  1. I am from TN but noticed there were two classes in AL. Is there any discussion about AISA? What is the history of the two classes and the split?

I'm not really sure how it all came about, but here is the link for AISA

    http://www.aisaonline.org/

AISA doesn't get hardly as much coverage, as there aren't that many schools playing AISA compared to AHSAA.

  2. I you are ready to eat some serious crow then be my guest and talk about how bad Prattville will win. If BA wins you are not going to look very smart. Now if you have been to both teams practices and have an educated opinion on the game and still say Prattville will destroy them then I will respect your prediction. BA is solid but I am not even sure they are top 10 in TN this year. I would love to see a TN/AL high school challenge similiar to what Ohio and TX do. It would make things very interesting. In their heyday BA would have destroyed Prattville, they were ranked #8 in the nation sending around 8-10 kids to D1 schools.

It is possible to have an "educated" opinion without seeing both teams practice. I think you know this, but you're refusing to accept anyones opinion who thinks Prattville will win. I remember BA in their heyday, they were very good, but I also remember Hazlewood High School, a small school in Alabama playing them very close during that time. 19 to 0 in 1993. And Hazlewood was a 2A school, and not a big 2A school. Of course, years later, HHS was whipped by BA.. 2000 to be exact I believe.

  3. If anyone knows of any radio stations that broadcast games on the internet, please post here. That way I can link them to the appropriate games and we can show if Live Audio is available on the schedule. I will try to find some myself, but it will be a big help if you can post any you know.

To Update already have links for following broadcasts:

    1.) Winfield

    2.) North Jackson

    3.) Albertville

    4.) Etowah

  4. I made my choices on the Big Ones Contest but it does not show my selection for the Prattville/ Xavier game. After the first attempt it still said pick it and subsuquent attempts told me I had already picked. It must be because I picked Prattville to get Whupped. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

LOL, well I think it's probably because of an error on the site.. but way to rile up the Prattville fans. We'll check into it and I will let you know here as soon as we correct the problem. Thanks.

  5. I think there may be a jamboree at Florence Friday.. with Deshler involved? Not 100% sure on that.

I know Brooks and Bob Jones play in a Jamboree at Russellville, I think on Thursday. I have to get some more information to see who all is participating there and the exact date. I am like you, I think I am going to try to take in one Thursday and Friday if my work schedule allows it.

  6. Just wondering if any knew of any small high school boys basketball Christmas tourneys? If anyone does, please let me know. I am new to the area and just wondering what the options were for Christmas and Thanksgiving tourneys.

Good question, but one I can't answer. Hopefully one of our users will be able to. We have some good ones up here in the shoals area, but I have no idea about Clanton.

  7. Anybody have any information on him. He is the new Coach down here in New Brockton.

We have linked a couple of articles on the main page about New Brockton. And you could do a search on New Brockton in our search box and find the articles related to them. That may give you some information/insight. Personally I don't know anything about him, but Wadley's been successful.

  8. Keep any eye on the main page for the rest of the day and tomorrow. I am setting up the Big Ones game as we speak. I am hoping to keep it to 25 games a week, which is easier said than done. I originally went through all games in Alabama in the first week of play and picked out what I thought would be tough close contests, and I ended up with 61 (LOL). So now I am in the process of dwindling down the number of games. Some great games will be left off, but we want to keep it feasible for people to participate and not innundate people with too many games. Remember to tell your friends, the more the merrier. Plus, you can show off your knowledge!

  9. A lot of really good articles on the main page today, linked from numerous sources about the impending football season. The excitement is building. Wooooo!

  10. Johnson lost it all...Just gonna be alot of athletes running around with not much coaching.

LOL like I tell ElGringoLoco all the time, and I am pretty sure he's said the same... that's Johnson every year. Some years they have so much talent they can win without the coaching, but if they had any real coaching there, they would perenially be a powerhouse.

But Fan, I've heard the same about Hartselle. Never count out a Bob Godsey coached team.

  11. A couple more:

    # 6 - throw Hatton into the combination of Town Creek and Courtland

    # 7 - East Lawerence Eagles will win 2 games this season.... the same number that they won in the last four seasons combined. (0,0,1,1)

    # 8 - Russellville will be a lot worse than the were last year... It wont matter though because everyone else in the region will be bad as well... and with the new playoff format, they'll make the semi-finals again at least...probably make it to the Super Six again and lose when they make it there. Losses--- Deshler and possibly Colbert County and state championship game.... looking at a 12-3 season, undefeated in region play.

    # 9 - Fort Payne will start the season 9 and 0... lose their final regular season game and then in the first round of the playoffs.

#10 - Deshler makes the championship game at 13-1... and then the state finds an inelgible player that should be playing at Muscle Shoals or Colbert County, or Cherokee or Russellville for that matter and forfeit the previous 13 games and finish 0-14 for the first time in school history thus giving schools like the Central Wildcats their first win over Deshler in a really long time.

Well again, different variations of #6 have been floating around for years. I hope it doesn't happen. I would hate to see Courtland/Hubbard vs Hazelwood end. That's what small school rivalry is all about.

I hope East Lawrence does well. I hate to see a team lose so much for so often. In region they have a legit shot to knock of Central, Ardmore and Lawrence County.

  12. No offense, but Speake will beat Tharptown by at least 4 touchdowns. Don't fool yourself into thinking that JV schedule last year translates into region play. I've seen that before. Doesn't happen. Speake is a very good team. Good luck to Tharptown, but this one just isn't happening.

Yeah, I would really like to see teams like Tharptown and Waterloo succeed, and ultimately I think Tharptown will.. there's a lot of talent in that area. But it won't translate that quick. I'd say they win this by 38 or more.

  13. BOLD STATEMENT # 1: Muscle Shoals Trojans will make the playoffs this season.

BOLD STATEMENT # 2: The Austin Black Bears will win their first playoff game in well over a decade. Yes...that means they're headed to the playoffs.

BOLD STATEMENT # 3: Two region 6 teams will not meet in the semifinals this season.... that has more to do with the new playoff format where they'll beat up on each other and only one has a chance of surviving.

BOLD STATEMENT # 4: Cody Gross and the Colbert County Indians will bring the blue map back to Leighton, where it belongs by beating Cordova. Could it be the first of a 3 peat like Cody was a part of in Florence in the early 90's ? Only time will tell.

BOLD STATEMENT # 5: Courtland(R.A. Hubbard) will eventually die off, combine with Town Creek and make for one power of 2A school

ALL of these are North West AL

Ok, you definitely started off with a bang. That's a big bold statement. I can't say that I believe it, but way to show some hutzpah.

I don't think #4 is that bold of a statement. Colbert County should have a good line to the Championship this season with Clay being out of 3A. People have been predicting #5 for as long as I can remember.

  14. I thought we would have more people throwing out some predictions and what not. Come on guys.. lets hear some bold statements... /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

  15. I was at that Hoover / Florence game. You said it right, the atmosphere was electrifying. I read somewhere on the AHSAA website there were over 13,000 people at the game. The thing that got me was the fact that Florence clearly looked like the better team.

BTW, who was the Falcons WR that made all of the amazing catches? I don’t remember his number but I won’t ever forget the one handed grabs.

Would not surprise me about those numbers. I know I heard it was well over 10,000. Florence was probably the better team, IMO. But let's face it, they are new to being a good 6A team. Hoover's been there and done that and I think in the end that's what helped them win the game, heck pretty much the same thing the following week versus Hueytown. And for the life of me, I can't remember the name of the receiver you are referring to, I even searched Times Daily to see if I could find something and I couldn't.

  16. I am glad to see some of you guys (and gals) have already taken the initiative to vote in the preseason fan poll. It is coming along nicely, and by the looks of it, the polls are showing a pretty good understanding of the whole state, and not just extreme bias towards certain teams.

    Now let's get some more topics going... /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

  17. Greg, I appreciate the effort, but it may be more advantageous to simply provide a link to the schedules on our page. You did a great job filling those in, let's use them. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
