I know it's two weeks away, but why wait? might as well get it started early, i think central will be in for a tough game even with meigs playing boyd this friday, but the biggest question in my mind is will rayl be ready to take on his old team? can he put all his emotions aside and lead the most talented team in central's history to victory or will he fold and mr. jackson (aka Butch Cassidy or Cool Hand Luke which ever you prefer) have to come in and lead the team to victory action jackson style as he did last year?

central 42 meigs 12 close at first but central's depth breaks the game open in the 2nd half, look for huge games from mr. jackson and mr. harrison (aka the Sundance Kid) and the entire defense......

Well i hate to say this but mr jackson is no longer on the football team at this point in time. He was pulled over this past weekend and they found something in his car and was took in to the justice center. So anybody wantin a winning season send yalls qb down to old mcminn central.

smokey04 and some of you others have no clue about coaching and its responsibility's. I guess your right they didn't have drugs, sex and things like that in the 1970's.LOL! Teachers and coaches are now the parents and thats just the way it is. When I coached baseball I had some control over what they were doing outside of school because if I found out they were into something they were gone but luckily I never had that problem because they knew exactly what I expected from them. I would rather lose every game with good respectful hardworking kids than win a state with a bunch of jerks. Let me quote your ignorance "the type of dicipline he has control over is penalties in a football game" your dead wrong period. Let me give you an example my nephew and his friend who both go to Polk went to the Meigs vs Central game for the district championship in baseball, they were sitting there at Central on campus when here comes about 10 football players who come from spring practice and stand or sit right behind them and start saying when you leave were going to kick your butt. The whole time their cussing them and calling them names and there were football coaches standing there and not one of them said one thing to those players. In fact Butch saw what was happening and came over and eventually walked them to the car so they could leave. Here is another one for you; When Polk played Central at Central your fullback/linebacker was standing there yelling into the backstop net "Hammonds you s***" while Mike is batting and who was sitting next to him laughing the whole time none other than two of your coaches. Real classy and you say the football coach's have discipline, they don't even have control at school functions on campus while they are standing there. That just shows me that the player's do not have any fear of the coach's. Would you like me to give you a few more examples that I saw during baseball season. I feel that not all of your coach's have this same philosophy but its Coach Derricks program and everything starts at the top!

Go ahead and lets hear it, a Polk player or fan done this and that. Well I gurantee you that they didn't do it in front of Coach Davis or an assistant. As for me if I am at a Polk game and a player or even a student starts something like what happened with my nephew I can gurantee it that I will not sit back and let it happen and I sure won't sit there and laugh about it. There is a difference in school spirit and being harassed and threatened.

ya'll are frigin crazy coach d is a great coach and a good man. lets not mention the new weight room he raised all the money for, the way he pushes the kids in the classroom with, makes them turn in weekly progress reports checks every single players discipline, treats most of the kids like they're his own sons... lets just bash the man for taking a horrible team and lifting them up to championship status, or helping these young boys become men, i know jordan slack rell moss shane mo and everyone would agree, they would not be the players they are without coach d pushing them to be the best they can, and being acting pep club pres i cant let you bash my school, team, or coach... and with that said stay off coach d he brings swagger to the team along with jordan and rell, type of attitude to where they know they wont be stopped because no one is working harder then we are, there is no QB in the state that hit the weight room harder than my boy action jackson aka superman.... Like who gives a crap about a team that was in pads a week before anyone else was allowed, a team with academic issues, a team that has played only TWO teams with winning records and split them - you Central folks want to talk about overrated? Raise your own hands.

At Sweetwater, Polk was robbed by the officials and the Howard game, Polk simply ran out of time - No one, NO ONE has performed as well as Polk did with Howard. I'm not going to make predictions about teams I've never seen play, i.e. Meigs.

 

I've been staying away from Central threads, how about you Central folks mind your own business in Polk threads? On October 26th we'll find out who is overrated.

their return game is horrible, but hammons or however u spell his last name will put it into the end zone on every kick off, and he's good from 45 yards out on the field goal game, he's ranked in the nation in punting and field goals... so it should be a good game, but i see tyler mowbryant (aka jesus of meigs county) will lead the tigers to the promise land... meigs co 20 - polk ur sister 14

Sigh.... finishing what you have started is the standard, especially if the playing field is level. At Central, the playing field is not level because Brandon Derrick's goal is to win at any cost - cost to Central's players, the school, and the community. Derrick pampers the skill players and punishes the rest of the team when those same skill players screw up. I was there, I witnessed it many times. Coach Derrick's word is worth what you pay for it - nothing. Spoke to him about threatening the team/players and not following through with the threats, about treating all the players the same, being consistant - he'll tell you anything you want to hear, doesn't mean anything though. He wants to win, period. It's not the 90's anymore and there are some things you're not going to get away with now. Should be interesting if/when MC get's to the playoffs. (Oops! line was in pads a week before anyone else was allowed to? Recruiting in Knoxville? Other stuff? Say it ain't so!)

That's why my son does not play for that man anymore - I want him to learn responsibility and respect for rules/laws, something that seems to be impossible under the head coach at Central.

I'll have to throw my vote to the Chargers. I don't remember Sequoyah having the speed that Chargers have. What happened last year will not happen this year. Central has gained a year and gotten stronger and gained endurance. Sequoyah had best bring their "A" game. That's what it'll take, and I'm not sure your "A" is good enough. There will also be an added player this game that has been setting out a three game suspension. He'll change the line-up. The team that beat Meigs will be a better team this coming Friday night.

I agree, everyone at sometime has lost their cool and done something they wish they had not of done. I would say that the person bashing coach Derrick has had their fair share of mistakes.

2 everyone dissing coach derrick, just think this is just his second season how much discipline can you have when you take over a losing team with limited talent and try to lift the football program and the community from getting slayed every game in just two years, be 4 real we out played polk and had the meigs game close in the 4th quarter we only lost three kids give it time you'll know about it soon enough and coach derrick may be young but give him time he'll control this team and take them 2 the playoffs... remember now this is just his second season so when he starts spanking everyone in the region dont go off and try 2 start a fan club in his honor, keep your same views about central and coach derrick dont switch on us like your mike jackson but just remember i told you so... when we go 2 meigs and whip them close your mouths and when we whip polk so bad they close the school shut your mouths and the nerve of anybody from englewood or etowah 2 diss coach D remember who made people excited about central football again!
