Joslin used to verbally rip private schools while at Cookeville. Taking the JP2 job is quite ironic.

Oh wow, I love observing ya'lls comments. Did this go from talking about the game to about the # of African-American athletes on each side of the ball. Well I'll let ya'll know something: Dick Butkus, Jack Lambert, Jim Taylor, Steve Owens, Jay Novacek, Lance Alworth, Roger Staubach, Wes Welker, Jason Witten, Peyton Hillis, Bill Bates, Teddy Bruschi, and Tom Brady are all white. Would ya'll take these guys on your team? If that doesn't settle the point: Have ya'll looked at MBA's freshmen and 8th grade class? They have twice the # of African-Americans in those class than Ensworth does? But, I don't hear anybody talking about the direction that MBA is obviously going. I watched MBA football closely when I moved here in 1998, and the culture there has completely changed. I don't know what boosters, or guys like K Woodruff think about it, but I would be concerned with the direction of the program. I used to be an MBA fan, but not anymore. And I'm not talking about the influx of African-Americans, I'm talking about the "culture" of the place, from the way the kids behave off the field to the way they compete on the field. Something has changed about that place. I don't have the reasons or any answers to the solution, but it sure seems nobody is talking about it. I guess when you lose, nobody cares. I don't have a dog in the fight either way, but when I watch how Bowers handles his players compared to McGugin, I'm sending my kid to Bowers every time.
Grey Ghost, always good posts, but I must disagree on this one. I know both of the coaches and I along with the vast majority would agree that you have that one backwards.

Webb is well coached and has talent. First class program.
In all reality they would finish 7 out of 8 in D2 M/E ahead of JP 2.

When the AD's at both school started trying to complete schedules for the next two years all DIIs school where contacted...even MUS for home and home games. All declined. MUS stated their schedule was already set for the next two years. Therefor MUS was not contacted for the Bowl game that was put together after. Only AFTER being offered $$$ did two DII schools sign up.
I just hope MBA will be better than they have been the last couple of years.
FYI - BCsportsfan - this simply not true. No D2 schools were contacted about a home and home. Believe what you want.
Also - MBA would have beaten Maryville and Alcoa the past two years.
-
Alcoa's AD already called........all three stated their schedules have already been filled.
believe what you want about Rankin..........but look at Alcoa's record against the big boys in D1 and D2........Alcoa will play anyone!
The Blount County Kickoff bowl now has some BIG $$$ backing........stay tuned!
Not true, my friend, not true at all
-
Congrats MUS, well deserved. MBA earned the same trophy last year for finishing #22.
-
How did the boys do against Friendship Christian? I thought the scrimmage was at home!
-
How is he playing on the tour?

Interesting that you say, there is NO WAY MBA is the best. Who is then? MBA beat MUS and Baylor and would have swept McCallie.
Fernandez beat Fynn 6-4, 6-2
Fritz over Thornton (Thorton may be McCallie's worst player, he shouldnt be top 5)
Tywang easily over Robinnette
Dale and Nelson (wouldnt have finished)
Naftilan over Ramsay (not close this time)
Doubles
wouldnt need to be played but....
Tywand/Fernandez easily over Robinette/Thornton (MBA's #2 team beat them)
Dale/Fritz easily over Fynn/Nelson (6-2, 6-2 earlier this year and would be worse this time...Nelson cant volley)

I heard a rumor that the new Ensworth High School (coached by former MBA coach Ricky Bowers) is also trying to hire MBA's O-Line coach Edd Caudill (considered to be one of the top O-line coaches in the state). Is that rumor true? Is it also true they offered to double his salary? Any info would be appreciated.

First of all the game was at Cosby. Secondly, Ingle Martin did not play in the game. Nor did Domonique Morris and Moses Osemwegie. All three were on football recruiting trips. You could not have found a coach in the state that would have wanted to play that MBA team during the playoffs.
I can only speak for the Nashville area, but it is the DI schools that refuse to play the D2's. Marshall Co. and Columbia have played MBA for years, and both schools dropped MBA this year.

MBA's 1999 team was better than both '95 BA and '96 BA. BA was down 10-7 to MBA in '95 going into the 4th, and MBA got robbed in '96 in double OT vs. BA. The '99 team was 4 touchdowns better than the 95 and 96 MBA teams. BA was good those years, but not as good as MBA in 99.
-
BA doesn't even have a 9th grade team...get off me
-
MBA would win it this year and the past 3 years. They have blown everyone away for three years. They have better coaches, players and a better system than anyone around. The results prove it.
-
Riverdale's 9th grade team sounds awesome. How is MBA's team, considering they beat Riverdale?
-
The BA team of 1995 was down to MBA 10-7 late in the 3rd. The BA 96 team should've lost the game to MBA in 3 OT's. The MBA '99 team would've beaten all of these teams by 3 TD.
-
MBA 1999...the best in TN history. 15 players playing in college. They killed everyone and finished in the USA today top 10
-
You are all wrong. NE beat MBA by two points in '96 with MBA's best player not even playing in the game. That year MBA lost to BA in the quarters in 3 OT's. BA didn't play NE in 1996. They played in 1995 and BA beat NE in the quarters. BA then beat MBA in the semis in 1995 with MBA being up 10-7 going into the 4th quarter. Gets your facts straight.
-
MBA didn't play well, but still easily handled Goodpasture 23-0. There is a huge difference between a DII power and any DI team..with the exception of Riverdale or DB

MBA 23 Goodpasture 0

Ensworth vs. MBA-Semifinals
in Division II
Posted
When these teams play in the playoffs, revenge has taken place both times.
2009 - Reg Season- Ensworth wins, Playoffs- MBA wins
2010 - Reg Season - MBA wins, Playoffs- Ensworth wins
