Some have a hard time believing that this is just a simple situation where many people would not accept a player. They wanted and wished it was one of their home raised ( city ) and if not, vowed to never accept her or her family. Like a lawyer building a case, the young transfer from Smith County last year, a fine young woman from a good family. She was met with total opposition, and many many people know there was a meeting in the city park, on a saturday, to try and figure out how to stop her. By the way she is an exceptional athlete with promise. Her family needs to pray about what they need to do. It should be said that RBS is a good community, with many good people, I think everyone assumes this. It is their duty to get involved and not allow a few to mismanage their athletes, their school, and to control their education and athletics. You probably guessed they are more interested in the sports, than they are who did best in science, and who were their parents.

Call it like it is, you need to change your name to fantasy, and for what ever reason you feel by lying and trying to hurt people , that it will help your dog, or interest in this. For two years this family endured hardship that should have never happened. This so their daughter could play ball at RBS. They considered many things, But there was no contact with anyone including Jackson County. Lakens dream was to help bring a gold ball to RBS. While the people of the town were trying to figure out a way to hold her and the team back.

It seems like we are down to only one point of contention, as your comment now substanuates what I was saying. You have a good question about mama and white, but on the other hand the papers called her and with no feeling of wrong doing I was told she answered their questions, without any malice but has since realized that it would be better to not respond anymore to their requests.I have been told relieably that she is not taking media calls.

It is not my intention to be spokesperson for this good family. The decision was made during the camp. Upon returning a visit was made by the parents to Jim Brown in Gaines boro to see if there was a possibility she could transfer. Then the statement was made that should she decide to come she would be treated fair and without intemidation. Larry White was then told, It's my understanding that he spread the word more that anyone. There is no reason to doubt this. One more statement, some keep asking about the education part, who would be thoughless enough to that this situation was hard on her physically, mentally, and in her ability to concentrate on school work.

Good to here from you muffin. I always enjoy and respect your views. As Christians we do not need to get in to name calling or hurting people. But to set back and allow someone to say anything without response is to imply guilt. No one has intenionally tryed to hurt Larry White, if you read his words he has done it to his self. In my lifetime many good ball players have been discourged and quit by the situation in RBS. Many of these young ladies carry these scars into adult hood, in to marriage, and are plaged by the unfairness and mistreatmen, and not having a fair chance to to enjoy and athletic part of school they are no doubt qualified for. I will give you one of many manyexamples, some would say it happens everywhere, but the RBS system carrys it to a new high where influence ruined a good season about 3 years ago. There was a good team that year, but one girl was a good person, but not a very good player. Because her father and grandfather were wealthy, and I don,t knock that, but they gave a lot of money to the school and with two or three good players on the bench, larry white felt compelled to play her, because when he took her out to rest, the others would catch up or go ahead , he would reinsert her and the lead would evaporate. It was not the question of her relatives been financially secure, but that this system has not been based on fairness ability, but allowing the parents to control Larry White. Larry White said that this time he stood up, took some heat and played Leonard over their objections, his words that she was the best player he had ever coached. He could have added a good person. But he only did this late in his career because he wanted a gold ball before he retired. But he still could not stand up to the pressure of the other players or parents

There would have been no problem, if Larry White had even though unhappy, been a man and wished laken well. The family did not want any confrontation in this matter or publicity. Everyone in this area knows Larry White he was asked many times to straighten out this situation, but chose as he always has to give in to a group of parents that has controlled the program for 20 or 30 years. White said himself that he put his neck on the line by playing her, that some of the parents did not want her. Mr roper what do you need to know, they had rather lose at Red Boiling , with lower caliber players than win with someone else's children. Laken is the type of player that will never say but for two years an allout effort has been made by players and parents to hold her back and force her to quit. It was thought this year would be better but it was not to be. White has had many teams that should have competed for the state championship in the past but settled for 15 wins a season in order to please the so-called elite. People who know Laken know even though enduring extreme pressure and hardship has managed to more than do her job without the support of her coach who said she could handle these players and their parents all by her self. Now say what you want this is the truth, The coach as always is reaping what he has allowed to be sowed. There is no money, no new car , no nothing been offered by Jackson County only a promise for a fair chance, respect, and to be able to have fun doing what she truly loves, playing ball. Mr Roper I respect your district, your team , your right to express you opinion. You should however make the effort to find out the truth before making false statements about people. If Laken is a good person, and a good ball player it will come out. Jackson County has promised to treat her with respect, and to give her a fair chance to play ball. Most everyone here knows this is the situation, no one wants to get involved in public. The family has made no effort or seeked out publicity for any reason. Case Closed.
