  1. We lack a true 4 position player when Chism and Smith leave. Pearl is set on playing Negedu/ Williams at the 5, and Woolridge is too slow and weak to play the 4. He's big enough, but he lacks the skill set in my opinion. Kenny Hall should help out some, but I think Pearl is going to try and go after a top player to fill that spot. Just my view on it.

Dont forget we still have Phillip Jurrick on the bench. He is a kid from Chattanooga, he was ranked in the Rivals top 100 last year. We have redshirted him thats why he hasnt seen the court so far this year.

He is 6'11 & is a great defensive presence in the paint, he will block alot of shots. But his offense is suspect thats why Pearl redshirted him, atleast thats what i heard.

Next year i could see our lineup being:

    1. Maze/ ( or maybe Daniel West, he stayed on campus & school to bring his grades up, & he will be able to play next year. Some people have said he is better than Maze )

    2. Hopson

    3. Prince

    4. Negedu

    5. Jurrick

  2. I really dont know. That would probably be the most likely decision. But getting McBee wouldn't a total bad idea either. Cause one of the guards they are getting is like top 5 or top 10 in the nation. The type of player thats probably gunna leave after one or two years.

As of right now we have 1 scholarship open for the 09' recruiting class & we have already used that on Kenny Hall from Georgia i think he is ranked somewhere in the 50's on rivals top 150. He will something like a Tyler Smith mold but not as good as T. Smith.

But like i previously said i think Chism or T. Smith will go pro if not both of them opening up atleast 1 scholarship.

For the 10' recruiting class we have 2 scholarships open as of right now & both of those are being used on Josh Selby a guard ranked 5th in rivals top 100 for 10' & Jordan Mcrae a guard ranked in the 20's on rivals top 100 for 10'

  3. WRONG! There may or may not be issues of race in Seymour but NOT on this team! All of these girls except for one have grown up in this community together, including CS. Mom doesn't like any coach that coaches her kids for any amount of time. She told everyone that she was transferring her kids in 7th grade, 8th grade, before this season (she missed 2 weeks of practice because she "transferred" to a school in Nashville- by the way she never enrolled anywhere else). She isn't treated like everyone else, she is treated better. The entire offense is run through her, she has played more minutes than anyone else on the team, she has taken 50% more shots than anyone else on the team. That being said, who cares who is taking the shots as long as you are winning, and they have had a very strong season to date. I'm not sure but think their record is better than last year, while replacing their top 2 scorers and starting a freshman, soph, Junior and a first year starting senior! If she tranfers she will be missed for her performance on the court. However, we will be ok next year either way as our 3 top scorers(Slay/FR, Brown/SO, Cowan/JR), 2 top rebounders( Slay, Brown), assists (Brown, Cowan), steals (Brown, Cowan), and blocks (Slay, Brown) are all underclassmen. That's not to say we won't miss our 4 seniors Ashleigh Elliott, Monica Rogers, Tiffany Miles, and Sarah Black- they are all unbelievable competitors and great contributors to Seymour's team! They would have been a mess this year without them and they are our team captains.

Who knows how much a player will improve from their freshman year. But, there are no issues of race on the girl's basketball team, let alone "a lot of issues". As for coach Rines, he has been around the game forever, coached at just about every level expept the pros (including HS boys at Heritage, HS girls previously at Seymour, HS girls at West, college at Maryville, Rocky Top league). Try to find hardly anyone that has something negative to say about him.... Sometimes you have to consider the source.

Sorry to kidnap the thread! But, that needed to be addressed. The girls on that team are all good teammates and coach Rines is a good coach and person and has done a great job this year!

Im not going to argue with anything you just said because i dont know enough about Seymours team or Christinas mother to know if she is reliable on what she says. But that is what was told to me by her, but i do know she has threatned to transfer Slay a few times & hasnt happened yet so mayber its another one of those scenarios. but thanks for the post & info. Ill be over there Monday night for the game against Alcoa & at the game against Grainger.

  4. But like I was saying earlier.

They have two guards who both are probably better than him(maybe, only time will tell) coming in for the 10-11 season. So the question is... Do they NEED him? Wake would need him in a couple years more than Tennessee would need him in a couple years.

That is true. But who would Tennessee use the open scholarship on? Mabye another post player or something? Bruce wont just not use an open scholarship.

  5. Yes the college game is different, but the physical part is the easier thing to overcome if you are already physical like Skylar. The biggest change to College is the pace of play. That will be his biggest challenge. And to answer your question he can play in the SEC or ACC right now. Does that mean UNC or Duke? no, but he can fit in at a lower tier team of one of those conferences and be ready.

Bruce Pearl doesnt think the easiest thing to overcome is the physical part. I was listening to one of his interviews the other day & he was talking about the hardest thing for Scotty Hopson to overcome was the physical part. He said the another year in the college weight training & Scotty would be ready to tear up the league.

    Skylar McBee 6'2 165(+/-)

    Nolan Smith(Duke starting PG) 6'2 185

    Bobby Maze(UT starting PG) 6'2 185

    Jeff Teague(Wake starting PG) 6'2 180

Now if Skylar played football, then I am sure he is physical enough. And with a good weight program he will easily gain the weight and extra strength that he needs to play at the top D1 level.

Just because Skylar played football doesnt mean he can be physical enough in college basketball. & yes your right a year in a college weight program would def get him ready.

  6. You guys are going to tell me that he is big enough & physical enough right now to play everyday in the SEC or ACC!?! Lol thats funny. No he isnt. The college game is way different than high school. Thats the only thing he needs to work on just get bigger & more physical.

  7. Skylar would have to improve his defense & become more physical, maybe add a little more muscle also to be able to play at Wake or Tennessee. The kid can flat out play though no question about that.

  8. CCHS-91

    JCHS-60

Wasnt a game at all CCHS took control early & coast all the way to victoy. I will say this CCHS could have EASILY scored over 100 points in this game, but Coach Evans decided to put his second unit into the game with around 4 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter. The second unit had a huge scoreless drought in the 4th & by the time they started knocking down shots their was around a minute left.

So by my understanding the win over JCHS last night gives CCHS the 2nd seed & a bye in the conference tourney right?

  9. I will make this observation about your Friday night request...we will likely have AT LEAST 7 Friday night conference games next year. So considering that the season doesn't usually start until December, with Christmas break, you are going to have a hard time finding a Friday available. I understand you wanting to keep a natural rival on your schedule.

Jeff County already plays Sevier County and South Doyle, so that is 6 of the 7 that will be in our conference next year. Change out Seymour for Greeneville, and then the rest of the schedule stays pretty much intact. I think you will find that Seymour next year will be just as good a measuring stick as Greeneville has been.

I think the only team Greeneville currently plays that will be in thier conference next year is South Greene, so they are going to have a major reshuffling of thier schedule.

Good luck to Jeff County tonight. Cocke County spoiled our Senior Night last year, maybe we can return the favor tonight....

    /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Your right on about Seymour! I saw them play Friday night against Fulton. If any one didnt know Seymour has a girl on the team by the name of Christina Slay, she is the younger sister of former Tennessee standout Ron Slay. The girl is the real deal. Be looking for her to make some noise in the conference next year & by the time she is a Senior b/c she is only a Freshman she should be one of the best in the state.

But thats if she doesnt transfer after the school year. I talked to her mom during the game & she said their has been alot of issues with race & she isnt very fond of the head coach at Seymour.

  10. I personally know the west high team and know that they do have a 6'4 player

Okay, if thats the truth then where has he been at the two games they played CCHS?

Because i personally know Hunter Docker & Barry Huffhines i have asked both of them their heights & neither one of them are 6'4 & when CCHS played MWHS there wasnt one player on that team as tall as Dockery of Huffhines

  11. West High has one player 6'4, 2 players 6'3, and one 6'2. Dockery and Huffhines are both listed on the team's roster has 6'5.

They lied! Ask CCHS2 Dockery is no way 6'5. & their is not one player on West team taller than Huffhine's or Dockery!!

  12. West actually has two players taller than 6'1 one is 6'4 and the other is 6'3

    No possible way!

Hunter Dockery who play's for CCHS is no way taller than 6'3 & their is not one player on West team that is as tall as he is. Atleast that i have seen from the games West has played against CCHS. West might have a player 6'2 but that's stretching it.

  13. Grainger - 51

    Cocke County - 49

Grainger dominated CCHS in the post tonight. Grainger to the lead 5-3 early in the first & never gave it up. CCHS was down 10 @ halftime & was down by as much as 15 in the 2nd half, Marcus Stewart stepped it up for CCHS in the 2nd half & brought the team all the way back late to tie it up with around 2 minute's to go. Game was tied 59-59 with 6.8 second's left to play, Grainger had the ball & had to go full length of the court but a foul was called on CCHS which sent Grainger to the line. They hit both to go up 51-49. CCHS called a TO, then got the ball into Marcus Stewart's hand's he drove the entire length of the floor missed a tough layup & Hunter Dockery couldnt get the tip on on the opposite side, therefore giving you the Grainger win by 2

Marcus Stewart had 26 for CCHS

Humphrey for Grainger had 24 & if anyone is wondering Skylar McBee added 10.

  14. Again, Dick, if you will carefully read the posts there were no excuses just stating facts while analyzing the games. You have to admit that I am not the only one disgusted with the officiating in the IMAC. There is a consensus that seems to be forming on this thread (from most of the teams represented) that the IMAC refs need some improvement.

One HUGE problem i have with the officiating in the IMAC is they let ref's that graduated from a IMAC school officiat their alma mater at time's. I have seen that done many time's over the year's.

  15. If you guy's would like to re-read my post, NOT one time did i say the ref's cost CCHS the game. Did i say it was horrible officiating like usual IMAC game's yes i did & i wont retract that statement, but NOT once did i say CCHS lost the game because of the ref's. CCHS lost the game because they are not the better team, they lost the game because of turnover's, missed easy shot's, & free throw's. BUT when the game was cut to 3 were they some questionable call's yes especially the charge & T that was called.

As for the over the back call's i will stick with my statement of saying she was climbing back's because she was! Did the ref's get the wrong call on the charge yes, look up the rule & it will say what i put. & as for the Technical foul it was on Wade & from my point of few it was a wrong call, now could i hear what Wade said no of course not but by his action's he didnt deserve a Technical.

& yes i agree with you if MW & CCHS played 10 time's MW would win 9 of 10. MW is simply the better team i have'nt denied that at all, they just simply have more playmaker's & shooter's.

As for as me saying MW won by 14 because foul after foul was called that also is a true statement.

  16. Mo West pulled out the victory tonight over CCHS 64-50!

It was a packed house tonight, standing room only. With the Lady Red wearing the Pink Uni's you could feel the intensity in the gym during warm up's.

In the first half CCHS came out like they usually do, really flat & made a ton of turnover's, missed alot of easy layup's & free throw's. While Mo West came out knocking down wide open 3's left & right. Mo West went into halftime with a 10 point lead.

In the second half the Lady Red came out fired up & made some great run's to cut the lead down to 3 at one point. Now i have been on here reading post people have put about how horrible the IMAC ref's are & tonight was'nt any different. The Hall girl for West was climbing the back's of Lady Red defender's all night after rebound's but the stripe's refused to call anything! Mid 4th quarter the Lady Red cut the lead down to 4 point's West turn the ball over & CCHS came racing down the court, a charge was called on CCHS ( which it was NOT a charge!! An offensive player must have room to come down after leaping in the air for a rebound or a pass. A CCHS player jumped in the air to catch a pass as she turned her head in air to come down Hall set up for a charge while she was in the air right under neath her ) as soon as the ref turned to make the foul call to the score's table he T'd Wester up for arguing the call which in turn lost all momentum for CCHS & from that point on foul after foul after foul was called on CCHS therefore giving you the 14 point win by Mo West.

I would really like to be able to go to ONE game in the IMAC confere & be able to see a well ref'd game. I have been going to IMAC game's for year's & they seem to be getting worse & worse.

  17. From checking the scoreboard looks like Mo. West played Cocke Co. a tough game. Where was this one and did the Trojans have a chance to win down the stretch? How tall are Cocke Co.'s post players? I saw West play at South Monday night and was impressed with their offensive efficiency. They knocked down a lot of jump shots.

The game was @ Cocke County & it was like Dejavu all over again for West. The same thing that happened tonight happened over @ West earlier this season.

Cocke County came out flat in the first 2 quarter's making stupid costly turnover's & not making easy basket's. Mo West got the lead out to 13 in the 3rd quarter but Cocke County finally got into a rythm late into the 3rd & carried that into the 4th. Cocke County strecthed the lead out to as much as 10 but West made a run with 2:00 minute's to go in the game. CCHS ended up pulling out the win 50-47.

West was'nt knocking down alot of shot's tonight but neither was CCHS. CCHS's leading scorer Marcus Stewart had a off night & didnt score more than 10. As for West's post play, they dont have a guy on the team taller than 6'1 while CCHS has 3 guy's 6'2 or taller that's where the game was won tonight for CCHS was in the post.
