  1. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Jackson Co. beat Station Camp earlier in the year ?? So that tells me that J-Co. is a very capable team and our boys don't need to overlook anyone !! Not that they will but don't you know that the Blue Devils would like nothing more than to get out of here with a win. I think it could be close for a while but we should win going away if we stayed focused.

I agree. After the success that LA has had in recent years, they will have a big target on their backs regardless of who they are playing. Especially since the AP polls came out. Every team will won't to be the team to upset this LA squad. Like you said, staying focused it key.

  2. Ok. You all have made me see the light. This team should have been able to finish this season 25-4. I wonder what in the world has happened to make this team underachieve the way they have. HEADS NEED TO ROLL!!!! Such a talented and athletic team like this shouldn't have 7 losses to teams that have a combined record of 68-28. How in the world this team lost by 4 to Shelbyville is beyond me. Disaster is looming. Thunder clouds are rolling in. What are we going to do about this chemistry problem we have? After all, if not for our "chemistry" problem we would probably be undefeated.

Well IMO the solution starts with positive thinking and comments. I set in the middle of the LA fans at the Cookeville game at the Mid south classic and I was amazed. Cookeville jump out to an early lead and the grumbling started in the 1st quarter. I was cheering louder and harder for the LA girls than most of their fans. They all looked at me like I was crazy. LA has always had some of the most dedicated fans and I couldn't believe they were losing faith in the 1st qtr. This is a great group of young ladies, with a great coach, school and fans. Keep it positive and good things will happen!!!!!!!!

I agree. Thats why I made my "comical" young comment. I didn't want to just come out and just say we aren't that good. But I guess now I will. I was mostly referring to how our two better players were sophmores (yeah I said 2).

When you have one of the weaker teams that you have had in sevearl years, your going to have one of the worse records that you have had in several years. Thats just how it goes. I just don't see a reason to try to find reasons or try to point the blame finger when the fact just might be we aren't that good....

**If any LA girls read this. Use it as motivation to get your rear in gear. Go on winning streak. Prove me wrong! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  4. Twist it however you want to do so, but it was not Station Camp's best game. I'm not banking on Station Camp ever beating Livingston Academy this season, but Station Camp did not play very well based on what I saw. Station Camp missed makeable shots, had numerous turnovers and didn't play very good defense. It's crazy to say when he scored 51 points, but I don't even believe that Jenkins played his best game. He forced more shots than normal and just was not as efficient as he has been in some earlier games. Johnson, Payne, Kohler, etc. had better step up their game if they hope to make a nice postseason run. They must be assertive and efficient on the offensive end, and Station Camp has to rebound much better than they did on Saturday. Livingston looked extremely balanced in the game's early stages, and they did a good job of trying to limit Jenkins' touches early on. Livingston needs to play better defensively as well though. They gave up 76 points to a Station Camp team that has one legitimate scorer. Station Camp had lots of shots that could have been converted, but many of those were missed by wide margins. A good and smart offensive team will take advantage of that at some point down the line. Best of luck to both teams.

    Ha... Ok. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  5. First --- I'm not on here with the intention of 'slamming' Coach Smith or any of the players on this team. I simply stated my feelings about where we are at this point in the season. I personally like the coach and believe she has many fine points, though obvisously, I'm not as enamored with her as you seem to be. My concern is the inconsistancy of play.(ie--at times some of the best defense that I've seen a team play--Other times --my grandmother could have brought the ball down the floor and scored an uncontested layup against them. At times we've been patient and worked the ball for a good shot--Then again we've tried to consistantly force the ball and turned it over . This is just not what I've seen out of 'veteran' teams in the past. Let's look at the facts: Everyone is back from a team which went 25-8 last season, with the exception of one starter ( who was subbed out often) who transferred out of our school system. At this point last year, the record was 14-2---This year 11-7---- Last year at this point, we had played two-A teams---eight AA teams and six AAA -----This year--two A teams--seven AA teams--five AAA teams--three teams from KY.(Don't know what class they were in, but at least one had eighth graders on their roster) and a good Division II team . Even though many of the teams are different teams from last year, they are very comparable strength wise . You stated in an earlier post that you wouldn't consider losing 7 of the next 11 games a failure. That would mean a 15-14 regular season record. IMO a 15-14 record is setting the bar far too low! I never mentioned 'failure'. I said 'disaster '. There is a huge difference . We might have a disasterous season , and still none of these young ladies would be failures. - There is nothing wrong with the 'talent' on this team and I believe they are far more atheletic than you give them credit.--------The so called 'chemistry' just doesn't seem to be there and I hope the solution can be found. I believe there is a very real possiblity of going beyond the Region if that happens. ------I sincerely hope that I haven't said anything that offended anyone (especially the young ladies on the team) with this and other posts but ,I buy my ticket to watch, I pay my taxes to help support the school system, therefore I'm intitled to MY opinion just like everyone else! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

    So...

    Like I asked before..

Which games did that "inconsistancy" & "lack of chemistry" cost the LA team? You didn't answer that question. You didn't tell me how you would fix it.??

You pay your taxes. Give your opinion. Tell the LA squad how to fix their problems. You just might turn their season around.

  6. The record for points scored on the men's side is 2250, held by Richard Melton. The school record is 2633, held by Sunday Watson. As for letting things go, why are you even in this debate? If you didn't have a sour taste in your mouth after we beat you and ya boy Caruthers up, you would be praising instead of hating.

    /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  7. You are such a loser. Do you know how much people like you are made fun of? You think you know it all and have all the answers. I bet you probably played a little - maybe in middle school. I bet you have coached some too - maybe some AAU or rec. league. Get a life and quit putting in writing what an idiot you really are.

    /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  8. So is it too early to start building hype for the LA vs. Upperman game? /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

The two remaining games with Upperman are going to be big time games. I have been hearing good things about this team. I was looking at their schedule and as of right now they are (12-5).

They have lost their 5 games by only a total of 30 points. Two of their losses come from out-of-state teams. One was by 6 to Station Camp. They beat a tough Red Bank team 78-65.

Upperman's schedule may not be as brutal as LA's schedule, but I am sure Upperman will be well prepared for LA when it comes time for these two teams to clash. The Bees would love nothing more than to knock LA off of that 7AA throne that they have been on for the last 3 years. Will this be the year?

Since the beginning of the 05-06 season, LA has won 7 out of 8 meetings between these two teams. Wouldn't be a good time for LA to overlook this hungry Upperman team.

  9. DANG BOY. HOW MANY GAMES HAVE YOU WATCHED? 3 ? IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME.

That game was the fourth one I have watched actually. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Nah, but on a serious note. I can tell why he would need a break the way LA runs.

He is a amazing player. We will see him on ESPN before we know it.

  10. I certainly mean no disrespect to the team nor the coach. But apparently, you and I have not been watching the same team. This team has shown they are very capable but are showing no consistency. I don't believe that I would call a team with----THREE SENIORS--a junior and a soph. starters a young team!

    You have lost me...

So you are implying that that this team should be more successful than it is at this point. In what way? Are you saying they should have won some games they didn't? Or are you saying they should have kept some games closer than they did? What has this team done so badly to be on the verge of "disaster"? How should they go about fixing it?

LA's schedule is very, very tough this year and to be honest this is not one of LA's most athletic teams. Therefore, you can't really expect them to have the same success of LA teams of the past. Especially against such a tough schedule. With teams like Upperman and Station Camp in their district/region, LA would have to get a little on the lucky side to get out of the region tournament. These girls have played hard this year and kept a few games very close that I didn't think they were capable of keeping close. Coach Smith has a way of keeping games close even when the other team is better. I guess I am not understanding where you are coming from...

  11. Not too bad for a young coach, who's only in his forth ( I believe that's correct) season coaching high school ball. It's pleasant to see a coach whose players will "leave it all on the court" for him. The RESPECT these players, and most knowledgeable fans, have for their coach has been well earned. This is a coach that a few foolish schoolboard members tried to fire , just last year. Ain't jealousy and small town politics refreshing? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Old news. This team is not looking back and neither should LA fans. You live. You learn. You move on.

Someone mention on the other thread that Chase Dunn only needed 85 points to go until he breaks the LA scoring record. Considering this kid's size and the tough competition that he has played against in his 4 years at LA, this is an amazing accomplishment. I have really enjoyed watching him play over the years. I know he is going to help this LA team finish this season with a bang! Glad he will only be a few minutes down the road next year.

Isn't the record that he is going to break currently held by Coach Melton?

Coach Melton is a great coach. He has great players and a great fan base. Him and his players have worked their butts off to get to the level they are at. However, no need to bring up silly and very, very old news. I am sure that everyone in the program could care less about silly things like that.

  13. What was LA's record going into state last year? And how did they finish?

They were 30-4 going into the state tournament last year.

They were beat badly by Fulton (92-55)

    *You made your point. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

Even more of a reason for LA so stay focused this time around.

  14. It's beginning to look more and more like LA's "chemistry " problem is much worse than at first seemed. Sure hope SOMETHING can be done before this season turns into a disaster. The talent is there. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

Livingston is (11-7). 3 of those losses came against AAA schools (Cookeville, Shelbyville, Clarskville NE). Then they lost last night to a VERY good Station Camp team. They have the 9th toughest schedule in AA. I highly doubt this season has any chance of turning into a disaster. Especially with such a great coach. Coach Smith always has her team ready when the post season rolls around.

Out of LA's remaining 11 games they could very well lose 7 of them and I still wouldn't consider it a failure. They have some tough games coming up (JC x2, Upperman x2, Smith Co. x2, York). This isn't one of the loaded LA teams of the past that everyone is use to. They are young. They will come around and they will get better.

  15. Just wanted to take a moment to recognize how hard this LA team is working. You have to love watching this team play. It doesn't matter who is on the floor, your sure to get 100% from every player. They get along very great and they all love to get their teammates involved.

They seem to have a lot of momentum as they are on a 8-game winning streak. They recently won the Alec Kessler Classic Tournament in Gulf Breeze, Florida. Then last night they beat a strong John Jenkins led Station Camp team. Their remaining schedule looks to be favorable, but they still have to play an aggressive Upperman team. Twice.

At this point in the season LA is (16-1).

Their only loss was by 2 points to a very strong Ensworth team who is (12-2).

LA is averaging 72 points a game and are out scoring their opponents 1226-902
