  1. How many pitchers throw for one team at a time? It takes guts to pick a 10-person team in a sport that plays 9 at a time.

Well the whole point of picking a team like that would be to have the best line-up if that team were to actually play a game...how often does one pitcher throw the entire game? not much. the all mid-state team would be equivalent to the NFL picking an All-Pro team...and they pick more than one QB for those teams...

  2. the tennessean writers don't really cover sports at all...they basically go by word of mouth. You really don't think they went through all the stats of the high school kids around and picked the best ones do you? If that was the case then some of the best players with a mediocre year would not have been chosen. For instance, Jacob Stallings (don't get me wrong he is phenomenal player) would never have been chosen batting only .333 with only 31 RBIs this season. Surely there are more catchers with better stats... Also, in my opinion, more than one pitcher should have been chosen for each team. Any thoughts?

    * All games starting on Monday will be played at White House

Any word on the play-in games tonight?

  4. I think we can all agree that Goodpasture will probably win this tournament with good coaching and a solid pitching staff although their hitting lacks at times, the main question shouldn't be who is going to WIN the tournament it should be who is going to advance to regionals. Goodpasture is already going with their win in the reg. season. Who else will advance?

  5. Goodpasture is takin on White house on monday and tuesday which should be a pretty good game but I think goodpasture will come out on top in both of them. I am curious to see whether it will be collins or midgett on the mound as the ace for white house though.

Greenbrier takes on DCA on Tuesday and Thursday which will be two great games. I could see either team winning this one

Station Camp and Portland will also battle on monday and tuesday. I'm not sure how either of those teams are looking this year though, i'm pretty sure they both lost a lot of seniors last season.

Does anyone know who is going to be on the mound for greenbrier, dca, portland, and station camp?

  6. Obviously Sonny Gray

    Obviously Will Clinard

    Obviously Matt Ramsey

I don't know if anyone knows of him besides us Nashvillians, but Craig Stem throws some serious heat. Tall righty throws low 90s with a dirty curve and an even dirtier slider. He struggles with control, but the pro scouts are still lookin in his direction. My kids go to DCA with him and they say he's a class act as well.

  7. How is Dustin Weaver from DCA looking. I play in the summer with him and I haven't seen him since. I know he was throwing gas then so it possibly could have been him that was serving up all the K's?

No it was Craig Stem serving up all the Ks... Weaver is looking great this year though he has improved a lot since last season.

DCA scrimmaged Antioch tonight at DCA

    DCA 16

    Antioch 2

  8. Do not count out Greenbrier. They are in the same district as DCA and Goodpasture and lost only 1 senior from last year. They have depth pitching and a ton of offense. Watch out for Greenbrier, they are definately under the radar.

That's exactly the problem with that, they are in the same district as DCA and Goodpasture. If they get past both of those teams then they deserve to win state, but I don't see that happening.

  9. JPII and DCA scrimmaged tonight in what was kind of like a six outs setting (3 innings: six outs per inning, clear bases after 3)

No official score was kept, but i would say it was probably dca by at least 10... i know jpII had at least one run.

The pitching for the knights struggled a bit and the pitching for DCA looked pretty polished, 3 of those pitchers had numerous strike outs which one guy (i'm assuming is craig stem, but i do not know for sure) had 6 strike outs in only two innings of work...

JPII pitching threw strikes, but gave up some costly hits, but still looks to have a pretty good team this year

    good luck to both!

  10. there's a rumor going around a kid from the brentwood bulldogs is in the 90s, someone said he's 6'5' 205. They say his last two outing,s he has struck out 28 in 14 innings. Has anyone heard this I believe his last name is Stem

His name is Craig Stem. I've played with him a little bit this summer. he goes to DCA he had an off year this year in school ball. This summer he is throwing 92 with 4 pitches he can throw at anytime, his slider is nasty

  11. DCA is takin state in AA next year. They only lost 2 seniors and one of those seniors was injured for the last half of the season anyways. Their ACE pitcher is returning along with several others that are hard to handle. Everyone on this team is hard working and everyone underestimated them this year. Next year they will come back much stronger and surprise everyone again

  12. QUOTE(bigchief @ May 23 2007 - 07:13 AM) 826465083[/snapback]I think you got Hill and another Mt. Juliet player, Caleb Cotham mixed up. Although with Caleb's redshirt they could both be sophmores in '09.

TAYLOR Hill is the MJ player that signed with vandy

Mt. Juliet also has a caleb hill, but he's not going to vandy
