1. As I mentioned before it will not be Michael Morrell. Just heard from one of his friends at EHS who is a football coach there, that he has accepted an Assistant Coaching position at Charleston yesterday. Obviously whatever Morrell's interest was in Mtown West or Volunteer it was only due to the fact the thought he might not have a job. Supposedly Morrell will be their lead recruiter there and it is a great step for him according to this guy. He had been told by Clemson he wouldn't be kept on there and declined to take a spot with Purnell at DePaul. So now what does Volunteer do, that should narrow the candidates down that have been thrown around on this thread.

  2. I could be wrong Rallypoint, I just find it very hard to believe that Morrell would turn down a Division 1 assistant coaching position to come back and take over Volunteer HS. But we all know how rumors are, if he is interested Volunteer should scoop him up in a heart beat. From what I hear from people surrounding him, I fully expect to see him on the college sidelines somewhere next season.

  3. I can assure you that Michael Morrell isn't interested in the Volunteer job. I know someone that spoke to a family member of his in Elizabethton. He was semi-interested in the Morristown West job according to him, but had no interest in the Etown or Volunteer jobs. Maybe he was at Volunteer last week to see Scott Rider, he is very close with Jason and Shawn. From what she told this guy, Morrell has numerous college opportunities and was offered a different spot at DePaul but chose not to follow. Time will tell I suppose.

  4. Wow, to me there are a couple of good candidates there. I would think John English would never leave Unicoi due to the success he has had there. Dont really know CHuck Babb. Tony Gordon might be a candidate, but he was just let go and that might be a tough sell. Michael Morrell?? Would he leave a college job to take Etown?

  5. I keep hearing there are some candidates that are now making a case because they believed Dugger would be handed the job. It seems as if the AD and Principal are keeping this search close to the chest and not letting those names get out. Could be wrong, but that is what Ive heard in the last couple of days.

  6. QUOTE(whirlwind @ Apr 4 2007 - 01:31 PM) 826429870Betsy dont need no resignation, they'll get rid of the dead wood just like they did ole TH. They need to bring Michael Morrell back, he's learned alot under "The REAL COACH" Tony Wallingford.

Michael Morrell is at King College and learning under a pretty good coach himself...George Pitts. Word around Etown is that Morrell is interested, but it has not came open yet. Young coach who has learned stuff from the best high school coach around...but who knows if he is really interested.

  7. OK, who are the "some so-called" from EHS that were in attendance?

It could be explained if I knew who the so-called where!

Tony Gordon is a very good coach but remember, Mike Wilson is still the coach until he resigns or is forced out.

My comments about Len Dugger came as a result of SPECULATION that Wilson will not return,as many believe!

According to my friends that were at the game last night, Eliz gave them all they wanted and more until final 2 minutes of 1st half. Then they allowed the soph guard to drive for easy layups, and if that wasnt enough, he killed them with 3 pointers.

I couldnt believe that Carter and Thomas doubled Weaver well enough to hold him to 2 or 4 points in the 1st half,WOW!

I understand Ike was really frustrated. He proved it in the 2nd half as he controlled the paint. I wish I could have been there, it sounded like a fun game to watch!

Hey EHSFAITHFUL, did you make it to the game? Cal said you used to deer hunt with him, hes too lazy for that now!

Are you still in business for yourself?

Let me throw a name out at you guys...You speak so highly of George Pitts, but I would say that many of you do not know that his assistant Michael Morrell is an Elizabethton High grad. and played at Milligan College for Tony Wallingford. I have heard that he wants to stay at the college level, but he might be interested in coming back home if the job came open. I don't know but anyone who has worked for Pitts and I think that have had a great year at King, should be a great catch for a high school looking for a good coach. Again, a young coach might be what E-Town needs.

  8. QUOTE(topper06 @ Feb 22 2007 - 11:27 AM) 826384392sounds like your board people in carter co have a great deal in common with the bozos in coffee co.....................

What I would like to know is what college head or assistant coach would be interested in the Elizabethton job? Here is the deal once again...I don't care what anyone in Elizabethton says or how much "inside information" they have. Len Dugger will not be the head coach, he had his chance and it is over...futhermore Wilson has not even stepped down and they are still playing and you guys act like he isn't even there. I have to say though I am not surprised, the fans is Elizabethton have always thought they were smarter than the coaches...that is why there really are not good in anything anymore. Just average at everything.
