  1. I don't believe the law passed allowing homeschool children to participate in sports for their local school.

If passed the law would allow kids to play for ther local school not make them play for their local school. The Middle Tennessee Fire and other homeschool teams could still have their team.

Having been part of the Fire, I am biased, but it is a shame there is not a way for the Fire to participate in the post season.

  2. I will be very surprised if MTF beats Farragut, but I've only seen Farragut play this year and not the Fire. I'll say Farragut 4-1. I guess we'll see. When is this game?

The game is this Friday at 7:30 EST in Farragut. The Fire would have to play a great game to make it close or win.

  3. One issue with the Fire is they have no end of the year tournament to play for a championship. How hard is it to stay motivated all season when your games don't move you toward a destination.

Since Tennessee plays boys soccer in the spring and most of the country plays boys high school soccer in the fall. The Fire does not have an end of the season championship to play for even in homeschool circles.

I know it would be a headache but why not let them play in Division II? That way the public schools wouldn't be affected.

My intent is not to offend but to let people look at things from a different perspective. (The Players)

  4. I think the important thing in all of this is to remember the players. I think if a player goes to school or is homeschooled he should have the same opportunity to participate in sports.

The homeschool teams should also be able to participate in district, region and state tournaments. Put them in Divsion II. The point is to think about the players.

Very few players take it to the next level but we treat high school sports like it is the minor leagues. Sports and playoffs should be something in which all players have a chance to participate if they have the ability. It shouldn't matter if they homeschool or go to traditional school.

  5. The boys T.A.C.A. Allstar game is today Saturday @ 3:00 at Trevecca Girls @ 1:00.

This may have already been discussed but does anyone know where these players are going to play college ball?

  6. I heard back from a very reputable ref today and he told me that refs are going to enforce the rules on shingaurds this year. Like most things some refs will be very strict and some will not.

He told me that the shingaurds have to start 3 fingers up from the foot and end 3 fingers down from the knee.

I asked him about a player that I measured for shingaurds and according to the rules the players shingaurds would be 12 inch long. The ref told me thats what he needs to wear.

Any other refs out there have a comment? Any coaches hearing these same things?
