Does anybody know the score from Lincoln/Shelbyville last night?
-
Jordan Parris from Tullahoma has to be one of the top catchers in the state. He is batting around .600 and is the best defensive catcher I've ever seen.
If he is hitting around .600 then Tullahoma's score keeper is WAY to easy of a scorer.
-
That's right. Forgot about about that.
-
I don't remember any dropped balls by outfielders. You may be talking about the right fielder but he never touched that ball.
-
There may have been some "dinks and errors" in the first but Columbia was forcing the issue early on. There were also 5 doubles and a bomb after that inning that werent cheap at all. Tullahoma looked tight.
-
Tie Breaker is the run difference between the teams tied right? Tullahoma would be +7 in that category.
You are right. At least, this is what coach White told me last night before the game, and I'm pretty sure he is on top of the situation. Columbia and Tullahoma have the byes.
I stand corrected. Next week's games are just for seeding then. It is going to be a good series with Columbia having won 10 of 12 and the bats starting to flex their muscle.
-
I think the tie-breaker is runs allowed in all district games but I could be wrong. Tullahoma is comfortably ahead there too and it is unlikely they would not get a bye, I just didn't think it was a done deal yet.
-
Tullahoma achieved another goal that Coach White had for this years team. The Cats get a bye in the district tournement. It was definitely a big win for Tullahoma and a tough loss for the Rebels. Its a brand new season when the tournament starts. Sometimes when things go wrong, it snowballs and that's the way it went for the Rebels. The loss last nite was a wake-up call for the Cats and they were ready. Congrats to Tullahoma and good luck to the Rebels the rest of the way.
I don't think they have clinched a bye yet have they? If Columbia were to sweep Tullahoma and Franklin wins both of their games then they would both be 7-3. Columbia is the only team that clinched a bye to this point I think.
-
You know, Franklin fans, it IS possible that your kids aren't as good as you tell them they are. It will be o.k. They will be better when their talent is better.
-
With Columbia's win and Tullahoma's loss, all Columbia needs is one win over Tullahoma to clinch the regular season title. The possibility of a three way tie is still in play as well. It's going to be interesting to see what happens!

You need to read what I said again. I did not say anything about Cascade. I only spoke on Summertown because I have seen them play and it is my opinion that the game would not be close.
-
Hopefully, I would score enough runs to take the field one more time. Then, his first batter gets it between the numbers.
Sounds like something Frazier from Shelbyville would do if they would ever be up that much.
Did Frazier steal your girlfriend or something! Geez.

I am not knocking single A baseball but a fact is a fact. Watch how many regular season champs go on to run through their district tournaments. There are good teams in single A but there is usually ONE good team per district. Teams like Summertown and Cascade are good teams but who pushes them? For the record, if Columbia throws their ace and Summertown throws their ace then the game is not close. Summertown probably wouldn't score. I can't speak for Cascade and Shelbyville.
-
They won the regular season last year. That is a pretty good year. This isn't single A baseball. The regular season champ doesn't run right through the tournament every year, in fact, the history of this district is the exact opposite. The regular season champ rarely does well in the tourney.
-
Franklin's other shortstop is better than Little. It was obvious in the two games Columbia played them.
-
Lots of injuries. They never had a chance without Brothers and Thompson.
-
Well better get to know him, he is a sophmore at Riverside, last years 1A State Runner Ups, last year as a freshman he shut down Summertown and got veat in extras.. They say he throws 90 and can hit very good too. His brother was on the USJ team that won state in like 05 that got stripped of their title bc they had an illegal player coming from another county to play, which was the older Gant kid. He now plays at the University of Tennessee.
If "they" say he throws 90mph, then he is probably 84-85.
-
Last time I checked, this is a predictions thread. Not comparing teams from years ago.
Why don't you give us a fearless prediction then Brad41? What is going to happen in the Columbia vs Tullahoma series?
-
One is, they were AA because the school was so small though. Right now Tullahoma enrolls 1150 students I think. They are a very small AAA school.
How many of the runner-ups are in AA? At least one of those also right?
-
actually 70's 80's 90's and 05
but when mathis was promoted to A.D. not so much
I don't think that was the same district in the 70's and 80's. They had one good year in the 90's and that was 98. No team has been to the region half as many times as Columbia since 98. To me, that is dominant. Not one year hear and one year there.
well tullahoma has 2 state titles and 3 times runners-up how many does columbia have
How many of those are in AA?
-
Yea, Columbia has been one of the better teams in the district. From 98, and really 97 if you want to go back a year, Coffee County and Columbia represented the district in the region more often than anyone else. I'm not sure of the Columbia years. But I'm pretty sure Coffee was there in 97, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2007 and 2009. I know Columbia was in there with them in 2004 for sure, right? But with Coffee gone, it opens the district up quite a bit more.
Coffee was not there in 2000. It was Columbia and Lincoln Co.

Exactly! And I don't think it was even the same collection of teams then.

Tullahoma is a much better team than Columbia and when they play each other this will prove to be the case. The pitching at Tullahoma is deep and the hitters are certainly able to score runs against good opposition. Tullahoma seems to be a class act reverting back to the old days when they dom inated.
When has Tullahoma ever dominated this district?

If someone on here has an account with the perfect game website, they have their player rankings up for 2011, 2012, and 2013. It would be great if someone could look at those and post the players from Tennessee that made the list. Daniel Norris is rated #1 for 2011. That is all I know based on the front page of the site. Thanks.
