  1. Rachel Bell is the best girls high school basketball player I have ever seen. I have not seen the other girls that are mentioned in this thread. I have seen a lot of girls basketball. When I was in high school the girls played 6 on 6. That should give some insight to my age. 1 game this year at Columbia, Rachel had her teams first 17 points, she finished that game with 33 and Creek Wood defeated Columbia 52-47. Against Sycamore this year Rachel had 30 of her teams first 32 points and the game went into overtime tied at 37. In another game at Camden this year, a Camden player had 16 points at the half and it was a 2 point game at the half. Creek Wood went man to man in the second half and Rachel held that player to 0 points in the second half. Just to mention a few things I have seen that I will remember for a long time. She plays much like Koby Bryant. Very athletic and very aware of the game situation. She can bring the ball down court, she can post up, she can shoot the 3, she can take the ball to the basket, she is a great passer, she can play lockdown defense. I have seen her shoot a fade away 3 after a crossover dribble and a stepback. She does a very good job keeping her teamates involved. She makes very difficult plays look easy. She was a finalist last year and she has had many D1 schools come to see her play. She scored her 1000th point early in the season and she is a Junior. Good luck to all of the players mentioned.

  2. A good point was made that a lot of these seniors will be playing there last high school games. I want to personally call out a Creek Wood player that is a class act. He is one of the best players in the district and truly one of the finest young men I have ever known. With all of the negativity, I would like to give credit to some players that we have watched for years and now they are nearing the end of time in this district. Michael Morgan is a perfect example of what a high school athlete should be. I have watched him play above the rim and be able to jump with anyone. We will miss all of the seniors. I just wanted to mention Michael Morgan because I have admired him for awhile and I think he deserves all the credit for the way he has played and the way he has caried himself. Good luck as you wind down your regular season and go into the tournament.

  3. Thanks to the ones that posted about the Sportamnaship displayed at the Harpeth / Waverly game. When I look back on these times and district 11 AA those are the things I will remember and they happen often.

  4. I cannot give any input on which is the best because I have only seen Rachel Bell. The best way to describe her is she plays like a boy. She does things that High School girls are not supposed to be able to do. Every team that plays Creek Wood game plans around her and she is still a difference maker in every game. Only a sophomore btw. She has all tools physically, mentally and her heart is basketball. She is good for the game of basketball. Good luck to all finalists. If saying plays like a boy is offensive please understand that when I was in high school girls played 6 on 6. And you either played offense or defensive. The girls game as a whole has come along way.

  5. I see all the home teams winning in the first round. After that it will probably be Spring Hill and Harpeth. I think S.H. is definitely the class of the region and I see Fairview as the weakest. After that I dont think there is a whole lot of seperation among the other 6 teams. You dont have to be the better team in the tournament to advance, you just have to score more points in that one game.Every year there are some big upsets and that makes this is a fun time of year. I just hate that Creek Wood is not still playing, but they will be back next year. I also think Giles and Camden could be the most exciting 1st round game. Both teams can score in bunches.Good luck 11 AA.

  6. Camden 82

    Creek Wood 56

    FINAL

Culp had 29 for Camden in the win. Camden and Cheatham Tomorrow Night

Creek Wood had a good season and the 4 seniors will be missed. They have represented there school and families in a positive way. Creek Woods season did not end the way they had hoped, but they did play some very good ball at times this year. They were better at the end of the season than what most people expected and lsst nights game definitely did not show that. All credit goes to Camden. Good luck to you guys. Creek Wood will be back next year. They return 3 starters. In alot of games they were the 3 top scorers. Good luck to everyone left in the tournament. Go out and represent district 11 AA well in the region.

    Addition Information Regarding iHigh

I'd like to point out that Cheatham County was very accepting of Creek Wood's wanting to set up an iHigh webcast of the games this evening. The Red Hawks broadcast team set up on the balcony opposite of where the Cubs radio broadcast was located. Cubs boys assistant basketball coach (Coach Stuart) was very helpful in the process of making sure that the Creek Wood broadcast was a success!

I do not know what has happened at Cheatham with filming in the past but I do Know that tonight Cheatham was very helpful. A situation arose where we need some IT assistance and one of the coaches from Cheatham went above and beyond. It has been confusing on where to film from in the past but not tonight so maybe there will be no more trouble this year. Again thanks for your kind help tonight.

  8. I think Spring Hill threw a sophmore against you, so i'm not really sure about the whole 4 runs vs 2 runs. Is it apples to apple. Perhaps lipscomb is the better team. Looking forward to watching everyone play! Good Luck!

Spring Hill has the best pitching in the tourney and they will win it all. They have 1-4 that could all be legit 1's at alot of schools. there # 3 threw a no hitter against Page. You cannot base a teams ability on a 1 game series. especially if it is not a win or go home game.

  9. Well our season has come to a close, it was an emotional ending for the Seniors who have played their last game. I enjoyed watching our team this season, we were "the good, the bad and the ugly" all in one season. It is disapointing to exit so early but we were beat by two teams who hit the ball better than we did on this occasion. As far as the field goes, we certainly didn't take advantage of the short porch, with power up and down the line up we never threatened to homer.

I don't think Creekwood getting the tourney every year is a viable solution, there is too much advantage to hosting. I think the winner should host, and if we don't want to play on Camden's field we better win. I would like to thank all of the people at Camden who were so welcoming, we were made to feel right at home by their coaching staff and parent volunteers from the moment we stepped off the bus. The hospitality tent was nice and those home-made cookies were off the chart good. Good luck to the teams still in it, I hope the District will go far at the next level whoever wins the tourney. Best of luck to all!

Well said. I wish the Harpeth seniors the best. Your last High School game is emotional, even if you are going to play at the next level. Harpeth played a brutal schedule this year and they won a lot of big games. There players, coaches and fans should be proud.

  10. All good points, I too would like to see the tournament at Creek Wood. There is no one that can not agree that it is the best park in the district, but how would that be fair? Maybe there is a way to figure it out. Memories are being created that we will remember for a long time. I have enjoyed going to Camden the last few nights and the hospitality is appreciated. There have been a ton of Home runs, an illegal bat issue, a strike out on a pitch thrown behind the batter etc, As long as Creek Wood makes it to the region I do not have a problem with playing at Camden, but if they lose today I am sure it will be because of the fence. JK. Good luck to the teams left. MC is hitting the ball as well as anyone right now. MC vs. CW today should be an instant classic. The winner gets to keep playing and the loser is done.

  11. We are very excited to be hosting at Camden this week. We cannot remember when (or if) the last time that Camden Baseball won the district and we are going to do our best to try to make everybody feel as welcome as possible. If there is anything that is needed or you would like to talk I usually end up down the third baseline taking videos and pictures. Hope you have a safe trip down.

What is the address for the park please?

  12. Harpeth beats Cheatham 10-0 in 5.

    WP Devin Presley

Creek Wood defeats Waverly 4-3. WYATT DUCHANE Gets 2 out 2 strike single in bottom of 7th to knock in winning run. Michael Purcell is the type of student athlete that doesn't come along every day. I have watched him play since he was in the 7th grade, and he has grown into a great ball player and a better person. I wish him and his family all the best. Jackson State is a fortunate program to have him heading there way. Congrats to Creek Wood. That was a huge win, and a complete team effort. Sean Hines has 3 sacs, including a Squeeze that gave CW a 2-1 lead.

  13. Creek Wood swept Montgomery Central 3-0 and 14-8. 2 totally different games. The first game both pitchers went the distance. In the second game probably 6 different pitchers. In Creek Wood 3-0 win Cody Nicholson went the distance for the shut out win. If any of yall know what Cody went thru a few years ago you can really appreciate how special this was. Spent almost a year in and out of Vanderbilt hospital undergoing operations and procedures. There was some talk of losing a leg to save a life. What this kid has been thru is incredible. GREAT to see him pitching at a high level. Montgomery Central and Creek Wood had good crowds and great baseball atmosphere. Montgomery Central is well coached and they were fighting to the end in both games. They led 7-2 after 5 innings in game 2 before Creek Wood exploded for 12 runs in the final two innings. Good luck to M.C.

  14. they don't have to come scout because they can get every game off i high.i do not believe they used as many snow days as st.co. and camden.scouting is overrated anyway.

They will probably come to watch some of the tournament live and it is not a definite that the tournament will be on ihigh. We can go watch them play on Staurday at Hickman County. However KS makes a good point. I would like to see us get done sooner. It seems that would be better.

  15. WOW it has been almost 48 hours without snow falling. Shaping up for good weather next week if it will dry out some. We scrimmage Mt. Juliet Sat 2/19 at the Wood. Anyone else playing next week? It is about the pitchin KS. Solid choices for top 2 returning arms in 11AA. We dont even know who our 1 thru 8 are. Gonna be interesting and FUN!! With practice starting Monday it will be a great Valentine's day.!!

Is Valentines day in honor of Bobby Valentine?

  16. Not sure of district standings can anyone help me. I know Creek Wood is 6-16 5-6 in 11AA. Lost a thriller in Camden last night 58-57. CW has a Mon.2/7 at fairview, 2/10 vs. Northwest for SR. Night and 2/11 vs. Harpeth(hoops homecoming) to conclude regular season. Of course all that depends on Mother Nature! Camden folks said they had 4 district games to play next week. Holy Cow it will be an interesting District Meeting if weather doesn't cooperate. Could fans coaches anyone post overall and district records with games remaining. Should be an awesome district tourney! C ya at the Yard! ROP!!!

1 and 2 is between Waverly and Harpeth. 3-6 is wide open.

District record and remaining district games for the 3-6 teams:

Creek Wood 5-6 Friday home vs. Harpeth

Montgomery Central 4-6 Tues. H. vs Stewart Fri. at Cheatham

Stewart 4-6 Tues. at Central Fri. H. vs Camden

Camden 4-5 Tues. at Harpeth Th. at Cheatham Fri. at Stewart

CW started the district 1-5 and then went 4-1

MC started the season battling for the top spot but has lost a couple of key players

Stewart has played most of there games without one of there main guys and I believe he is back

Camden is a very tough home team, but they have 3 road games left.

WIDE OPEN....Cheatham is much improved even though there record does not show it. They play everyone close.

Harpeth looked to be the favorite in the first half of the season, but Waverly looks to be the team to beat right now. The district is not as strong as the other teams in our region. There is NO doubt about that, but there is alot at stake the last of the season. This could be one of the best district tournaments around. There are no clear favorites. Anyone could still win the district tournament. seeding is very important.

  17. Like it or not, the refs are the authority in the game. This is the statement that is so sad because you have alot of REFS that dwell on being in charge and thats half of the problem. I know every case is different, I can only speak of the ones that I see but when the team is out there hustling and trying to play the game and the SO CALLED AUTHORITY FIGURE can control the whole outcome of the game then thats where the problem starts!

This is a good point. I have watched a lot of games from a completely neutral position, and I have seen refs turn on an athlete that was disrespectful. So many of the calls can go either way and if an athlete disrespects the ref he is not going to get a close call. The more veteran refs are better at keeping emotions out and just calling the game, but I have seen it happen to them as well. The best advice I have heard is teach the athlete to be respectful and you will not have to worry about it. If a ref misses a call he usually knows it. If you do not show him up usually the next close call goes your way. Not always.

  20. They all went home with there Tail Feathers tucked, cause they couldn't beat us with eight people on the floor.

Perry County adult goes into the Creek Wood student section and has to be removed by law enforcement. That is the only person that should be ashamed today. Good clean game by classy student athletes on both sides. No excuses Perry Co. won. Congrats to them. Perry Co. attempted 37 free throws and you are complaining about the officials?

  21. Are creekwood games on radio? If they are, what freq? I know this game will be broadcast on the internet at atwsportscast.com, but I'll be on the road to an LMS game at centerville.

Creek Wood games can be seen and heard live and archived at www.creekwood.ihigh.com

  22. Any update on teams playing at Harpeth this weekend? Would love to see a schedule if anyone knows.

Harpeth had a great playday. There were some incredible games and a lot of tremendous players. Most games were very competitive. You can see some of the action at www.harpeth.ihigh.com
