  1. Once again its time to start off a baseball season. Once again we fight the forces of Mother Nature (Rain). With 7 Seniors & 8 Juniors the Valley looks pretty good with alot of tallent. LV Small-ball will be back in play this year. We have a few long-ball hitters but mostly good contact players. How do the boys at CCS look?

  2. At Lookout Valley we use to have between 8 to 12 Scrimmage Games before opening day. Then TSSAA made rules that teams could only have 4 Scimmage Games before the season starts. WHY? Does this Help or Hurt? Both of my kids played Travel Ball, One played College Ball, its all about Practice, Practice & more Practice. How do you feel about TSSAA Rules?

  3. Cold in the am and pm.

Looked like a few teams played their JV teams.

Did all the teams let every player get a chance to play in every game or did they mainly play their varsity team?

LV Played 3 Varsity & 1 JV, Got alot of pitchers in, Good way to knock the cobb-webs out. Good Luck to all!

  4. Sites are Hixson, Red Bank, Soddy Daisy, Ooltewah, Central and McCallie, I think. As far as what teams are playing, I would say every team you could name.

This is a good thing for Chattanooga teams. Its not a win/lose thing its about getting your team some good practice time in. Will all the TSSAA rules now on pre-season practice. Good Luck to all the Teams. :flower:

  5. If its not about the big LV then tdolly just cant handle it. what about marion, what about boyd, what about lv, what if the king was a queen, and THE queen had a pair. WHAT IF.......... Let me guess my feelings are hurt.lol. thank goodness someone on here talked real baseball thanks owls fan... good luck to all of you and special good luck to tdolly and his fighting jackets............

The Jackets and Owls had a good game today. The Owls will have a good year! Alot of Good Tallent! GO JACKETS & GO OWLS!!! Hows that RB22!

  6. I took a young man, to the Chattanooga Baseball Club try-out for the 14u team. They had some very good players there and top coachs from around the area some are college coachs. We stayed to watch all the kids. I wanted my kid to watch the older boys, so he could see want he had to do to get better.I seen a kid on the 17u or 18u team playing infield that was extremely smooth a cut above the others kids at the try-out. He had a LV shirt on he looked familiar but he didnt play infield for LV at the games I seen and i watch LV play four or five times last year. Does anybody know you he was very good player.

I think the only LV players that try out were M.Allison (Junior) & A. Odell (Senior).

  7. Nobody said you could not talk about your single a teams. all i am saying is it sad to see to programs that really do not play tough schedules at all aruge about how good they are. oh and yes i could make lv's team and the 299 porch down the line you call a field. good luck to both teams as lv will win 40 games and play absoultley nobbody and not win a state title. i love pushing peoples buttons especially ones that know nothing about the game. :thumb::x

With only 2 Post, You haven't pushed to many buttons. Tough Schedlules? Untill TSSAA! LV played Baylor, McCallie, Red Bank, Cleveland, Central & other Schools in the area. Look under TN Baseball Records web site and you will have some use full info. You might make the team, but we dont use waterboys in baseball! :D:thumb:

  8. If Coach Dinger was hard on the Umps, they need it. The Umps the last few years have slowly got worst. Call a Ball a Ball & a Strike a Strike! Don't feel sorry if the Pitcher can't throw a strike. Most of the time "Home Cooking" is the right call. Grace will one day will beat LV in baseball and grace fans will jump for joy like a Championship game. But in the Long run LV beats Grace hands down. How many Aces do you think LV faces every year? alot! Good Luck to both teams! GO JACKETS!!!!

I know many of the umpires in Chattanooga and would have expected that experienced umpires would have been working this game due to the 2 teams involved. It is disappointing, to say the least, that if this occured as you described, that Coach Dinger didn't get warned and then dumped as he should have.

I have seen numerous Lookout Valley games over the past 10 years and have seen Coach Dinger deal with umpires only very professionally. This is somewhat surprising to me.

And as far as the umpiring getting worse, from what I've seen, the overall quality of baseball in the Chattanooga area has gotten much, much worse. If umpires are searching for strikes, maybe that's what makes the umps look worse, too. Don't get me wrong, I've yelled at umps over the years too, but if you look at last year particularly, the baseball in Chattanooga was very, very poor overall.

Old RCR thinks this guy knows what hes talking about! :roflol:

  9. Rose should have a good year at Grace. Where did all the David Brainerd players end up?

I saw one pitcher from grace last year that threw pretty hard. looked like the ace and was pretty tall is he still there? david brainerd kids went to Ooltewah and East Hamilton

Two of the better David Brainerd players went to Notre Dame (Sheldon Brogden and Zach Swartout)

Will Jeff be helping with Notre Dame?

  10. can we change the title of this to like baseball for the blind or maybe little league classification. i mean come on we are aruging about grace and lv. who cares neither team will win state okay so can we just get along. and even if they do wow you won in single a great accomplishment. wow guys come on.......

Sorry! We don't have anything else to talk about. How about that Curling in the Winter Games? :) Man I cant wait for some Baseball!!!!!!!

  11. Ooooohhhh...guess I struck a nerve there "rage".. you must be wound tighter than a $2 watch! I believe the ump was calling a strike a strike and a ball a ball until coach dinger let the ump know that he was not going to let him call the game that way. If coach dinger is that way all the time then I'm sure he will run into an ump that won't allow that, it looked like LV knew how far they could go w/ that ump. Our pitcher was throwing strikes and that is why the LV coach was upset! If I didn't know better because of the way you flipped out on this post that this isn't dinger himself! And by the way, I'm sure that the umpires in this area are appreciative of all of little coach dingers help!

No nerve hit here, Not going Postal! Just don't like cry babies, Sorry! No I'm not Coach Dinger (HaHA). Ask some of the other Grace fans who old RCR is. Has a old Baseball Coach and past Umpire nothing against Umps. Just be in position and do your best to make the right call. See ya at the Gate. :)

  12. Don't have a dog in the hunt this year but I'd still like to see Grace beat LV. LV is a hard team to beat anytime, especially on their own field. Season before last I saw the LV coach just rip the ump behind the plate a new one for the way he was calling balls and strikes....after that Grace couldn't throw 2 strikes in a row even if their life depended on it! Now, I've seen hundreds of baseball games and have never seen anything like that without the coach not receiving some type of reprimand. Mind you, I'm all for the coach speaking out to try and help his team but he stepped way out of line and showed the ump up! We were all shocked and were thinking that he won't get another close call....I guess we forgot where we were! This and several other "home cookin" instances have I guess stuck in the players heads. I'm sure the LV coach had it all under control! LV players are coached well and work very hard, I can't say enough good about the way they play.

If Coach Dinger was hard on the Umps, they need it. The Umps the last few years have slowly got worst. Call a Ball a Ball & a Strike a Strike!
