how they will do at the scrimmage since they will be playing basicaly a whole new team. I know Mike will have them ready for next season, he is just that kind of coach. I have had alot of the kids working out with me since football season ended , I just hope they keep it up this summer . They all need the strength and size. Pretty talented bunch of kids just not very big.

baggage and plenty of it. i wouldn't count my chickens before their hatched just yet. the old changing addresses on a piece of paper won't work this time. higher people up are well aware of it.

  8. it's hard to predict Tim. One week he will pick Hampton to get beat the Stoner Creekers or say that the Dawgs are lucky due to the injuries of the Oneida, Midway, and Harriman QB's (Nick Goins last year). But the next week he acts like he likes the Dawgs. Hard to tell with him...

did you every think that maybe he was trying to get them fired up. deep down i bet his blood still bleeds blue a little bit. he's a bulldog

  9. just from reading your post i am assuming your child didn't get to play. what was the final score in the game because i am sure science hill has a very strong team? if they kept it close give unaka credit. it hard for freshman parents to realize that high school basketball is no longer jr high nor youth club. coaches are going to put the best players out on the floor. judge them by how the team does and not your child's playingtime. i doubt if they care what jr. high program any of them came out of. unaka has some good coaches who will get that program back on track.

  10. if the unaka offense can play like it did against jellico and they play defese like it did in the second half this game might be closer than some people think. second half against jellico was the best them guys have played all year

oneida is a great team but everbody is 0-0 in the playoffs

good luck hampton, cloudland, hv and unaka

  11. Another thing, I don't understand why they would cuss little Mike. He's a good kid who's never had a bad word to say about Cloudland. Lets behave like Americans, not Iranians.

You need to behave like Stoney Creekers, your true blooded Americans! /motorbike.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":motorbike:" border="0" alt="motorbike.gif" />

  12. So this is cry baby Townsend who's been down on Cloudland all year. Maybe you should learn to forget the classless act of a few fans back in 05. You think way too much of yourself. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

And this from the man with saggging muscles that that couldn't bench press styrophome.

Quit trying to play the part of Butthead, its Beavis you look like /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
