1. QUOTE(Acelineman @ Feb 23 2007 - 02:41 PM) 826386180I am A Ref and my problem is not the bad calls we all make them, But the Assoc. I work for is based on who you know to get games. I did everything I was supposed to went to all the meetings took the test and worked my butt off looking forward to getting a tournament game. But alas I was denied for again. Why because I was not given enough regular season games by our assigner. I spent at least 3 to 4 nights a week away from my family doing both middle and high school games. I was told that I needed to get the coaches to rate me so I could get more Games during the regular seasons. How am I suppose to do that when the only way to get to know the coaches is to be on the court. I am not perfect I miss calls nightly but the way these associations are run it hurts decent refs if you are not in the click with the refs who get alot of games. I was told to spend my summer working and getting to know the coaches to get my ratings up. I guess i am suppose to go mow theirs yards for them. please realize until the state makes it mandatory to break up the politics in the associations that it is very hard for a official who has a family and wants to spend time with them and not kissing up to whoever just to get games alot of refs who might do a better job will watch the tournaments from home

WOW! I didn't realize that it worked like that.

  2. I thought this would make everyone smile....

"Aint that a shame" - By: Cheap Trick

You made me cry when you said goodbye

    Ain't that a shame?

    My tears fell like rain

    Ain't that a shame?

    You're the one to blame

You broke my heart when you said we'll part

    Ain't that a shame?

    My tears fell like rain

    Ain't that a shame?

    You're the one to blame

    Farewell, goodbye, although I'll cry

    Ain't that a shame?

  3. QUOTE(bubblegum99 @ Feb 23 2007 - 01:39 PM) 826386079I'd say it wasn't too fun to watch if you were for Rickman. I've never enjoyed watching a team shoot well if I was for the other team.

I see where you are coming from, I would have much rather saw Rickman win but when it comes down to it, I am an even bigger fan of the sport itself and of the kids that play. I think that all people should be that way and that they should be proud of their opponents when they do will. (Especially since all these girls are going to play together some day.)

I'm big enough to say Allons played a great game, they deserved to win. We will get them next time.

  4. Allons made everything that they threw up last night. It was fun to watch. Rickman had a starter out, but with the way Allons was playing I doubt one player would have made a difference.

Seems pretty bad that those girls win the biggest game of their year so far and the parents act the way they do and run the coach off....

  5. Here is the 'rumor' that I heard this morning, so it is very possible that it is just that. A rumor.

I heard that a parent got mad at the Coach because his/her child didn't get selected to the All-Tournament team at one of the state tournaments that the girls go to, wasn't clear as to which one. After all of this it seemed like more got started and a select few of parents were yelling at the coach during a game. Like the post above says. So I assume it all started from there...? Selfishness or revenge maybe?

It doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Her style may be strange, but what I have seen from her she seems to do an above average job. Her teams seem to win quite often. She also has done a good thing for the county with her JR. Pro league that she has started up at the Allons School. Alot of students from several schools go to that. Will that still be on for next year? Because from what I heard that was her idea, so could she take that some where else?

If she moves, she will be taking her son with her probably. So, its not only the girls team that has been hurt in all this. I am glad that she is going to finish the year, its just too bad that she has to play Rickman again, she hasn't beat them all year, and I hope she doesn't do it now...haha

Best of luck to coach carr with whatever she decides to do.

  6. People please look!!!!

(UPDATE: From Sports By Brooks again, the Las Vegas police say they aren't yet ready to name anyone, let alone Pac-Man Jones, as a person of interest in the shooting. Do not jump to conclusions.)

    .....

It doesn't matter if he "did" it or not... Someone like him should NOT be with a crowd like this. Kids look up to him. Its funny every where he goes, trouble follows. Regardless if he is ever convicted of anything. Think about the kids, not the millionare who everyone feels bad for because he is getting a bad rep.

  7. QUOTE(coachh17 @ Feb 16 2007 - 02:46 PM) 826374806I will say that in my coaching career I saw very little change in individual players mental toughness from around 4th grade through their senior years. The "gamers" had it at 12 years old and never lost it. The others never had it and it never came. You could improve their skills, strength, and create a tradition and an expectation of winning, but the "soft" players generally stayed soft all the way through. They still made valuable contributions to the program, but the mentally tough athletes carry you to the big wins.

    Good post.

  8. QUOTE(dctigerfan07 @ Feb 20 2007 - 01:07 PM) 826381182Smith county easy

I am going to bring this post back up at about 10:00 pm tonight. haha. Just messing around with ya.

I dont think that it will be easy for either team. Both teams are going to have to play well. If Smith plays like they did against Upperman they will be tough to beat. LA knows that they need their "A" game, and I am sure they will bring it.

I think the game stays close through the 3rd quarter and the LA starts to pull away in the 4th. LA by 14.

  9. QUOTE(dctigerfan07 @ Feb 20 2007 - 08:55 AM) 826380733He's had three bad nights against DC...the team holding next year's mvp DeAndre Bass. This isnt a coincidence. Im not dissing LA on any way but i have yet to be impressed with either of the mvps from the girls or boys side. Stover is more of a problems for the boys and it seems that Ashley Matthews has trouble getting up and down the floor and was clearly outplayed by Holly Compton of Macon county and by most of the Upperman guards in general. Mallie Stephens is about the only mvp caliber player on the team. They are good...but this is just how i see it.

?? Mallie Stephens?? and I am an LA fan...
