  1. Cosby will be tough to beat @ your alls place. I think Unaka can but not sure they will. Depends on which Ranger team shows up, because make no mistake they are very talented. Dist.1 was very balanced this year. I see 3 wins for district 1 in the other 3 games.
  2. Time to eat my crow. First off, congrats to the dogs, outplayed us on both ends. Now with that being said, I would have thought we would have shown a little more intensity. I mean, for heaven's sake, we were playing for a district championship! Never looked in sync all night. 31% from behind the arc and 52% from the free throw line don't cut it. You aren't going to win many games like that. I'm not even going to get started on the D. Well...... Here's a suggestion though, We may want to do more than just watch Murry and Chambers shoot it out there on the baseline! Did we get a hand in their face even once all night? BUT.......... move on and get back in the gym. Now is the time to turn it on Landers! Again, congrats to the Dogs, Hope we get another shot at you fellas in the regional.
  3. He's off writing a poem about the creekers somewhere knowing him. This is kinda fun! In all seriousness though, I look for a battle. It will be another classic( for the 4th straight year ) Couldn't resist throwing that out there!
  4. I Talked to several trainers, nutritionists,P.E teachers when my boy was young. The word I got is as follows: Kids need to be active. Stretching, running, pushups, situps, etc.. are recomended. Weights are a waste of time UNTIL puberty sets in(growin hair, voice changing, etc) Until that point the testosterone level in their body isn't really high enough for weight training to benifit any more than regular exercise will. Others may have different opinions. Sit ups were ESPECIALLY benificial to mine. Core exercises were what we concentrated on. Balance, agility and speed are all directly linked to this. The guy that was joking about ballet wasn't entirely wrong. Lots of NFL guys take it as well as some form of martial arts.
  5. People have been on me to stir the pot a little so here goes, Officiating will play a major role in this one. If they "let em play" we win it, If it's called tight, the dogs have a good chance. Even with your height advantage I think we are the more "physical" team and you all are more of a "finesse" team. There, I've stirred it up now, what comes to the top?!
  6. Sorry to hear that. How in the world did that yungin' do that? Against Unaka,In practice or at home? Is it fractured or cracked? Hope he's not done for the season. Puts a dent in the Dogs depth for sure. I hate that for the team and Lane as well.
  7. Lost a tough one at S.Green tonight 62-60. I hate playin in Green co.
  8. All the pieces are there, and Ned should put'em together by turney time. Every team goes through some adversity during the season. It's how you respond to it that determines the type of team you are or will become. Good luck tue. night dogs!Hoping you send them back to the creek with a L tucked in their pockets.
  9. I don't know about talent wise but I just kinda felt we were more athletic at every position on the floor. Besides maybe Cody, I thought we had the best 5 out there at any given time. Just my Opinion.
  10. 19 first half points, and held them to 6 points in the 3rd qtr. That's pretty good D.
  11. I agree, Hampton just didn't look........cohesive? They were out of sync all night. Really surprised me, thought it would be a 6-8 point game either way. Good job Landers, Keep it rolling. C'mon dogs, get it together, the pieces are there, just put em' together and make a run. We got to keep this 1-2 thing going!(as long as we stay 1 )
  12. Say what you mean and mean what you say?
  13. Barney Fife probably could. I heard they called all the kids that wanted to play in there and 29? or 30? showed up. Only problem is there's only 10-12 in the weight room. 6 that are basketball players so lets see, 12+6=18 now 30-18= 12 that need to get their butts in there! The best coach in the world can't keep you from getting physically whipped on the line, only you can do that in the offseason!
  14. Wow, Where have I saw/heard this before? Oh yea, sounds kinda like our football season. I feel bad for you fellas but mostly for the kids that have been dedicated to following up on last years team's success. Got some great, dedicated kids at Hampton right now.Got to be frustrating for them. The coupla kids I know from down there, there ain't no quit in them. Hope everything works out for their team. Maybe some younger kids will make the most of an opportunity presented and gain some valuable experience. See you fellas tomorrow night. I still expect a WAR come 8:30 or so
  15. Michael Buffer said it best fellers! Google him
  16. Where the heck are the Naker fans? Goes to show how far the mighty have fallen when they ain't talkin. Kinda miss the old days! On to our game tonight, good thing you missed this one king! SORRY,SORRY,SORRY! Hope we were lookin forward to the game 'gainst the dogs cause we played a sorry half of ball 2night! The subs played most of the 3rd and ALL the 4th and out played the starters. Guess that could be a good thing. At least Carp knows how deep he can go now! C'mon Landers, now is the time to STEP ON THE GAS, STOP COASTING! YOU GET A TEAM DOWN, GO FOR THE JUGULAR! If you don't somebody behind you in the rotation will! They showed that 2nite! No doubt we have the talent but do we have the HEART? I think we do, but we got to show it. This is essentially the same team that went undefeated in 8th grade(minus 1 player) against the best Johnson city,Bristol and Kingsport had to offer. Put away the girlfriends, x-boxes and other distractions and get your butts in the gym on off days and play to your capability! One of the saddest things in the world is wasted potential. Make the most out of the time you have gentlemen cause it will be gone before you can turn around, I promise you! I got faith in you Landers,You got faith in yourselves?
  17. We'll save you a spot, and Uknoit2. Best view in the whole place without reffin the game. King, the Creek plays North Green Friday. That might turn into a good game there too. Guess it depends on which N.G. team shows up at Snavely. Can't wait til Fri.
  18. What do you think? Hampton is coming off a tough loss, The Landers a tough win. I fully expect the Dogs to ratchet up their intensity level Fri. night. I look for both teams to come out ready to play. This should be a great game. I'd say "spirited" might be an understatement for this one! All these kids know each other and even played AAU together but there ain't nothing better than beating your friend head to head. Better get there early unless you want to stand for this one. Fightin it out for 1st in conf., this is how it should be, and could be for a good while. Safe trip up Whitehead Hill to all you dogs friday, see you at the game. I'll be in my usual place Uknoit2. lead lead? how did I do that?
  19. Dadgum, looks like the dogs got caught in a trap game tonight. Bet they come back with intensity Fri. night though. Ned and Carp both got a little work to do. U.H gave us all we wanted tonight for sure. How in the world have they lost some of the games they have? Looked pretty good to me. BUUUUUUTTT we were partly to blame for that too. We have to develope that killer instinct. Get up 10-12 points and then turn the ball over or take some dumb shots and letem' right back in it. Guess it's a learning process for a couple of young but talented teams. GOTTA BRING IT EVERY NIGHT, EVERY POSSESSION!
  20. Big week for the Highlanders. U.H. monday with the Dogs coming to Sonny Smith Fri. night. Also have Providence sandwiched in there on Tue. night. Should be a busy, exciting week for Lander fans.
  21. Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck would say that all this is GOOFY talk. They made a decision, Now they'll live with it. Might have been right might not. Only they know. Disney trips, girlfriends, x-box,etc........there are hundreds of things out there now days that weren't when we were in school(besides the girlfriends ) that kids would rather do than make a commitment to being part of a team. Thats just the way of the world nowadays. Not only has the world changed but kids have changed with it. Each generation feels more entitled than the last. Everything comes too easy now. I can't imagine having a cell phone or the world wide web when I was in highschool.
