1. QUOTE(HSsportfan @ Mar 6 2007 - 04:21 PM) 826402536I don't know where shpshter93 got the idea that Vandy had a post player from York. This really has nothing to do with this thread anyway. Seems like the posts got off subject for a little while.

I would really love to see the Stone Lady Panthers make some big noise. Top of bracket seems to be anyones to take. Appears that all teams are fairly evenly matched in the W/L categories from that half. Same on the other half but with better W/L percentages. Will be interesting to see how this one plays out.

    LET"S PLAY BALL!

    GO LADY PANTHERS!!!!

Livingston Academy has been preparing for these tough teams all season. Playing the toughest schedule in the state in my opinion. Teams like Cleveland, Antioch, Beech, Brentwood, Loudon, David Lipscomb, and Upperman. I see them making some big noise in the tournament.

    GOOD LUCK LADY WILDCATS!!!

  2. QUOTE(hoops fan2 @ Mar 1 2007 - 06:20 PM) 826395656la girls are licking some bad wounds

did not play well against anybody in the region

maybe that will motivate them to do well

also they have a lot of seniors, should be another motivation for them

still, i think they will not be able to hold it out for a win ----

LA made it to the District and Regional Championship so I think thats pretty good. Yeah they lost both championships, but they was play the Upperman Bee's on their homecourt. So there was big advantage there for the Bee's. I just pray that these two losses to the Bee's don't make the Lady Wildcats doubt theirselves. LA is a very good ball team full of seniors and I believe if them two tournaments had been played at nuetral courts there would have been different outcomes. Girls you just have to believe in yourselves like your fans do. Play your game Lady Wildcats.

GOOD LUCK LADY WILDCATS GO ALL THE WAY!!!

  3. QUOTE(bobcat15 @ Mar 1 2007 - 01:25 PM) 826395145Here are the Sub-state games...Who wins 'em? Who will be the last team standing?

    Stone Memorial at Elizabethon

    Marshall Co at McNairy Central

    Livingston Academy at Mcminn Central

    Westview at BT Washington

    Claiborne at Austin East

    Liberty at David Lipscomb

    Sequatchie Co at Upperman

    Mitchell at Jackson Northside

Stone Memorial= Just a little bit better than Elizabethon.

McNairy Central= Wins with homecourt advantage.

Livingston Academy= HOG-EYE wins this year!!!

    Westview= Wins in Memphis.

Austin East= I like Austin East.

    David Lipscomb= Excellent ball team.

Upperman= Has excellent three point shooters.

Jackson Northside= Just have a feeling.

  4. QUOTE(logcabinman @ Feb 28 2007 - 10:03 PM) 826394192Is this not the 3rd or 4th year in a row that LA and MC have met in the sub-state. It is a shame that these 2 teams have to meet this early and not at Murphy.

Five years ago they met at substate and LA came out of top. Four years ago they played each other at the State Championship and LA won their 4th State Championship. Last year they met again at substate and McMinn won by 2. And now they meet again this sat for substate again.

GOOD LUCK LADY WILDCATS GO ALL THE WAY!!!

  5. This should be a great game. I hate that I am going to have to miss it. Play hard so I can watch you play again at the state tournament. Use all the anger you had from last year when MC beat you and use it in this game. Your a great ball team LA and I know you can pull off the win.

GOOD LUCK LADY WILDCATS GO ALL THE WAY!!!

  6. QUOTE(logcabinman @ Feb 28 2007 - 09:32 PM) 826394092Have you seen LA play? Why them over MC?

He is from Smith Co. which is in the same district as LA so he has more than likely seen LA play three times against the Owlettes of Smith Co.

  7. Congrats Bees.

LA keep your heads up you are still a great team so don't doubt yourself. The refs just let Upperman play to phyiscal against. Play hard and win these state tournament games so we can have another chance against the Bees in the Championship. I would like to see these two teams fight it out on a nuetral floor. Hog-eye will be behind you all the way. We have faith in the Lady Wildcats.

GOOD LUCK LADY WILDCATS GO ALL THE WAY!!!

  8. QUOTE(hoops fan2 @ Feb 26 2007 - 09:49 PM) 826390971first off - it was not a "whipping" ---- it was really a two point loss - SCHS has several chances to put the game away, but the dice fell the other way ---

in closing seconds, after LA missed free throws, SCHS rebounded --- girl drove length of court for a last ditch effort to tie - the girl was triple teamed and her shot rolled around and missed -

Ferris was there to rebound, but fouled -- then bless her heart, she got aggravated and pushed a girl -- and got T'd up - she wanted to win so badly after coming from a 12 point deficit - that's right, schs was down by a dozen and battled back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so there were the last four points to make it a six point win

TO ALL THE NAY SAYERS -- IT IS NEVER OVER UNTIL IT IS OVER ---

I''M SURE FOLKS TURNED OFF THE RADIO WHEN THERE WAS A 12 POINT DIFFERENCE -- BUT SCHS BATTLED BACK -- THOSE GIRLS FOUGHT VERY HARD -- THEY SHOULD BE PROUD -- ESPECIALLY AGAINST A TEAM THAT IS SO DEEP FROM THE BENCH --- AND SCHS JUST IS NOT, AT LEAST NOT THIS YEAR

LA has gotten lucky these two region games and i do mean lucky !!! but that's how it goes -- but they are not playing good ball -- don't know what is wrong, but they are not gelling at all

CONGRATS TO KAYCI FERRIS --- FRESHMAN --- WATCH OUT FOR THE LADY OWLS NEXT YEAR !!!!

good luck to 7aa --- represent us well as you go forward !!

Lets not put down the LA girls. They worked hard tonight to get there shot around the 6'8" Kayci Ferris and I am very proud of them. I knew going into the game we wouldn't whip Smith Co. definatly since we was going to be without one of our starters and it would be a hard fought win because Kayci change the game so much. I want to congratulate the Lady Wildcats for sticking with it and pulling out the win with it being so close at the end.

I also would like the congratulate the Owlettes for fighting till the end and never giving up. And congrats to Kayci for the big numbers she put up tonight. I hope you will support us through the rest of the tournament and good luck next.

  9. QUOTE(King21 @ Feb 26 2007 - 09:56 PM) 826390988aight, round 4 between these teams, who wins

The Lady Wildcats have to have the toughest schedule in the state playing Upperman the #1 team in the state 4 times in one season but I hope they meet again for the 5th time too at the State Championship in the boro.

GOOD LUCK LADY WILDCATS GO ALL THE WAY!!!

  10. QUOTE(BDP_FAN @ Feb 26 2007 - 03:55 PM) 826390318Now you've started with the name calling cause I don't think your team is impressive. Showing your true colors I see. Apparently you do care about my opinion because you keep responding to it and getting more and more upset, enough to call me names.... /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> And as far as I remember, anytime a team scores the most points, they ALWAYS win.... It would have taken 5 more games for LA to score 40 more points only hitting 2 buckets per half...... /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Do you seriously think we always only hit 2 buckets per half. When we are the #6 team in the state and when we have played the tough schedule that we have. Playing and beating teams like Cleavland and Upperman. Come on seriously!!! Ok so we had an off night, I know it and the LA girls do too. But we won thats all that matters. Lets move on to the next game.

  11. QUOTE(bfan @ Feb 26 2007 - 03:26 PM) 826390274The Stephens girl for LA is sick, will she play tonight, this

could make for a closer game. GO LA!!!!!

I have heard she wont play. This will make for closer game because I feel Mallie is the best at stealing the ball and the best at the full court press. The other girls for LA will just have to step up. I hope this doesn't hurt the LA girls. It would be ashame to lose becuase one of their players was sick.

GOOD LUCK LADY WILDCATS GO ALL THE WAY!!!

  12. QUOTE(Antwan @ Feb 25 2007 - 06:12 PM) 826388999I guess the truth hurts there too. She will more than likely be the #1 player in the state in a couple of years. She will have a chance

to play for UT. She is a Miss Basketball candidate as a freshman.

Maybe arrogant is not the right word...it's sounds more like jealousy.

Nah...don't hurt me. It just gives SC a little more incentive.

I have no doubt she wont be the best in the state by the time she is a senior and that she will have a chance to play at UT, but she will never be a Candace Parker.

  13. QUOTE(Antwan @ Feb 25 2007 - 05:33 PM) 826388923Ferriss had 23 points on 11 of 12 from the field in that game. If that's awesome defense...we'll take it. She just didn't get the ball enough

because of the turnovers. LA cannot defend her down low.

I did like all of the comments in the Overton County News after that game. I'm sure our girls read that.

Here is what was said in the Overton County News.

    "By MAC McLEOD, OCN Sports

At 6' 8", Smith County's Kayci Farris is perhaps the tallest girls high school basketball player in the state. Her height alone makes her a formable obstacle to any opponent, and somewhere along the line she's determined to play her college ball at the University of Tennessee and be a star.

Recently Farris told one of the Nashville television stations she was going to UT and be the next Candace Parker. Parker is one of the best players in the nation.

"She may go to UT, and she may be a good player, but right now she's no Candace Parker," Livingston Academy's Ashley Matthew flatly pointed out Friday night after the Lady Wildcats toppled Farris and her Smith County teammates in commanding fashion, 56-42.

Farris got her normal 20 plus points, but she didn't compare to 5"6" Matthews .

LA head coach Lesley Smith said, "That may have been Ashley's best game ever at Livingston Academy. She did everything from taking a couple rebounds from Farris to nailing more points. She played her heart out tonight, and I was so proud of her."

Farris scored 23 points, grabbed more rebounds than anyone on the floor, and had 4 blocked shots in one period; but it still wasn't enough to topple Livingston. Matthews nailed 25 points and simply controlled the tempo of the entire game.

And she got a lot of help. Inside, Brittany McCoin played perhaps her best game as a Lady Wildcat, going toe to toe with the much taller Farris and coming away with 6 points, but just as important, she never gave an inch inside.

"Well," McCoin started out, "you have to respect her height, but you have to figure a way to hold her out, and tonight we just went at her as hard as we could and it paid off.

"Kendria (Kilgore) faked her one way and scored the other way, and Britany (Smith) just never gave up inside. "

If those arrogant comments don't get our girls fired up...nothing will.

I didn't say she completly shut her down but she played about as good as defense as you can on someone that is 6'8".

I don't find any of that article arrogant. It's just telling the truth. If anything is arrogant it is what Kaci Ferris told Fox 17 News.

  14. QUOTE(Antwan @ Feb 25 2007 - 12:41 PM) 826388462The regular season game at LA was led by SC most of the game. LA made a run late and won by 4. SC led by 7 at the half...and

3 and the end of the 3rd. It was not an easy win. If SC can handle the press...and get the ball to Ferriss...they have a good

chance to win. LA has no answer for her inside. It just depends on how many times they can get her the ball by not turning it over like

they did the last time they played.

I know Brittany McCoin isn't no where near as tall as Kaci Ferris but she played awesome defense on her last time at Smith Co. The LA girls had a little bit of a scare friday night against White House late in the game when they was only 2 ahead. I believe LA didnt play no where near as hard as they had been because I know they are alot better than White House and I think they are going to be fired up monday night.

    GO HOG-EYE ALL THE WAY!!!

  15. QUOTE(BDP_FAN @ Feb 24 2007 - 02:04 PM) 826387298You have GOT to be kidding???!!!!!! The refs did a good job, maybe LA just isn't as good as you hoped they were..... How do you get to be the number 6 team in the state and only hit 3 buckets from inside the 3-point line? Out of the 44 you scored, 20 of them come from the foul line.... They were/are better than White House but not impressive at all.....

Apparently this was the first time you have seen the Lady Wildcats of LA play this season. They are a whole lot better than White House. The only reason White House stayed in the game was because of the refs. They was a litte off on their shots last night I have to agree but I believe they deserve that number 6. And you would too if you had seen them play more this year. LA and Upperman are the top teams in AA I believe and everyone will find out very soon.

  16. QUOTE(glover @ Feb 23 2007 - 10:00 PM) 826386760Where are the next games? and when?

    2/26

Semi-Finals of Region will be held at Upperman High School gym in Baxter

    Upperman vs. DCA 8:00?

    Livingston Academy vs. SmithCo. 6:30?

These times are just a guess. Please correct me if I am wrong.

  17. QUOTE(Wildcat 1970 @ Feb 23 2007 - 09:03 PM) 826386647LA girls will whip Smith County.

    Wildcat 1970

I agree but if them stupid ref's are back from tonights game between LA and White House it will be a lot closer game. They was the worst I have ever seen.

  18. QUOTE(worthyone @ Feb 21 2007 - 10:36 PM) 826383917District 7-AA will sweep and prove it again is one of the districts in the state.

Would this be 2 straight years 7-AA swept if it happened?

Yes. Livingston Academy, Smith Co., York Institute, and Upperman all advanced to the second round last year at White House. LA and York played for the Championship.
