1. QUOTE(TheOldScout @ May 16 2007 - 07:54 AM) 826460092I disagree my ole friend. I think it will be a good game Marion is on a roll and they have beaten some good teams this year and we both know that Meigs is streaky. I think it depends on what team shows up for Meigs, there was a couple times they have come out flat IMO especially against Central and Polk. Also with Roberts pitching your putting Watson at short which could bite them. Tyler needs to dominate the game. If Marion puts alot of balls into play I think they will win. Meigs struggles at times, like I said very streaky especially on defense. Good luck Meigs!

I agree, as I said yesterday Meig's defense is not as good with Roberts on the mound (for reasons you pointed out). I do have to say that Watkins has seemed to realize that he can't be as "all-out" at SS as he tended to play earlier in the year (by this I mean he seems to be slowing down just a bit to more cleanly get the ball out and make a throw with less velocity to first thus diminishing the risk of throwing the ball away). Meig's really misses Howie Meadows behind the plate and his bat in the line-up (although he DH'd against ND and nearly jacked one, don't know if they plan to do the same tonight). Should be a good game if Roberts is "on" and the bats stay hot.

  2. QUOTE(MIKE LINEBACKER @ May 15 2007 - 10:38 PM) 826459992Honestly, why would you throw your number 2 guy? This game isn't as important as Friday's which is a given. Marion will throw 3, 4, or 5 which are as good as any.

If you win you host and that's better than traveling, besides if you have a couple of good pitchers you throw your #2 tonight and your #1 again Friday with 3 days rest. If Marion's 3,4 and 5 are as good as their #1 and #2 then they either don't have anyone that stands out or they're truly blessed with lots of good pitchers. But as they say, that's why you play the games.

  3. QUOTE(mexican @ May 15 2007 - 02:31 PM) 826459606Last nite the pitcher for Marion threw strikes but only average at best. Garland, Roberts, Shaw, Aderhold, Bean, Davis, Beard from district 5 much better. If he was number one, Meigs will light up number 2 for sure. Central hit him but right at them all night. Don't bring the swords cause this will not be a dual.

Yeah, I read the paper and sounded like Chargers just couldn't find a hole with their bats. The Tigers really miss Meadows, behind, and at, the plate but their D is usually solid, not as good with Roberts on the mound but hopefully good enough to win. If Marion's pitching is less than stellar Tigers should win. A win would be huge allowing Tigers to host again Friday.

  4. QUOTE(TheOldScout @ May 15 2007 - 06:41 AM) 826459340Congratulations on a great season to all three teams. The games between Central, Polk, and Meigs were some of the best games I have seen in a long time as was last nights at Marion. Sorry for the loss. That was a tough loss for a great pitcher. I loved the way all three of these teams battled every game.

Meigs good luck wednesday against Marion looking forward to this one as well. My hats off to Josh Garland on the win. What a great kid and I love the way he pitches even when he struggles he continues to battle through it. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

It was good win for Meigs, as the paper said Garland didn't have his best stuff (the ump's strike zone was the middle of the plate and the middle of the thigh and acted as though he'd never seen a curve, definitely a hitter's ump which contributed to his struggle greatly) but he did keep throwing hard and induced a lot of ground balls and go the win. The defense played well and the bats came through at key points. Too bad for Central, do you know anything about Marion (pitching, bats, teams defeated/defeated by).

  5. QUOTE(volsbbfan @ May 15 2007 - 01:51 PM) 826459588That is good to know. Now I want have to wonder if I have to record American Idol or not. I should be able to get home in time to watch live. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Meigs will know they are in a game, I promise.

I know Shaw is a good pitcher so the 1-0 score is not that telling if Shaw was "on". I'm much more curious if Marion's pitching is as good as the 0 on the Central side indicates. Roberts has very good control, and Meigs' bats seem to be heating up at the right time so this could be a dual if Marion has a good #2 to throw.
