The reason Franklin is down this year is because they dont have pitching. The district is not near as competitive as it was last year since Overton moved out. High school baseball has a lot to do on who has the most pitching and Independence definitely has that. I havent seen a Rebels team like this in awhile. I like Little, Raley (defensively), and Gavigan is surprising me this year too. However, who are the base stealers this year. Franklin got a lot of runs because of how many times their coach from last year stole. I know Grider had a lot of steals and Young from last year had over 40 or something. This allowed Franklin to get many of their runs. Maybe the new coach needs to start stealing more. I know the Rebels have speed in their lineup.

i agree that Franklin is down this year and most of these kids have never played on a losing team which is bringing them down. They're getting frustrated and the coach isnt helping. they need to have some freedom and the coach doesnt need to be so controlling. Alumbaugh wasnt that bad. Plus, last years team lost 3 of their 4 top pitchers (harris, robertson, and patton) and 2 of their hitters (robertson and young). i can remember last year when young would lead it off and then he would steal, grider would move him over, and little would get the rbi. they're not producing like last year.

Okay, one more time indy eagle, INDEPENDENCE IS NOT THAT GOOD! You have a couple of decent players and one quality pitcher, Brian Miller. Also, everyone in the district, besides hillsboro, has a better head coach. Frankly Bill Moore is a joke.
you wouldnt consider dylan toscano a quality pitcher? usually somebody thats gettin recruited by sec schools is decent but i dont know anything bout that??!
NOT THAT GOOD?!?! is that a joke? independence tanked on franklin last year and there is nothing stopping them from doing it this year. how can you say brian miller is the only quality pitcher when dylan toscano is getting recruited by ut, vandy, etc.? im going to go ahead and call that indy run rules franklin... mark my words, it will happen.
im just curious rebelnation, answer honestly, have you ever seen a baseball game? im not being a smart a, im just wondering. because if you have, you know that franklin is garbage. they couldnt hit the ball if it was going 10 mph.
Indy did not tank on Franklin last year. The Rebels won the first game 9-2 and lost the second 4-3..Franklin is not garbage either and i'm pretty sure they can hit. Last year they had some good bats with Young, Little and Robertson and this year they still have Little and Sistrunk. Trust me, Franklin can hit.
-
They also lost Michael Patton, who could of been the most consistent LHP in the district last year. Those are three big arms that ate up a lot of innings. Everyone in the district knows Falletta had arm problems at the end of the year, so that is a big question mark. And from talking with people from the Outlaws this summer, Bein was not impressive on the mound. You know who was impressive- Miller and Toscano. You know where they are from? Indy.
Who won the JV tourney last year? Indy so we got the best talent coming up as well.
agreed. patton was the most consistent LHP pitcher last year but there is no doubt indy is the best team in the district this year and i am a rebel fan. they have it all...All Franklin has is Little. The Rebels lost too much last year with Robertson, Harris, Patton, and Young. 3 of Franklin's top pitchers and Young with his stolen bases and bat. I really like Indy's pitching this year.

Franklin's season comes to an end the other night against McGavock. I saw this one coming because the Rebels were down this year. Hopefully next year will be better. Good luck to the remaining teams, but you won't hang with any Memphis team in state.
-
wasn't surprised Franklin got beat. good win to Ravenwood. The region tourney is starting and if Hillsboro doesn't have McMillan then count them out. I still havent been impressed with Franklin either.
McMillan is back, he was on a 2 game suspension for ejection.
Franklin will never impress you.
Franklin impressed me when they beat Overton and their comeback win @ Lavergne. The Siegal win didn't impress me because the stars were without their best player (Hammonds). And I have been impressed with Franklin over the past 5 years (from derek, dante, and tony: Glover and Batt: and Young, Henry, Starnes, Kegarise, Miller-McLemore). However, this Rebels team this year is different as well as the whole district. There are no big men besides McMillan and none of these teams would be able to hang with any top Memphis team (White Station, Ridgeway, Melrose, Memphis Central). That is my reason why I haven't been impressed, but I hope the Rebels can prove me wrong.

I know you guys are all over this 11AAA predictions, but I gotta give you heads up. None of the teams in this district can compete with any team in West Tennessee (Memphis). So you can say this school is street ball, this team has lack of coaching, this coach can't come up with a good lineup. It doesnt matter really because neither of them will come close in beating a Memphis Team. The state will be locked again this year, a Memphis Team will Win State again. The AAA teams in Memphis are too strong, luckly they only have 2 teams that goes to state because the top five teams all can win state.
i completely agree. Parkrose is exactly right. I'm putting my money on White Station, Ridgeway, or Melrose to win state
-
haha yes your right. correction ihs* in the finals vs bhs
should be a very interesting district tournament thats for sure. I dont ever remember a year in this district with almost every single game being played was always so close
thats because this district is way down.

Hahaha hwo does that taste Rebels? Get use to it, it is going to start being the routine not the exception with IHS winning in every sport against the Rebels. It's time for Johnson to move on the well is dry at Franklin. It is overflowing with athletes at IHS and other schools. I hate that the Rebels already have the # 2 seed locked up or they wouldn't be going to Region this year.
good win by indy...that now makes them 1-15 all time against Franklin. you're an idiot indyeagle.
But i will say no team is that good in this district, even hillsboro. Hillsboro is good when they try, but other than that, this district is way down. No team in this district could hang with Melrose, White Station, or Ridgeway and those are the type of teams that will be in the state tournament.

The Franklin vs. Brentwood game turned out to be a good one this Friday night ending on a buzzer beater by Nelson. The Rebels ended up winning by three, 53-50, with McLemore leading the way with 15 points. Tidwell for the Bruins had a solid game netting 20. However, I still believe this district won't go far in tournament play.

Franklin-48
Independence-43
Final.
Franklin is definitely the better team, but I still think the Rebels have some stuff they need to prove. But the better game tonight was Brentwood beating Hillsboro. Where did this come from? Mcmillan still had 29 but i dont see how the Bruins did this tonight. And the Ravenwood vs Centennial game wold have been a good one to see going into double overtime with centennial finally getting the victory.
-
Franklin loses again to Lavergne 41-33. They drop to 13-7. all i can say is wow! They've got Cane Ridge tonight.
-
Boo Hoo!!! Look at the Franklin fans crying when someone finally dethrones you. Maybe the coach wanted his players to get in Franklin's head. It seemed to work. Now off to what this thread should be talking about is the classic game Centennial and Indy played Friday night with my Eagles coming out on top. Indy and Hillsboro are proving to be the top 2 teams and I would venture to say Centennial will beat Franklin the next time they play.
I don't think Franklin is great this year either, but Indy is definitely not good. Seen them play multiple times (oakland, siegal, overton, and beech) and was definitely not impressed. This district is down from years past and its disappointing.
-
Hillsboro-43
Franklin-42
This was a very good game but again Franklin didnt have an answer to stop the Mcmillian kid. Franklin has lost 6 of their last 10.
-
Hillsboro @ Franklin tomorrow night. This should be a great rematch and I think it will be a close one as long as Franklin hits their shots. But the question I have is who is gonna stop the Mcmillian kid? My prediction:
Franklin-55
Hillsboro-61
-
Indy loses a heartbreaker to Hillsboro. I would venture to say these are the top 2 teams in the district and will be playing in late February for the title.
saw indy play siegal and oakland...wasn't impressed, but i'm not that impressed with franklin that much either. I do agree with u about Hillsboro.
-
Franklin vs Ravenwood tonight. I think Franklin wins this pretty easy. My prediction:
Franklin-72
Ravenwood-59
Im just waiting for Friday night in a rematch with hillsboro.
-
Unfortunately I was not able to make the game last night but I heard some good things and the box score showed me some positive signs. Mathews and McLemore had good games. I give Franklin credit because this was a big win, but I still believe when Franklin plays a team with a dominant big man that they will struggle. Ravenwood and Hillsboro this week. I can't wait for the rematch of that Hillsboro game.

Coach Johnson is a very good good coach and parents definitely do not need to be complaining about their kids playing time. There is nothing you can do about it. Johnson is the coach. However, I feel like the assistant coaches do more of the subbing than Johnson but thats besides the point. One reason though that Johnson has been successful over his coaching tenure is the fact that he's had some great talent starting with derrick anderson, dante brown, antonio murray to derrick batt and ryan glover all the way to michael young and peyton henry. This year the talent level is somewhat down (besides mathews and mclemore) and its the players who play the game, not the coach. I do think the lack of a big man hurts the Rebels and the fact that i've noticed sometimes a kid will hit 2 or 3 shots and start to get in rhythm with the game, but he comes right out for some reason. I just don't understand it. Anyways, Franklin vs. Brentwood tomorrow night. My prediction:
Franklin: 67
Brentwood: 59

Franklin loses again tonight against Mcgavock. The Rebels are 2-5 over the last 7 and if you don't think they're needs to be a change, then I do not know what is wrong with you. I don't understand how Franklin started out so hot and now they are really struggling. I'd go back with the lineup that led the Rebels to a 9-0 start, but I'm not the coach. Next up is @ Brentwood on Friday.
-
Yipee, I'm out of school again today! and thanks for your concern about my sleeping habits but I'm more concerned about the team. People at school keep asking the same question; why did they change things up? The team was 9-0 and came out of nowhere to #5 in the midstate before the change in philosophy. Can anybody answer this question? Shout out for a 4 day weekend!
I don't think anybody can answer your question and I don't understand it either. Why would you change a lineup that was winning. My five starters would be:
G- McLemore
G- Pace
G- Llittle
F- Nelson
F- Mathews
But it really doesn't matter what I say because I am not the coach, but I do think something needs to be changed so the Rebels can get back to their winning ways. Can't wait to see how Franklin does tonight at Centennial.
Again, they didn't change the lineup, just the starters, and that was because Little (and it is Little, not Llittle) was sick and wasn't even there for those 2 games. That is why the line up was initially changed. Get the facts right dude As usual, you say crap without even know what the heck is going on.
You said that I say crap without even knowing what is going on, but the only thing I know that is going on is Franklin is not playing well at all right now. I'd say inexperience and lack of intensity is whats causing their problem. And phillyfan, i know its not who starts, but I just think the Rebels need to start their five best players. The whole point of basketball is to have the five best players on the court at the same time to win. I didn't see that once in the Hillsboro game, even in the 4th quarter.

Heard Bristol is injured.
Go figure.....Bristow hurt, CHS best player, a trace of snow=sounds fishy to me. So, the varsity can't play their game, but the freshman game is still on. What a joke Centennial, typical for CHS.
Its Bristol, not "Bristow" Phillyfan

Just curious what your reasons would be for starting Little over Kibler?
I would start Little over Kibler because I haven't seen Kibler shoot that well and that is his main role. I've seen Franklin play Hillsboro and Centennial and in the Hillsboro game the Kibler kid was off. He was about 2-15. I just think they're needs to be some changes. Franklin is 2-4 over their last six games. Honestly, McLemore and Mathews are the scorers on the team and sometimes Nelson, and they are the ones who need the ball.

but that coach last year was better than these coaches this year. he knew baseball but grew up in a different place and not in the bubble of williamson county. he liked the players who were tough and not soft, which seems to me like there are a lot of players this year on the Rebels who are afraid to get dirty. im not saying all, just some of them. and he was the pitching coach under alumbaugh for 3 years and alumbaugh was a discipline machine to those young men. don't diss the previous coaches. calling him immature on coacht when you cant be a man and say that to his face is being way more immature. anyways, good luck to all the teams in this district.
