Hiring Coach Ballard would be a big mistake! He has no people skills or personality. Qualities you need as a head coach. I would like to see them keep him as a OC, though. He needs to learn to work with the avg. kids as well as he works with the kids that excel.

Are you kidding me? This is what the school needed he has the heart and he cares about the players and he has also been coaching a traveling baseball team that consists of 8-9 yr olds. He has spent his time as the OC now its his team. Also you bump up his pay some and you don't have to pay someone to come in here. There alone should save what $40,000 in this down economy.

Well Let me be the first to apologize to you Mrs. Stroud, I may have said somethings that were entirely untrue and hurtful and for that i am truely sorry. I just wish this came out better for everyone in greeneville. Like usual its never that easy around here. Like the real truth in the Greeneville Sun of why the coach resigned and it wasn't b/c he didn't like it here. I guess it was handled in the most mature manner out there but for someone who is in there early twenties; I just don't get why this town is so low key on many major things and happenings. Tom. night there is a forum at a church downtown and to what i can gather its about What would greenevillians like to see happen to there downtown. Come on now when the man gets ready to spend his money he will. What was all the talk about rediscover Greeneville about anyways, they have already had all these forums.

I would also say that Ballard didn't get the head coaching job two years ago b/c he has never really been a HC. Now were moving down and why not give him a shot to let him prove that he can make this his team...

Well said and I might also add that whoever else had prior knowledge of these bills,and i can't believe that AD didn't once ask where all the stuff was coming from, should be held accountable as well. I believe Mac was the sacrificial lamb here and I'm sure after the way this one went down, he can't wait to get outta here....so now that this horse is thoroughly dead....any suggestions, rumours, speculations or wishes for his replacement?

no, 10 helmets, plus all the new stuff he bougtht when he first started and it was never paid for costed $20,000. Everything he bought from April 2007 to now came due. See, that's the thing, all the bills he racked up with this one company were never paid. Mac said that he thought the equipment was promised by businessmen, but he wasn't filling out any purchase orders. The chickens came home to roost when he sent the 10 helmets in to get fixed.

 

i agree that there's probably more to it, but that's enough to get anybody fired, at least if they work for my business.

 

I don't know their finances, but I do know that every school is hurting for money. All that money is supposed to be going to education and it looks like it is. I know that I paid tuition for my girls and it makes me mad as heck to think that someone racked up $20,000 in bills that the school is going to have to pay for.

 

And let me tell you, buddy, I do know a little bit more about this than you since I donate money I get to hear a little bit more about where it's going than nosey retired teachers and sad "glory days" football players who are trying to defend their coach without any information. See now here is what doesn't make sense what all he bought that would add up to $20,000 and just now there getting po's on it. So does it make you mad that there is a state of the art football field and it totaled alot more then $20grand. I have never posted on here. I like to read everything but I couldn't hold my piece no more. I have been hearing so many things about all of this I can't stand it.

 

YOu have all these people on here that say they know peoples types and what not. I have known Linda Stroud for years. She has never done nothing but the right thing. I have sit next to her in church nearly every Sunday. She is a good god-fearing woman. Youins never talk about that. She loves the Lord and always does the right thing. If you think she done somebody unfair, it's because you don't know her.

Ok so explain to me why the entire girls basketball team got suspended and two of the guys. When hollowell was there he took care of suspension and mishaps like this. Would this power not go to coach richards or is this the place where you put the initials DR. in front of someones name and they have the super ego. She is a nice woman but she is the principal go behind closed doors and do your job like jerry ayers did. Let your other 2 assistant princ. do there jobs.

the company that he racked up $20,000 in debt with would not release the helmets until the debt was paid or a payment plan was started and the principal had to sign off on it. That's how the administration got wind of it in the first place. The school does not have $20,000.

 

I offered to pay some of it when I heard about it, but the amount I could give wasn't even enough when I found out that it was $20,000.

 

If one of my employees racked up $20,000 in debt, I would be calling the Sheriff. Mac got lucky and got to resign and probably go to a great job. I am sure he thought someone would pick up the tab, but they didn't. He tried to change the dates on the POs but that didn't cover up his mistake and that's why we are where we are.

 

Now you have all of these nasty people on here saying things that aren't true. Talking badly about a principal who was just trying to do her job.

The way i see it the $1000 my parents spent for me to go to GHS is going somewhere and lets see i would estimate that probably 1000 students in the city school system are from the county. That equals 1 million give or take, so since you know it all where is that money going?

I've heard the same thing that he wanted 10 new helmets every year. Here is what i know that one of the men giving him money often likes to pull back. As for the main contributed what has he not done for this city. Coach M is not the victim; Rediscover Greeneville came out in last year i believe. Then the economy took a downward spiral and since that time this person has not let money go quite as fast. So you can't go blaming him if this was about money then the coach should have taken a paycut. I mean he is dring around in a free truck provide by greeneville chevrolet. The way it happened was all wrong and Stroud is just trying to be a little too mighty on her high horse.

Well I would say that he is gone now and he was recieving alot of money in ga. and other states this amount is normal. Around here its just not heard of yet. I really hope that they look at the current coaches say coach ballard and give him his shot to coach this team he has been here for about 10yrs now. I don't think he would care too much about the big bucks and he would make a great coach. Its sad too see him go but its greeneville and when u have DR. in front of your name your special. I understand what your saying barb but to take away football period isn't going to help the budget at all. Before coach Mac got there we didn't have football period and were getting pushed around because we weren't near as strong as other teams, we had the athletic ability but were not physical. Most of the teams in our conference have had football period for years now such as schools like West and East I know for sure. He can find a job that pays him what he wants and keeps their promises......i could see him maybe go to a college and coach

Well Ryan he was a great coach and he pushed you guys. Although i think your incorrect about we didn't have football period. We did with coach Z; I just think his last two years he changed as an individual and many players didn't have respect for him. This really does hurt I can't understand why we spent 1M on a new field but we can't pay our coach that took us to state semis this year. Once again I thinks its old fashioned dirty politics. Also why don't you and your former teammates get around him and go to the school board. They wanna talk pay cuts, as i recall Ailshie was in the hunt for Maryville Director of schools and Stroud has been all over this city. Now why can't they take cuts as well????????

Veer half these people on this thread are current rivals from MLC and 5 rivers who are finally having to accept the reality that they've been beaten by a little soon-to-be 2A team...This is a fine decision for Greeneville. I don't see anyone dissing Central for trying to be reassigned to 2A or Betsy and North for playing in their assigned division but for Greeneville to do it... well we're just looking for an easy road to state. I rather think the one we were on was taking us nowhere...This great competition, and renewed cross-county rivalries will make District 2 stronger over the next 4 years. It would be nice to see upper East Tn make some noise in 2A.

Ghs may be out ahead of others in the conference next year but by how much. I think playing to our size will be great b/c next season should be a rebuilding year, am i right. With all the players we lose this year. Coach M will finally start earning that money(not saying he isn't already) As for the scoreboard that is with the school and pepsi I believe. As far a upgrades i don't see them starting soon. With the way the economy is who knows what will happen.

Well he has been given way too many chances. He knocked a guy out last year and got no time. I know of another fight that got two guys 48 hrs in juvi,personally i don't think they deserved it. Now he is an adult you only get so many chances with the law and this time chances are up. I think that some time would help him reflect on his life here the past few years and would keep him from going down the road his brother went. Jordan know when its your time to get out of what your doing and take responsibility for your actions and become a man. Thats the only way you can do it. Put everything in the past and look toward the future.

Quarles? Who is the JV qb?

Who was the freshman qb this year and also how does tanner stewart look for the future. He played qb at gms this year. Quarles just don't seem like the natural qb and a better fit on defense. I wish there was a better talent pool at qb. Beside cody baugh and jordan it seems like its been a fill in senior.

You were right Ethel, too many athletes by Central. Lenoir City continues to make too many mistakes inside the red zone. Not sure who is calling plays for LC but some adjustments sure need to be made. Outscored 71-0 the past 2 weeks might mean you need to shake things up a bit...

I don't think zeller would be calling plays for lc he was all defense in greeneville although i think he took a turn at it his last few years but don't quote me to that.

Yeah, granted and I didn't say anything about that. I'm just saying that people are calling for a huge shut out and last time that was said, didn't happen. Boone and Cocke County are different teams though.

No its not gonna be a huge margin of victory. The team is playing better as a unit but still there down. Jordan can't lead this team every game other people have to step up and step up big. I would say that Greeneville should win by 2 tds playing at cc. They may not be the best of teams but they have always been very physical and play to the best of there ability. This year i don't think any game is a cake walk ,but this should be our biggest margin of victory all season.

Oh i am looking forward to this one since im a gators fan! First off ive saw ut this year crapton has a long ways to go and with the rb's that they have why not pound the ball with the run. I have also seen how over rated the ap polls are. What stinks for florida is where they started at #6. Usc is ok again but they don't play anyone out west and ohio state there a fluke. Ok back to the subject Tebow hasn't been a big this year mainly b/c they have a running game now but i think in this game he is gonna turn loose and make the vols look silly.

They returned almost all of their skill positions, but lost 8 starters on the defensive side of the ball. There is potential there...i swear, it's just a question as to when they will meet that potential. Afterall, they do have a better record going into the game than we did last year. LoL

Yeah but u all had barner and hall and also an o'line that could move people and a d-line that interrupted the plays. Its been hard to watch so far and i think this week it will be really hard. I have noticed some real conservative play calling until last night in the 4th quarter. They have really good coaches its just a matter of time and playing together as a team. They should be fine after south when the schedule loosens up with c.c and cherokee and volunteer.

I think south has the potential to make this a onesided game. Offensively, they've looked very solid. Anytime you can average 20+yards per carry, you know you're doing alright. However, i would not look over greeneville. Last year coming into the south game they had lost to boonej 14-0 the week before. So i wouldn't put as much store in the prior weeks as some might be tempted to. South's defense needs to solidify a bit before i feel assured of victory. And does anyone know how greeneville's o-line looks? How many are returning from last year? Also, are they keeping the look of a smaller, faster d-line this year?

How good is South's d-line there's the ? If there fast and can disrupt a play then they will be on greenway all night long. I hope the center takes a few hundred extra snaps this week. The running game looks to be minimal unless jordan runs it all over the place. The d-line for greeneville is bigger this year and there not getting much penetration. The middle lb stewart is the one u wanna try to avoid he will make a play anytime the defender is around. Other then that the defense still has a ways to go. Also it hurts when barner is out for probably the year.

Well i don't have anything to say. I think South should run Greeneville over. The team we had last year was probably one of the best they will have in a while. We can keep on saying that the defense is horrible and this and that but why did we only score 17pts last night with whats supposed to be a great offense. Here is the when we run we run up the middle and the oline doesn't block. If we run outside we usually get 5 yds. When we pass the ball 75% of the ball are catchable and yet last night there were probably more than 10 dropped passes. IF South can pass the ball and if u can go more than 20yds with it, you have the secondary beat big time. If trevon isn't playing then throw all night long.

This was probably one of the worst games i have ever been too and boone u all should have won. Get this Boone has 5 turnovers and the devils only win by 10. What killed me watching from the stands was in the fourth when boone had the ball with the 4th and maybe three on there own 24 and they go for it and get about 7 yds. thats a slap to the face of the defense. Idk but i think were in for a long season the week off killed us. Now barner has a broken toe and who knows about hall. Barb before we criticize the d-line lets talk more about what should be a pretty good o-line that just seems to stand up and say here is our qb get him and jordan took about 10 snaps around the ankles tonight. Jordan had a good game he is starting to look TEBOW like. Finally on our 2nd td they start calling aggressive plays and what do we do 2 plays and were in the endzone. This is starting to look like if this team is going anywhere a few certain playmakers are gonna have to have TEBOW like performances to keep them kicking if not this could be a very long season. Next week is SS uh oh after this game its scary to think about.

For what its worth Boone beat South Greene by only 2 tds. If the defense can play with more poise and more aggresion we should see the 1st win against boone in a long time. If they don't win we could be in for a very long season.
