  1. There will be alot of new faces / names in the starting group... I don't exspect a change of scheme.. " If it's not broke... yada yada.... Coach Emert will build another good line... The other coaches will find the right "fit" in the other positions.. Cope, Lail, Gordley and Garner will be year older and stronger... That being said, I exspect a good year. There will be a "learning curve" to endure but as the new faces get more game time I think we will enjoy more and more success.. No matter what, it will be fun... I look forward to next season... With this last season being our first year in this offense the players coming up will be better schooled in the scheme and that should help the learning curve.... When does spring practice start? /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

    GO GOVS

Last year it started around late April I believe but not sure about this coming season. I agree though. All the returning starters will have more game experience and Coach Emert always does a nice job with the line. Experience will only benefit all of the new players. I look forward to next year. Go Govs!!!

  2. I'm starting this thread as a place for William Blount fans to discuss the past football season, future hopes, etc. I respectfully request that all trash-talking from opponents/detractors be taken to another thread.

William Blount players.... thanks for a great season. It didn't end the way we wanted, but you guys have played hard all season long and have nothing to be ashamed of. All season long you played ranked teams and performed very well. All of South Blount Co., and many of our brethren at Maryville and Alcoa have pulled for us and have given us new-found respect.

Thanks also to the coaches. Coach Meadows, you have surrounded yourself with a fine cadre of coaches who have taken the boys to new heights. Keep up the good work during the off-season, and we will have many more victories ahead of us.

I'm hoping a few of the fans will post their comments about the season for the first few posts, and then we will change back to specific football-related issues (prospects, future plans, etc.)

Great season govs!!!As badly as it hurt to finish that way you all had a phenomonal season.Good luck in the off season and next year. Go Govs!!

  3. There will be several to compete for this position, Pelligrini, Bartl, Burton, and I like the Freshmen QB, but they all have alot of work to do... I think there are also some other options that may not be so obvious.... Only time will tell...

Anyone have any info regarding injurys or sickness??? I think Big Sam is back ( hamstring???) .... Hope the the "bug" thats been going around is over....

Hey Tpoole I looked at the roster to get a few names and Im guessing big 71 is yours. not to sidetrack or anything but the only jv game i seen was against farragut.great game. How did the O line match up against other teams like Oak Ridge and Heritage?

  4. I agree that it is hard to be as successuful only returnig 4 starters. Here is some names to watch though. WR Yousef Baskins 6'2 175. He has got some PT this year and should be one to watch next year. WR Josh Sparks 6'2 185. Also has had some playing time. OLB Dylan Keith 5'11 170. Not much laying time yet but should be a good one if he can add some weight. Losing the whole offensive line but they have some pretty decent backups from what i have seen at JV. 2 guards that are not the biggest but move pretty well I believe one is #72 and the other in the 60's. Tackles are both pretty good size one probably 6'0 the other 6'2. Very aggressive on run blocking. #'s are 71 and 57. Qb could be a situation. Defensively Losing all the starting nose guards and one end. DE Tim Hasset is suppose to be special if he can learn the position well. He is a freshman.

  5. I will list the top ten according to the regional standings from here:

    http://www.tssaa.org/schdir/regionalstandings.cfm

    To date: October 29, 2007

Ranking ... Team Name ... Region ... Points For/Points Against

    1.) ......... Hunters Lane .... 5-5A ............... 236/48

    2.) ......... Millington ......... 7-5A ............... 300/55

    3.) ......... Whitehaven ...... 8-5A ............... 275/73

    4.) ......... Riverdale .......... 4-5A .............. 236/86

    5.) ......... Collierville ........ 8-5A ............... 222/87

    6.) ......... William Blount ... 2-5A ............... 265/95

    6.) ......... Bearden ........... 1-5A ............... 225/95

    8.) ......... Houston ............ 8-5A .............. 246/100

    9.) ......... Dobbins Ben. ..... 1-5A .............. 223/103

    10.) ....... White Station ..... 8-5A .............. 343/114

That's four region 8 teams, two region 1 teams, and one team from regions 5, 7, 4, & 2. There you have it.

very impressive with four from region 8. I do think though WB deserves some credit. They have three 1,000 yard rushers faced this year and besides Andre Sterling have stopped them.

  6. i dont see how WB people talk like they are going to beat farragut when you see them again after they have already beat you i hope you guys keep lookin down the road to us

What I dont get is how Farragut thinks they will beat us twice. Yeah it happened last year but WB is a different team. Farraguts Defense is not even in the same category as WB's. Yeah their offense is explosive but trust me the second time around will be a different story.

  7. So if the playoffs were to be right now the games would be as followed:

#1 Farragut vs. #4 Campbell County at Farragut

#1 Bearden vs. #4 Ooltewah at Bearden

#2 William Blount vs. #3 Jeff. County at William Blount

#2 DB vs. #3 Oak Ridge at DB

If all the higher seeds won the second round looks like this.

#1 Bearden vs. #2 William Blount at Bearden

#1 Farragut vs. #2 DB at Farragut

Correct me if I am wrong.

Also IMO, region 2 sweeps making the matches:

#2 WB vs. #4 Ootlewah at WB

#1 Farragut vs. #3 Oak Ridge at Farragut

  8. Saying Farragut does not have the total package can go both ways. Sterling is the total package. Best rb in the state any classification IMO. They lack more in the passing game than anything which could hurt them down the road. But even if you know Sterling is the only thing they have you just cant stop him. he is that good. But I look for WB and Farragut to meet again in the 3rd round I believe it would be. 5a State Champ....the William Blount Governors

  9. REGION 25A IS BY FAR THE TOUGHEST IN THE STATE. FIRST OF ALL WE HAVE THE BEST RUNNING BACKS ( BRIAN MARSHALL, ANDRE STRERLING, JARED STEHENS) AND LEGENDARY COACHES LIKE BENNY MONROE AND TOM WEATHERS. ID LOVE FOR YOU TO NAME TWO BETTER COACHES THAN THOSE TWO IN THE SAME REGION. TO GIVE YOU AND EXAMPLE OF OUR LEVEL OF PLAY IF MCMINN LOSES TO WILLIAM BLOUNT THEY COULD FINISH THE SEASON AT 7-3 AND NOT EVEN MAKE THE PLAYOFFS. NOW NAME ANOTHER REGION EVEN HALF THAT TOUGH!!!!!

the only thing I wanna say about that is We do have the best in the state but the order would Sterling,Darren Garner from WB, Stephens, and then Marshall

  10. If Farragut loses to OR then WB will win. When it comes to region 1 teams competing in the playoffs I am not so sure it will happen. Every team in the top 4 in Region 2 has a 1,000 yard back. Farragut's Andre sterling, WB's Darren Garner, Ooltewah's Brian Marshall, and OR's Jared Stephens.

  11. Have you seen Riverdale's defense? Size and speed, speed, speed. Oh, and did I mention speed. I have seen WB's and they seem to be wearing concrete shoes. I have seen fim of other defenses in that area as well and they all look a little slow of foot. Speed kills. We have it and you do not.

No I have not seen Riverdale's defense. Yeah its probably true your a very fast defense but thats not what Andre Sterling is good at. He has the best cutback vision and power for someone his size that I have ever seen personally. You just know a good back when you see one and he is it.

  12. I have not seen spurlock from Riverdale but from what I have heard he has to be up there. I also agree that Sterling from Farragut should win it. He is a great running back that should defintley be playing on saturdays. As for kicker I think Kase Whitehead has to be close to the top. He is on of the most consistent punters I have seen.

  13. I guess you meant to say nobody in region 2 5a can stop him. If he played in region 4 5a he would be stopped. He would not get 100 yds on Riverdale's defense. We have great offenses, just greater defenses.

I personally guarantee he would have 100 yards if not 200 on Riverdales D. WB has one of the best run d's in the state and he had 289 so he would easily get 100 on Riverdale

  14. As others have said its to hard to determine which region is better of the 2. I am biased to region 2 because I am a William Blount fan but there is no doubt region 4 is a great region with teams like Riverdale, Smyrna, Lebanon, Wilson Central, and Lavergne. I hope that we get to meet up in the semi finals. GO GOVS!!!

  15. TribeFan, the FB is more 240. Reminds me of J. Bettis.

If im not mistaken the fullback is a sophmore.Played freshman ball last season and was a hard runner. him and the mcdermott kid were the only ones who kept them in the game down at wb. Good luck Mcminn. Mcminn 27 OR 24 ot
