  1. IMO McCallie was quite clearly the better team last night. If it wasn't for their crucial turnovers they definitely would have, and should have, won this game. No doubt about it. Anybody that was there should know who the better team was, and clearly that was McCallie. But I did hear that Baylor's underground shirts were pretty creative, anybody know where I can get my hands on one??

:thumb: Thanks for the laugh....I think that is how you intended this to be taken. Baylor dominated both the defensive and offensive side of the ball. No doubt about that....but again thanks for the laugh on that one.

  2. A big thank you to Mrs. Etter in the Red athletic office for providing the info on handicapped parking! They have a plan and everyone taken care of! Yeah!

Plan on next to no sleep tonight but wish everyone a safe evening. Hug your kids tonight (even from a distance) and tell them you love 'em! If they are a player, then whisper in their ear to go hit somebody!

Looking forward to a truly thrilling night of football tomorrow!

    Go Blue!

Bluemom....I've got a feeling that alot of young men will have sleepless nights tonight....parents too! As any of us that have been a part of this great rivarly through the years know...this game stays with them for many years. You never forget this series and you always get excited about this week every year. Here's to a great game and to every player an injury free night. Have fun at the game Bluemom...just don't have too much fun! Go Baylor!

  3. Final score MBA 17 Baylor 0. Sloppy, sloppy play by Baylor and great defense by MBA. I lost count of the Baylor turnovers...I think around 6 and a blocked punt. Red Raiders had 2 opportunities inside the 10 to score and fumbled and was intercepted in the 4th quarter. Nice defense by MBA to make those stops. Will be a long wide home for Baylor for sure. Congratulations to MBA.

  4. Halftime score: MBA 17 Baylor 0. Baylor cannot get anything going on offense at all. Alot of turnover problems. Baylor has turned the ball over 3 times with one interception leading to a touchdown. Also had a dropped punt block that also lead to a score. According to the announcer's (MBA's) their defense is playing there best this season. Unless the Red Raiders can get on track soon in the 2nd half...it will be a long half for Baylor.

  5. Great post AlcoaDad! Alcoa had a very special year and I know you are very proud. Enjoy these years watching your son play.....from experience I know it goes so fast. Congratulations.

I have enjoyed this message board a great deal. While I was never into soccer growing up, my son chose this sport when he was 4 and trying to support him, I have embraced this sport he loves and has given so much time to. I think I even understand it pretty well (laugh). I have learned a good deal about state soccer from the many posts on this board and for this I am thankful. It increases my enjoyment and my knowledge.

It was a great final game, even though my Alcoa boys did not win. I was so proud of them and the effort they gave. I was also very proud of the fan support we had. Alcoa fans are great! I also want to say I am very pleased that my son plays for Tom Gorman. I have watched the practices and I know he understands soccer, but more importantly, he knows how to coach young men and in some instances that is more important then soccer knowledge. Tom does it right. He cares about the players as people and he cares about the success they have in the class room. I cannot tell you the impact it had on my son when Coach Gorman called him over at the end of one practice and asked him about a grade in a certain class. That backed up what he had been hearing at home, that grades come before soccer. My son had a great experience at state and on the way home he informed me, before he passed out asleep, that he was starting training this week to be the best he could be for next year and hopefully make it back to state.

I would be remiss if I did not say how class an act CAK is. I do not know the Head Coach on a personal level, but it is obvious he also builds young men and does it right. CAK has a wonderful team, great fans and great tradition. Two teams fought hard, had great courage and represented their schools, parents and themselves well. Hats off to all them.

Thank you to everyone for allowing me to be part on this message board. It has been fun!

  6. Expected a great low scoring game and that is what we got. Baylor had tons of opportunities and just could not finish. Partly due to their goalie and partly because we just could not finish....but a great effort by GPS to keep it close. Baylor did not have their best game....but even on a somewhat off night they still get it done. Big win because it puts the Red in control of homefield advantage. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

  7. I just thought you were only doing A/AA and AAA. Thought what you have done is a great job and if you were not doing D2 that maybe someone else could. Thanks.

    I'm working on it.....It does take some time /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

  8. MVM, very interesting to see how each team did against quality competition. Any chance that you would have D2 information? Great job.

There has been alot of talk about playing against ranked teams and how they stack up against each other. So I did my best to to go through each schedule and find each ranked team from AAA, A/AA and D2 with their Win/ Loss / Tie record against other. IF I HAVE MISSED ONE, and I'm sure I have don't have a cow. Let me know and I will go back and correct it.

    I did think that it was interesting /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

  9. Baylor girls will not and should not need the motivation of a football game anymore than the GPS girls would be motivated by the fact that the McCallie boys soccer team lost the region again to the Baylor boy's soccer team. It's Baylor vs GPS and that is motivation for both teams alone.

    Baylor 2

    GPS 0

As GPS is the 'sister' school to McCallie, will the results of the football game last friday (McCallie 24 - Baylor 3) provide any additional motivation to the Baylor squad?

In any case: Baylor 4 - GPS 0

  10. MVM I don't think most of us that read the start of the thread misread the intent of the post. It seemed to me also that it was out of concern for the player missing senior night and could something be done. I thought it was pretty nice actually for fans (that are not ND fans) to show concern for their senior night.

I agree with you also. I don't think that visabilty, time of day, etc will change anything. Sometime or another all teams face something similar. Refs can only go by the rules as unfortunate as it can be at times....thats just how it is.

I'm sorry than I and others misread the intent of the earlier post about senior night being the issue.

About the card then......Daylight, Sunlight, painted lines, blue lines, It DOES NOT MATTER. "DOGSO". and I'm sorry to say nothing will change that.

  11. As a D2 fan from Chattanooga I have read these post with interest. I just have to say in all of my years reading and following D2 I have never read the kind of posts written by Ensworth fans. They almost remind me of the threads put out by Ooltewah Owls fans in Chattanooga.

Maybe it is because the are "new" to D2 and do not have a history. But I honestly can't think of another school that sounds like this. I have thought maybe it is mostly the students....but so many of the posts are written when they should be in school. So are these adults?

I certainly do not have a dog in the hunt on this game but just found the posts continually written on the Ensworth side....well, let's just say very un-D2 like.

    MBA 28

    Ensworth 14

  12. BattleCat, you are right. Far from all private school parents have "money". They could use the break as well like you said. I will not get into the recruiting area....you will never be able to convince those that don't want to believe otherwise. So, I will leave that area for the public vs private board. I would not go into Reed leaving Baylor for Ooltewah except that his father has addressed it already on the boards. It has been mentioned that he left because Coach Massey's son was QB....well he was. But he graduated last year and that was not the reason. As Mr. Reed has addressed it was finances....something we all understand all too well especially now. It was not because they wanted to leave Baylor....just the circumstances. Ooltewah has a great football program and I wish him all the success there. Great family. Wouldn't Ooltewah vs Baylor and/or McCallie be a great rivalry? Probably will not happen though.

I agree 100%. I am a long time Owl fan because I live in the community. I do not have children in school but I still follow them when they travel. I love and support high school football. What better match up and rivalry could be between the private and public sector than those two schools taking on Ooltewah and maybe one other community powerhouse team. The Owls only play 9 games, why not play those two. I have heard it is because the Owl principle won't allow it because those schools recruit. I do not want to put words in his mouth if that is not true, but if it is true... why did we get Caldwell and Marshall from McCallie and according to one of the other posts I saw last week... Reed from Baylor?

I say we keep Hamilton County money in Hamilton County. Heaven knows are public schools need it. And I am sure the parents of the private school kids could use a break as well.

    GO OWLS!!!

  13. It will be hard to match last year's exciting game with McCallie winning in OT. McCallie seems to have a great running game and their QB is throwing well from what I have read. Baylor has a great running game also....Sam Williams is running away from the field in yardage for the area. But the passing game for Baylor has not developed yet even though they have an incredible receiver in Brett Murray.

I expect a barn burner again this year with a different outcome. Baylor 17 McCallie 14.

  14. Thank you for the kind words to the Baylor players. Riverdale has an outstanding team! Good luck to the Warriors the rest of the season.

Wow. Those girls for Baylor are terrific. The subs played as good as the starters. First thing my daughter told me after walking off the field was that Baylors sportsmanship was first class.

Scoreless first half. Baylor scored about 8 minutes into the second half. Riverdale had some opportunities, but Baylors defense was pretty tough.

Hats off to the Lady Warriors. The defense played superb without packing the box.

    Great game.
