I am trying to make some teams for my NCAA 2010 game on xbox 360.
I want to make JU Blacksher, McIntosh and Waterloo.
Problem is, I have no idea what their uniforms look like. Can anyone help me out? Maybe send me some pictures of these teams or maybe just describe the unis if you can? There will be more later too. But right now, I am focusing on these three.
-
not sure. I will check on it. you didn't accidentally miss a week or so did you?
-
I've heard a lot of people (North Jackson people) fussing about the call, but I haven't heard any action taken by the AHSAA on the officials, nor have I seen any video footage to have an opinion on the call.

I love the talisman site. I have communicated with him a lot over the years. I always look at his stuff and his site is always very organized. Very nice guy too if you ever have to deal with him.
His rankings are very good. But it's based on a points system so he doesn't interject his personal feelings into it at all. Which is fine by me. Yratings (located at yratings.com) also does a pretty good Ratings system.
-
I completely disagree. If you watch enough football year in and year out, you know what teams are good and which are bad. Thats why teams from Region 2 4A don't get a lot of respect no matter how well they do. The only team that's been ranked at all in the last few years is Elmore Co. and I cant remember if they were even ranked long at all. You know all those teams are pretty mediocre. When they step out of region, even up or down a class, they struggle.
You are entitled to your opinion and I can see why you would say what you say, but at the same time like I have said anyone would be a fool to rank a 7-0 Fairview team ahead of a 5-2 UMS team, or a 7-0 Fairhope ahead of a 5-2 Prattville.
I think it just boils down to what you feel the rankings should represent. Should it reward teams who have handled their schedule the best as they possibly could? Or do you use it to represent who you think are the most talented teams. I use the latter. I do like to reward teams for playing well in stretches... see my Ragland at #10 in the 1A poll. Most would say I am insane, and I think Ragland will probably lose this week, but they've played about as well as they could've. Even their losses have been quality losses, two which were to bigger schools who are both pretty decent.
But in the end, I put more emphasis on which teams I simply think are the best.
-
I think potential, how a team is playing at that particular time and how they've played against GOOD competition is what should weigh the heaviest. But that's just my opinion. UMS losing in a tight game to Thomasville is FAR more impressive than Fairview beating up on a lot of teams who are lucky to manage a touchdown a game.
-
Automatically putting undefeated teams at the top of the polls is a terrible idea, if thats what you are saying. Remember just a couple of weeks ago Danville was undefeated in 3A. Since then they have actually played good competition and gotten slaughtered two weeks in a row. There are countless examples of this happening. In 4A, Fairview is looking the same way. Now Fairview hasn't played anyone. They finish in region with Guntersville and North Jackson. If they can win these two then certainly you gotta consider them. But I wouldn't dare put them ahead of Deshler, UMS, Jackson, Brooks, etc.

Well let me go back to what I said before the season started and see if i need to revise any of it.
For 6A I said.....
6A
Davidson vs. Hoover
Outside Shot: Prattville/Huntsville
I still think Hoover is the class of the North and seems to turn it up when playing good opponents. Their great comeback against Spain Park also shows they don't give up. Huntsville has been terrible. I knew they lost some, but they are ina fairly weak region and I thought they had time to get experience and confidence under their belt.
So now for 6A North, I still say Hoover will be there. Clay-Chalkville, despite losing to Oxford in a 3 OT battle would now be my North Dark Horse.
6A South is a little less clear IMO. I would give the edge to Prattville. I wouldn't count Davidson out either, but I am not sure what to expect fully from them. Auburn and Central PC can't be overlooked either.
Championship: Hoover over Prattville

5A
Russellville vs. Vigor
Outside Shot: Boaz/Demopolis
North: The North is wide open. I still think Russellville has as much, if not more talent than anyone in the North but inconsistent play from their Quarterback has hampered them terribly. I think they are now platooning QB's, which is a hard thing to do midway through the season. Boaz is still a legit threat, but Drew Phillips has been banged up a bit and however he goes, so goes the Pirates. Cullman and Hartselle both look good, but I question the competition Cullman has played.
South: Vigor made a big statement by murdering a very good St. Paul's team last week. Three teams from one region are all threats: Demopolis, Greenville, & Carver Montgomery. Greenville's defense may be what sets them apart from the other 2.
Championship: Greenville over Russellville
In 4A I said....
4A
UMS Wright vs. Brooks (I know I know.. shut up)
Outside Shot: Thomasville/Oneonta
North: Brooks still looks like a front runner to me. We've played more consistent this year than in year's past. The Wing T does give a lot of trouble so I will be interested to see how they respond against Deshler. At this time though, I would say Cherokee County is playing amazing football, both on offense and defense. They have speed all over the field. Oneonta still can cause some problems to some good teams but they aren't quite as good as I expected.
South: UMS still is the front runner IMO despite the loss to Thomasville. Region 1 is so strong, I do believe it will be between two of their teams, UMS, Thomasville or Jackson. Handley can't be counted out. I just don't see anyone beating UMS twice in one year, even Thomasville as good as they are.
Championship: UMS over Cherokee Co.
In 3A I said....
3A
T.R. Miller vs. West Morgan (North is COMPETELY up for grabs IMO)
Outside Shot: Piedmont/Gordo
North: Obviously West Morgan is the biggest disappointment I have picked. I don't really know what happened to them. I thought they still had a lot of talent. I don't know if they've had injuries or what. Piedmont still looks good though. That early season loss to Cherokee County can only help them.
South: T.R. Miller has taken on and defeated all comers. They look like a championship team. Gordo has had it rough losing a lot of really close games. They just don't have what it takes to put them over the edge. If Ryan Smith can stay healthy Cordova has to be in the conversation. They're loaded with speed. Also can't count out Trinity. They've dominated some good teams (MA, Dadeville).
Championship: T.R Miller over Piedmont
In 2A I said...
2A
Reeltown vs. Lineville
Outside Shot: Clay County/Leroy
North: Clay Co has such a strong defense, beating them will be no easy task. Lineville still has a lot of talent but have fallen off after the loss to Clay. Lamar County may have enough offense to punch in some scores against Clay, but Winston County isn't to be counted out either.
South: I still have to give the edge to Reeltown. Reeltown has done everything they've had to. They play solid on both side of the ball. Pickens County just doesn't have that championship look IMO. But I could be wrong. Leroy, Millry and Washington County are all legitimate teams but just seem to be lacking something that could seperate them from the pack. I think the biggest threat to Reeltown is Elba.
Championship: Lamar County over Reeltown

1A
Sweet Water vs. Gaston
Outside Shot: Hubbard/Ariton
North: Gaston is just not the same team without Buice. They're very yound and nowhere near as talented. I have heard that Buice may can comeback in the playoffs, but regardless he won't be 100%. IMO their chances are shot. No one in region 5 has stepped up to the plate, although they have a few solid teams. Hackleburg, Lynn and Berry are all pretty strong teams, but nothing to write home about. Hubbard may just win the North by default.
South: Sweet Water. Enough said.
Championship: Sweet Water over R.A. Hubbard.

Sometimes its just talent. I've seen it at Brooks. We've had a lot of success since the late 90's. Not Sweet Water type success (no state title appearances), but still a very good winning percentage and a handful of region titles.
But even that being said, we've still had a down year or two mixed in there where our senior junior talent was just not that great. We still finished like 3rd or 4th in the region but we were not competitive with the top seeds. Now the young kids on those teams were very talented and learned a lot and when they were juniors and seniors, they returned Brooks to a state contender.
And I think that's where Sweet Water success lies. Not only are they talented, but they've been so talented for so long and have a great coaching staff. That gets the community excited and gets more kids to come out and play football, which obviously increases your chances. I've heard numbers that are ridiculous as to how many kids actually play at Sweet Water. One radio show I listen to stated it was about 90% of their male student body. While that may be an exaggeration, that's unheard of.
-
Unfortunately they don't run themselves. The biggest challenge running this website is gettingthe forums going. We get a lot of views, which is good, but I'd love get the forums going. We have a lot of people in Alabama who know a lot about high school sports, we just gotta get them here.
-
amen JSU I make the same argument all the time.. It isn't like the South has dominated the North, it's that Sweet Water has dominated ALL of 1A.
-
Been thinking about this ever since Hammaknocka's request. So what I've come up with is this.
8 Games per Class. 1 from each region. This will give all regions equal time and all classes as well. Of course this will up our games per week from 30 to 48.
What do you guys think?
-
I understand what you are saying but do you still have it North South? Where do the 4 4's come from?
-
Yes. You can pick any game you want to. However, the one's designated as Big Ones are the only ones that count toward the game. But I will look further into changing it around some more and see what I can come up with. I've been pretty happy with the way it's come out this year. As we go deeper into the season more and more games are coming from the South it seems. I think that's because the South has more powerhouse teams than the North does, so it lends itself to better matchups.
-
Two teams that have turned it around this year, and now may be playing for homefield in the playoffs.
-
A week without many marquee matchups in 5A gives these two teams the spotlight.
-
Region 5 hasn't traditionally been the strongest. Whoever wins this though is likely to take the top seed.
-
A one point game last year, both teams undefeated this year and both legit threats for state title runs.
-
This is probably for the region title, unless Houston County surprises me. Who you got and why?
North Jackson/Guntersville

I personally like North Jackson to win. They have more overall talent, but you can't overlook G'Ville. Their defense is absolute amazing. But can they hold down NJ twice in one season? Seems like a lot to ask.
