  1. Here we go!!! Got CSing nibbler! A regular GP head coach supporter.... Good luck to yA Friday night because We are going to give him what he deserves!! ANOTHER monumental buttkicking for his LAST game as a coach! Maybe it Will even bring about ANOTHER modification to the mercy rule!! What a legacy!! LOL!!! :o:)))))

This should have been in response to this post. No actually a Maryville fan (with respectable friends that went to GP). Really want to talk wins and loses ALCOAgoon (with an emphasis on goon)? There I fixed it for you AlcoaBasketball. Guess I had a brain spasm or just wanted to see what it felt like to be an Alcoa grad. lol.

  2. Really good? I assume your talking about the midget that ignores county and state rules and the varsity coach that turned in  jv wins as varsity wins just so his win-loss record looked better. Think you need to worry more about your bears and a date with Maryville.

  3. He had 2 really good baseball coaches there and ran them off. There's been attempts to start a wrestling program over the years and he always blocks it. Maybe he'll let someone start it now to have his team ready for post game handshake. He is untouchable, but I don't understand why. He's had plenty of "underperforming " teams over the years

  4. Obviously, SOME of you do not understand my rationale. I do not know anything about GP and the situation that has transpired. I do not know Coach P. All I know is the current system continues to be heavily flawed. Losing 2 games in a row at tournament time should not even warrant a move to the next tournament. If you agree that it should, then I would like to hear your reasoning. Whenver there is a dominant team in a District like Fulton...(and all you guys can get on here and try to play up Carter and AE all you want, but FULTON IS THE OBVIOUS TEAM TO BEAT in the whole region) it is beneficial to lose the consolation game, and that is what occurred.

I know I said I would only post once but this warrants a comment. Obviously, you didn't understand me. You don't know the coach or anything about the situation (by your own admission). So let me be a little more direct. Find something else to do besides slam Coach P and GP. (In other words, shut up!) If you want to start a thread about the system being flawed or Fulton is the obvious choice, blah, blah, blah. Fine but don't use it as your outlet to bash the GP Coach or team. I would think one as a former coach wouldn't use an outlet as such to bash another coach or program(GP,Carter,AE) but you do say in another thread that you coached at WB (enough said).

  5. I will say this once and only once. Most on coacht have no idea what happened in the GP situation nor should they (This is not the place to air your dirty laundry.). As far as throwing the game to avoid Fulton, what would one gain. You still have Carter and AE from that district. GP has to beat Alcoa before they can think about anyone else and then there is a good chance they will face Carter again. So pick your poison. If you had watched GP's last several games one would see that in the words of MMcCroskey "a lot of the boys were focused on other things than basketball lately". It was time after the Carter loss if they had any chance of winning another game the coach had to do something. Did he make the right move? I don't know. Did he make the wrong move. I don't know? At least he did something. Yes, all but 2 of the varsity were suspended. 1 a freshman who has gotten a little playing time lately and 1 a Senior Captain who has been a sometimes starter over the last 3 years and when not is usually one of the first off the bench (Don't forget it certainly wasn't an easy task for the 2 to play AE without their varsity teammates. I for one wouldn't have wanted to be in their shoes. Maybe all the posters should be commending those 2 boys instead of judging the coach and other players.). I will end with this. If your not a GP Coach or player and privy to team meetings don't judge.

  6. Give the kid a break! We all may need 2nd chances b4 we leave this earth. Go roadrunners! Im 4 anybody when they play GP. Their fans r obnoxious.

"Give the kid a break". 2nd chance, 3rd chance, 4th chance..... where do you draw the line. That's whats wrong with our society today. We no longer realize that their are consequences to our actions. As far as top teams in district making sure every things are above board in the Pryor situation how could they. I'm sure they are more concerned with their own teams. It certainly makes the coach & administration at AE look bad. It's obvious that their concerned about one thing and one thing only "winning ball games". Don't forget AE= Always Eligible.

  7. Enough already on this bickering from the south and north ends of the district. Let's get down to what's important - basketball. It isn't about Prima Donnas who dance on the court or down the sideline. It isn't about coaches who think that just because they are from a wealthy county they can act like a Prima Donna. A hug and a handshake just won't get it. It only makes the rest of us wonder just what's going on off the court! Now don't get me wrong - I'm talking about secret meetings and get-togethers the rest of us aren't invited to. Who knows what goes on in those meetings! When one team acts like jerks on the court and then gets mad when they are met outside with resentment and unspeakable gestures - both need to grow up and become a real part of the district. Why can't you guys act like Bulldog fans and show some class. Come on! District Tournament time is here and we need more than a handshake and a hug to get things going for the game. Let's go young men and women in the District! Play hard, play good, and don't act like the Prima Donnas sitting in the coaches chairs. Getting a new school and gym - get your noses out of the air and play ball! Bulldogs bite hard when they bite. I guess we'll have to fire up the old redneck van and make the trip over to Claiborne County or GP or CG wherever the games are going to be played and enjoy the show. Dance on Prima Donnas, dance on.

BORN TO AGITATE AND LOVE IT!

Enough? It had pretty muched stopped until you opened your big mouth. If your going to try to agitate get your facts straight and maybe jump on the fight before its over. Secret meetings? Wonderful bulldog fans? Would that be the same ones that will be watching the rest of the tournament at their gym after losing tonight in the first round. Its basketball. You play hard (everybody's your enemy on court), you win or lose, you shake hands and move on. Again as already stated if your insistent on whinig could I recommend Sweetwater Valley Farms Brand to go with that wine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GET A LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!GET OUT FROM UNDER THAT ROCK OCCASIONALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. how much sportsmanship does GP ever show????

You guys have really got to get out occasionally. You definitely don't have much to do up there. What did GP actually do that was so bad? Why are you still whining so much that you started not 1 thread but 2 about GP. Can I recommend Sweetwater Valley Farms Brand since you don't get out much. I-75 south from Knoxville. Watch for the signs.

  9. this page is for talkin bout how the teams in this district are doin.congrats to union county on winning regular season, and they are really hott right now.secondly,i have herd enough from the GP people about this garbage,i know u people think u are the best thing since sliced white bread, but get over your selfs, and take your win,and as for the people that are naming our players, and saying how classless they are,i think u have no class for naming kids and saying stuff about them, and i dont know why anyone had to say anything bout football, that is over with and this is basketball season

Read where the garbage came from. Not GP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Ok, seeing as how I've stirred up a hornets nest with my comments, I must apologize for my remarks. I will say no more about GP and I may not even post on here anymore. I am a fan of basketball and have been for a long time. As a matter of fact, I'm a big fan of all high school sports. I know that coaches overreact sometimes when they win/lose a big game and so do fans. As for our coach "dancing" as you say, well as stated in a previous post by someone else, he coaches with a lot of passion and heart and gets excited a lot. He isn't doing anything to rub it in the face of any opponent. I promise you that. Coach Wolfenbarger is a class act and a good man and I'm sorry if you took his actions at GP the wrong way. Anyway, I should have kept my comments to myself and not said anything and for that I apologize. I am a big enough person to do that. Best of luck to all the teams in the district tournament and I hope there are some good games to watch.

I know I'm a litttle late in this deal. Yeah you apologized but never got the facts straight. Wolfenbarger may be a class act but actions speak louder than words. Sure there is nothing wrong with being excited after winning a game but to dance like he did at GP. (Someone help out I don't remember the great coach) "But act like you've been there before." A class act doesn't yell out the opposing coach and tell him to sit down. Players are a reflection of their coach just as kids are a reflection of their parents. Sit back and watch your players actions on the court. Yes there will be trash talking but the best you will never notice. Shipley running his mouth and stepping out to distract during the free throw when Holzer was shooting was 1) a line violation and 2) is supposed to be an automatic T if the player has the ball and he did. But hey I'm glad they didn't call it because Shipley didn't have time to box the shooter and Holzer pulled the rebound and scored. Also glad your coach acted like he did on GPs court. Just added more fuel to the fire and made GPs players want to win even more. So don't worry about what you say on here and don't bother to apologize just keep trash talking and calling their coach a jackass. I'm sure the players won't read this and it won't inspire them to play harder. Go GP!!!!!!!!

  11. BEARCLAW, I was disappointed last night. Didn't get to see any dancing after the game. Matter of fact the Gap fans were really nice. Several even waited outside the school to see us off. Waved to us and were telling us that we were #1. Think they were wrong though. I believe we ended up with #2 seed not #1 but was a real nice gesture though.

  12. Hi there folks I am not on sites of this kind very often. However I am moving into the greater Birmingham area. I as a parent believe that private school environments are better suited for my children. Therefore I am taking into consideration three schools in the Birmingham area. Shades Mountain Christian Academy, Briarwood Christian and John Carrol High School. I have looked into the history of each school as well as their coaches. However being that Mike Bramblett is seemingly new to coaching in the state of Alabama I was going to go on this site to inquiry as to if anyone from Tennessee had heard of him or has any past dealings with him as an individual, coach or acquaintance. Please feel free to simply post any updates on here as I will frequently check back.

    -Much Appreciated Parent

How did he do down there last year? Did more the previous year for GP's football program than any one has since Coach Hammonds came to Gatlinburg.

  13. Saw where Union beat Claiborne last night. If I understand the numbers drawn correctly this locks up 4, 5, 6 seeds for the tourney. 6 being PF, 5 Claiborne and Rutledge 4 even if they win Friday against Union. 1, 2, and 3 we won't know about until Friday night. Believe if I was coaching in this district I would be concerned about Union. May not have the absolute best talent in the district but certainly are peaking at the right time.

  14. Dang EAGLEFAN85, nothing gets by you. Thought you might have packed your bags for another stay for the tournament on the state line! Forget the vinegar pie unless you are just adicted to vinegar. Get a burger and some fries topped with a piece of chocolate or apple pie! Take a minute to visit Vetran's Overlook and enjoy the view back towards the Smokies. Doesn't get much better than that! The tournament games will be some of the most exciting we've seen in a while, in my humble opinion! Some good teams and great players - the recipe for some exxxxxxxciting games. And, let's not forget the coaches, they do contribute a little to the game. I'm sure all the drama classes will pay off, especially under the goal. I'm polishing the Oscar tonight for best actor in the tournament. May even have one for the coaches. After the little "dance" CGs coach did Friday night after the victory, we may even pull the dance teams and cheerleaders off the floor for his halftime show. Let's just hope there won't be any "costume malfunctions" during the dance routine!

Gotta try that vinegar pie sometime. If you didn't know better you would think it's lemon. Sorry I missed the dance but you missed the crowning of the Claiborne Sports Queen.

  15. It's very possible that 2,3,4 could finish at 6-4 in the district. I,m not saying it will happen, but if so, does anyone have the tie-breaker system in check. If numbers were drawn, does anyone know who has what?

I believe with the numbers drawn that Rutledge can forget the 1 or 2 seed in the tourney. If CG beats GP Friday then CG is #1 seed. Union can finish any where from 1st to 5th. If GP wins Friday and CG are tied I think GP has the tie breaker. If for some reason it ended in a 3 way tie then Union gets 1, GP 2 and CG 3. Maybe we will know more after Union plays Claiborne tomorrow. I think PF has the first tie breaker but I believe their the only team that has locked up a seed in the tourney. Now don't quote me on these but believe that is kind of the way the tie breakers are. In other words, should be an exciting Friday night of Basketball. Might just leave early and enjoy that scenery (much nicer in the daytime as opposed to Midnight) and stop at the top of the mountain for a piece of vinegar pie.

PS I might have been born at night but it wasn't last night. Already knew the district tourney was at Claiborne just didn't know they were going to try to keep us there last Friday until it started.

  16. Given, Steve did have good players, but he developed those players, I know cause I was one of them. I played for Brent Smith, James, and Steve.....James was the best at getting your raw tallent out of you, but his offense is basic and its running it up and down the court trying to get a lay up and then someone shoot it after that. That is great in 5th and 6th grade, but in 7th and 8th you have to have plays, you have to have more than a 2-2-1 full court defense. Now given he just had 2 8th grade boys, who I thought improved greatly over the year and will be even better under a year of Bibb, and he was having to start atleast two 6th graders most of the year. And that group may be the special one, but I'll have to wait two years to see how good they'll be. Even with TC and Jacob there he couldn't win a jr high state championship.

Steve knew how to coach what he had, now given the group we had was special, not everyone wins something like 40 straight games, (29-0) in 2000-01, and wins 3 state championships in 2 years ( 2 James C. Haile's and 1 TNT State tournament), but alot of that was because of Steve. He coached us up, had great defensive schemes, basically made us run the same offensive sets as the high school was at the time, so he not only won championships at the jr high level, he had his players ready to play when they got to high school. We used to kill Upperman when he was here, look at how good they are now that he is their coaching them.

Thought this was about TSSAA officials.

  17. Rutledge should win the championship hands down. They also have a good chance of going undefeated in the regular season. Don't know of any team in the district that can even come close especially since they have one of the possibly best juniors in the state.

Here it is BEARCLAW. Never said you made the prediction BEARCLAW. Was a fun and exciting game. Games were about 30 min behind when girls varsity ended. Then we got to watch the crowning of the Claiborne sports queen. Then we got to watch that wonderful display of sportsmanship as our young men took the floor to a nice chorus of boos and again as the starters were announced (almost 9:00 by that time). 20 -8 GP after 1 and 36 -18 GP at half. Most of the boo birds flew the coop. Claiborne coach thought were we enjoying the night so well that he extended our stay by trying to use all his time outs in the last 2 minutes of the game. Down by double digits even called timeout with about 9 seconds to go in game (I think was about a sleep cause way past my bedtime). Final score was some what deceiving. Claiborne hit a 3 at the end of the 1st quarter and at the end of the game. GP coach played everyone even himself as some from Rutledge have claimed. Only got in the way of a couple players and the refs though.

  18. Why are all the Rutledge faithful mummmmm today? Still think CG finishes 1 and Rutledge 2? Thought Rutledge was going to cruise through the district undefeated this year? Guess that's why we play the games and give the kids a chance. Guess this sets up a pretty good game next week at CG. Any thoughts?

  19. Agreed. Didn't want to bash, but it doesn't do any good in a game so you might as well do it here. I only want to cover one area. The over the back call has got to be the most missed call in high school basketball. It is not fair to the fundamental kid that can't jump out of the gym to have someone jump over his back and contact be made and no foul be called. You might as well tell the fundamental kid that he worked hard for nothing. If you don't agree about West Tn., you go watch Erin Harris from Clarksburg play. If they called his over the back calls he wouldn't average 10 minutes a game. Not knocking Erin, if they aren't going to call it why stop doing it. I guess by the time 2 average single A teams are scheduled most of the good refs are gone. Apologies to the good refs that ARE doing it for the kids to get better and because they love the game.

It's missed both ways. Out jumping another and not making contact is not over the back. A good fundamental player will make it obvious that another player is making contact. Wish there were more refs like a couple that have posted that they do it for the love of the game and for the kids. If this were the case we wouldn't have this thread.
