1. She does. My kids are "zoned for William Blount High School". We do live in the "city limits" of Maryville, but Maryville is still in Blount County which means our kids can attend either Maryville or the county school they are zoned for ... which is William Blount. Good try 23 hoops but I'm not quite that dumb. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> You thought you had me didn't you!

I certainly would have had no problem had either kid decided to attend Maryville, but seeing as how they spent kindergarten through the start of their 9th grade year in the county school system before we moved, they and we (parents) decided we would stay where we were.

No, I don't think that I "had you" and I certainly know that you are far from dumb. Quite the contrary! You may attend wherever you want. My bad!!!!

  2. #1- There's more to life than "won - loss" records ... I would suggest you send your daughter to school where she is "zoned" to go. If you have a choice, I'd use more than the girls basketball program in making my decision.

#2 - When is the last time Heritage did not have a "superstar" on their team?

#3 - Everyone is entitled to speculate and have opinions. As I've said earlier on this thread, this is a very young, very inexperienced team that is getting better. If you just look at the scores from the Mid-South Classic, you'll think ... they just got hammered again. But if you there, as I was, you would have seen some great "steps" for the team against some quality opponents.

#4 - I'm like an elephant (not just in physical appearance) ... I have a long memory. If some of you neysayers would like to identify yourselves, I'll remember who you are and remind you of this thread and your comments in another couple years. We've got the best group of freshmen in the county this year and we will again next year. Keep taking your shots people ... things are ok at WB.

Just curious GovMan, why doesn't your daughter attend school where she is "zoned" to go?

  3. QUOTE(MRFan4U @ Mar 21 2007 - 08:42 PM) 826419782Honestly some insiders were not shocked at all that this team won state. There were a few players ,that preseason even predicted they would win state. Many fans and players did not post on here for fear of tipping people off. Staying humble and getting no respect were key allies.

I think they knew they could win it all when they realized in the preseason they were able to play Oglesby(number 1 player in state) and Bradley Central( number 3 team in state) fairly even , and without the football players (Douglas, Maples and Hunt). I think they played off on being the underdogs all season. All losses were no big deal including the loss to Powell. In fact I think it helped in light of the fact they had fairly poor fan support ,to go on the road. To play in a loud hostile place like Science Hill and beat them was just the ticket this team needed to give them the confidence to go all the way. Getting no respect kept them humble. Even now many think it was some kind of fluke that they won state /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Then to get Bradley Central in the first round was just what they needed. Basketball is all about peaking at the right time and Maryville did. It helped being the underdogs all year with a little luck here and there. I don't think they will be able to play the underdog next year. It was good while it lasted. Hopefully the fans will get behind this coach and players next year and make the difference. Clarksville and Liberty fan support is the pattern of what we should be like next year.

One last point, there were many players on the bench that would have started elsewhere and that may have made a big difference. Case in point was Click and his game winning shot. Hats off to D Hunt and his great attitude and support of his teammates. He could have started on any other team and it had to be tough for him as the starting QB to sit the bench. Allen, Jolly , Pickle and all the rest were also solid contributers. Eldridge did a great job of being the glue that held this team together.....and at times it looked like they would unravel. He set the "cool" pattern and Clicks shot was the icing on the cake. It was really no surprise at all, in retrospect, to "them".

Very well put. You summed everything up perfectly!!

  4. QUOTE(GCPioneer @ Mar 20 2007 - 09:29 PM) 826418912Lol...I bet all the East TN people are going to ignore this topic....they know who is going to OWN this game!!!! This will obviously show where the talent is at in the state!!! West by 20+!!

It seems to be impossible for most of you from the western part of the state to let East Tn teams enjoy their glory. There are many talented players over the entire state of Tennessee GCPioneer. The West doesn't have a lock on talent. Good sportsmanship sure is hard to come by these days, particularly on CoachT and it is a shame.

  5. QUOTE(UPSGregg @ Mar 18 2007 - 01:58 PM) 826416373I wouldn't be upset or dissapointed in the slightest way if I were an Oakland fan. The Oakland CHS game was the true championship in my eyes. Maryville should be treating Oakland to a steak dinner for wearing CHS down the night before. Man I wish there was a day between each game.

UPSGregg, what a ridiculous comment!! You lost. Get over it!!!!!

  6. QUOTE(PowellFan @ Mar 18 2007 - 12:05 AM) 826415972I just love that fact, that Maryville and East TN guys arent on here saying how bad they are gonna win and show up. But yet A east tn team and one that deffinatly deserves it brings it back to the East.

If you read what I said earlier, Maples and Douglas can handle the pressure and The tired legs did get to Clarksville.

PowellFan, you are one of the classiest on here. Where is MaxusHRking, CobraFan90, etc., etc., now? In hiding? All the Science Hill, Bradley Central, Whites Creek, and Clarksville fans who talked so much smack, aren't you a little embarassed? I am embarrassed for you. The Maryville basketball team and coaches are a class act as are MOST of the fans. I am so proud of our team for never giving up when very few thought we would EVER get to state, much less win it. WAY TO GO REBELS!!!!!!!

  7. QUOTE(PowellFan @ Mar 16 2007 - 10:46 PM) 826414857I want Maryville to win it now, anyone from East TN, cause everyone says how much better the west is than our teams are yet we always seem to be there

Thank you PowellFan. I would certainly be pulling for Powell if you all had been the ones continuing on. The arrogance of some of these other fans on CoachT from other parts of the state is mindboggling and embarassing.

  8. QUOTE(cobrafan90 @ Mar 15 2007 - 09:37 PM) 826413533Creek by 12.

You had a good season Maryville. Welcome to Middle TN basketball.

Tyler Maples meet Jamie Graham. Graham will be covering maples in the SEC.

Thank you cobrafan90 for the warm welcome to middle TN basketball. We Rebels enjoyed playing you all very much. Tyler Maples also enjoyed meeting Jamie Graham as you said he would. You have been very kind.

  9. QUOTE(DBGRAD70 @ Mar 5 2007 - 11:01 PM) 82640145123hoops, if you had taken time to read my previous posts perhaps you wouldn't have made your comments.

    From previous posts......

The fact is that no east Tennessee team will win state. There is not one good enough. I didn't think Science Hill, DB, or your school are capable of winning state. The teams in the west are just too big and play a totally different version of basketball. Think of them as college teams on a high school level. Well, you'll see soon enough.

DB fought a close one and lost with dignity. Powell may not be so lucky when they play the west. Nothing against Powell. You have a good team. Just, IMO, not good enough. That's what I'm talking about.

If you want to appologize, ....

Apologize FOR WHAT??? ANY team is capable of winning on any given day. Maryville was not given a chance of beating Science Hill, but look what happened. They may not advance any further. No one knows. Not you and not me. Stranger things have happened though. If they lose, they lose, but life, as I know it, will go on!

  10. QUOTE(MaxusHRKing @ Mar 5 2007 - 02:55 PM) 82640066792% pick SH to beat Maryville on Coacht. Maryville save yourself a trip and don't come. You will be sorry for the thrashing they give you. Too fast , too big and too much Omar.

Powell 70% pick over Dobbins is a joke. Dobbins will win easily.

You are such a riot, Maxus. Don't make the trip Maryville. You are so funny!!! I have learned over the years that comments like that usually come back to bite you in the ---REAR END!!!! GO REBELS!! Oh, and by the way Omar Who??

  11. [quote name='BosemanWBFan' date='Feb 27 2007 - 10:51 PM' post='826392451'

BosemanWBFan, I am glad that you realize we are not discussing football. Chip on your shoulder regarding football however, for some reason? I think I know what that chip is as do all the other Rebels. Anyway, I get a kick out of reading your posts. You're very transparent.

  12. QUOTE(ihavenofriendzz @ Feb 24 2007 - 09:14 PM) 826387664im not saying id be glad if they were. id hate it because we would lose. but i just dont see why tehy arent 5A. If you have more students than 5A schools. you should be 5A. thats just how it works.. or should work...

I did a little checking on greatschools.net for 5A enrollment. All of these schools are larger than Maryville. Bearden - 2,009. Dobyns Bennett - 1,877. Science Hill - 2.095. Karns - 1,735. Sevier Co. - 1,672. William Blount - 1,798. Heritage 1,590. Farragut - 2,338. Maryville - 1,377. Where did you get your information that Maryville was as big or bigger than the above mentioned schools?

  13. QUOTE(quietmouse @ Feb 24 2007 - 08:14 PM) 826387581Well I cant prove this because I am not part of the "click" nor do I want to be, but from what I understand there are plenty of applicants even ones with masters degrees standing in line for a teaching position in carter county. Yeah and your are exactly right - they have 3 years to become certified so why do we have teachers that have taught for at least 6 yrs and still arent certified???? Explain that to me, teacher?

    "click" is spelled clique.

  14. Farragut should win this one easily. If Farragut's coach works the refs the way he ususally does it will be no contest. You can guarentee Maryville will be in foul trouble all night. Since their big shot man Lambert is out it will make it extra hard . Maryvilles one hope may to play those two big guys at the same time Reynolds and Douglas or else Farragut will dominate the boards and win easily. Look for Farragut to play zone and stop all penetration. Predict Farragut by 20

You need to be very careful when you say things like this. It usually comes back to bite you in the REAR END! GO REBELS!!!!
