  1. I have pretty much been to every home game since @ 94. I am just saying people were complaining about the restrooms in the 90's when I was a student. Now it is just sad when you come out of the bleacher restrooms and see this nice field house. I should not of said " brand new", but I figured people would know what I meant.

  2. Sure hope they finally update the restrooms. People were complaining about them 20 years ago and they just ended up letting people go inside the school to the school restrooms since the ones behind the bleachers are so bad. Really sad when you came out of the run down restrooms and the first thing you see is a brand new $$$$$$$$ field house.

  3. Just remember that I said the name Phillip Anthony for the next Head Coach at Goodpasture. He has been apart of some winning programs in his coaching career.

Please give us more details. How does 2004-2006 assistant head coach at Pope John Paul and 2010-2011 assistant head coach at Ezell Harding translate into "He has been apart of some winning programs in his coaching career" ???

  4. The QB must be very good if you feel he will score enough points to compete. Does he have a better upside than the Reynolds kid who played last year?

As the last couple poster said, the Reynolds kid was something special. If I remember correctly Renyolds also started as a freshman and was running the show before we knew it. Reynolds was a dual threat QB and would take off if he saw nobody open. He kept the defenses on their feet. Only time will tell what Law's strengths & weakness are but I couldn't be happier with what I have already see from him. He would probably tell you he has some big shoes to fill and I believe he can do it!

  5. I have been attenting Goodpasture games for about 10 years now, don't think I have missed more than 1 or 2 in that time. I think the defense is the best pass defense that I have seen from the Cougars. Haven't given up many points at all on the long pass. Cougars can do this! Gotta bring it, but CPA can be beat.

Any team can be beat, It's sorta like when Goodpasture plays Lipscomb, you can throw the numbers out the window cause both teams are gonna bring it. I guess we have watched different Goodpastures play because most time the defender does not even turn around to find the ball when defending a pass and this has been their weekness for quite a few years. They do really well defending the run and the 5-10 yard pass, but the 15+ yard passes are not defended well.

Hopefully I am not giving GP enough credit and they will prove me wrong and take back the playoffs from CPA. I will be the first one out on the field congratulating them. It could happen but my gut is telling me it will be a long night Friday.

  6. I have a question for any of you Goodpasture fans out there. I have heard about the suspensions causing difficulties for your team this year, but I'm curious as to how young the Cougars are this season. Are you senior-heavy or are a lot of these guys going to be back next year? I ask this because I really think that Goodpasture could be a force to be reckoned with next season in 2A, and I hope that most of these kids will get a chance to make a statement next season after having to go through a lot of adversity this year. Good luck this Friday! Go Cougars

Goodpasture had many young players get to play this year and get some great playing time during the suspenisons of the starters. That makes those young players even stronger and we should be in very good shape going into next year. Hopefully Goodpasture will be the "team to beat" for the next couple of years.

  7. Are you a Goodpasture fan? You don't seem too optimistic for their chances. Is it due to the QB being an 8th grader or overall better talent at CPA?

BOTH, but the 8th grade QB is doing very, very well for being 13 or 14 and playing against 17-18 year olds.

I went there and have been to 90% of their games (home & away) in the last 15 years since I graduated. But, I also tell it like I see it. I don't sugar coat things to make them seem better than they are. Goodpasture had a tough year off the field and it affected them on the field. I believe Coach Martin will get them ready for CPA and could possibly pull off the upset, but I feel that CPA is playing 14-21 point better football than Goodpasture is right now. I do believe that GP could win, but they will have to play a perfect game and defend the passes that CPA will show them. Goodpasture's weakness vs CPA is defending the 15-30 yard passes.

I don't know why people are getting so out of shape when a Goodpasture fan thinks the other team is better then them this year. I am just telling it like I see it.

P.S....I was in the area and able to attended the CAK vs Alcoa game last Thursday night and I hate to break it to ya, but I also think CAK & Alcoa is about 4-5 TD's better than both CPA and GP this year.

  8. I wouldn't say GP is back at full strength, I think a few players never got to come back. This will be the second start for GP's 8th grade quarterback. He was put in during the 3rd quarter vs McGavock last week and started last night vs Greenbrier.

As close as the first meeting was this year, I would have to say CPA will win this one by at least 21. If GP plays a perfect game they might be able to keep it closer but I say CPA wins this one.

  9. As far as 3a, it doesn't appear that anyone has won in football other than Alcoa, with the exception of CAK last year. It looks like Alcoa is the team to beat again. It would appear that "daddy" would have had this changed several years ago. I believe that any school, private or public, which can get students outside their zone, for ANY reason should be subject to a multiplier of some sort.

I always wonder this also. I would think the public schools with closed zones would be in an uproar since schools like Alcoa get the same players as private schools but their parents don't have to shell out the 8-10K per year for their child to go there as the private schools do. I don't think anyone will be happy until the TSSAA makes the privates play privates & publics play publics.

  10. The Tennessean posted this today:

"CPA (10-1) at Goodpasture (8-3): CPA opened the season with a 35-14 win against Goodpasture and has impressed since then. However, quarterback Albert Mitchell (1,503 offensive yards, 15 TDs) did not play in the Lions’ 3A playoff win over Cheatham County because of an injury and his status is up in the air. The Cougars have won seven straight after a 1-3 start. Goodpasture 26, CPA 23."

How did Albert Mitchell get hurt, what kind of injury does he have? I hope he will be able to go tomorrow night.

  11. I heard from a source that CPA refused to trade with Goodpasture over the weekend. If that is true then why did CPA not trade films with Goodpasture? I was always under the impression that this was a "gentleman's agreement".

It would be a disadvantage for CPA. Goodpasture is a complete different team than they saw in game 1. Goodpasture Cougar quarterback Keenan Reynolds picked apart a Grundy County secondary last week going 13-17 for 334 yards and five touchdown passes. The senior All State quarterback scored another touchdown on a short run as he accounted for all six Cougar touchdowns on the night. Reynolds connected with four different Cougar receivers for touchdown passes in the 42-6 route of the Yellow Jackets. It was the most passing yards ever produced by a Cougar quarterback for a single game in the 40 years of Goodpasture football. Not a bad night considering he never took a snap in the second half. (Goodpasturefootball.com)

  12. Hopefully this will be a closer game for Goodpasture and they won't get man-handled like the did the first time around. If Goodpasture can get a few stops on defense this time, I think we will see a typical GP/CPA playoff game like they we have seen the last couple of years.

I went to the CPA/Maplewood game when GP was off and CPA has quite the field-goal kicker. This kid sunk one at 51 yards and I believe it would of went for a few more. Hopefully we will see the CPA punter more than we see the kicker :D
