  1. I've seen a lot of post on how we need to play more 11th graders and I've seen post on making a change at QB. If GC leaves things along or makes a change, we will win some games because the teams upcoming are not the teams we just played.I think it would be like the gators last year using {Tim T} in some places on the field, a good thing. JC needs the playing time at QB,but you don't have to slap the senior down.On the other hand we had a senior go in at LB last night for a 10th grader and he responded with two straight plays, the 10th grader didn't come back out again. The coaches make the calls and sometimes we like it and other times won't agree, just like agreeing with our wives all the time.I'd like to see more young guys on special teams. I've seen some 10th and 11th graders that don't play run over starters with huge hits,it's like the same names is all that can be called upon. You can give some of those starters a rest, because I know for a fact there are a lot of kids that can hit harder on one or two special teams play then some of the names { that weigh 150-60-70- pounds} you hear talked up on the air ways and in the newspaper. I thank if we can work out a few things on the O and learn to hang onto the ball, we will be a very good team in the next few weeks.

  2. Graham didn't let any "talent" go...they let themselves go. I guess smokin' dope and cigs and drinking beer is "talent". Go Raiders

OK, wasted talent.Among the wasted talent was two of the best athletes on the team. When you start taking speed off the field as well as some of your best linemen getting hurt, it makes for a rough road. Add in one of the toughest three games any team in the state has played and bad things will happen

  3. Prediction: The DB fans have me convinced that DB will not score alot of points but will play better on offense this week, and will have a very tough defense. DB will play their best game of the year to date. WB and Bearden may have surprised them a little, but they will expect a tough game with OR and come in ready to play. Add in the bad weather predicted and OR's 2 top linemen apparently not playing and that sounds like a low scoring game to me. I predict (maybe it's hope) Oak Ridge has enough to squeak by.

    OR 17

    DB 14

I don't think the last two teams surprised DB. They are just pretty good and ranked in the top six, while you guys are number two in the state. If our guys can make a good showing tonight,I'd say that very few teams in the last few years at DB have played any better with their teams then this years bunch has. After this game, the key for DB is to try and get better and not have any more kids go out.A lot of smart guys forget that GC had to let some of his best talent go before the season and injuries to some key players have made this a very hard year

  4. Man You all sound more and more like us Ridgers last year. As for players flapping their arms, I have always thought, if they will do their part, the fans will do theirs. Then all that flapping wouldn't be necessary.

I wish for a safe game with no injuries on either team. And being a little bit selfish a win for Oak Ridge. Cause after a loss it sure is a miserable drive back from Kingsport.

    ROLL WILDCATS ROLL

Have a safe trip up in the rain friday. I'd like to wish you a happy trip back, but I can only be so nice.

  5. To add to that....when the band gets a bigger ovation for just walking down to get ready for the halftime show than the defense can get on a crucial play (even when the players are flapping there arms off!) then there is something wrong. Don't get me wrong, I think this is the best band in the state and they deserve all the accolades they get but Friday Night Lights aint about a tuba player

I'm a football parent, but the band parents do have us 4 to 1 and the ones I seen were not there to video the football game. I understand that, cause I'm not going to video the band every friday. I'll enjoy the band, but like a lot of band parents,I'm more into what my son is doing. If nobody around me makes any sound but myself during the football game,I don't care.I know a little more about the game then the people around me, so maybe I will rub off on them and they can teach me stuff about the band besides how good I thank they sound every week.

  6. DBDAD i hope this years team makes the playoffs before they win a game in the playoffs. i would like for them to win a game in the playoffs. it would really help the fans who are in love with graham. and this years offense in never gonna be pretty darn good unless they play jeff co. or karns or campbell co. every week, yeah they could be good against them but so could this years freshman team. i understand that we need to be behind this years team but its just so hard to when i know there is not to much to look forward to. but dont get all mad at me cause im just tellin you guys the truth i have the whole time but all you guys want to hear is good stuff so i guess im the bad guy. i also wouldnt be to excited about this weeks game cause i think it will get very ugly in j fred.

Everyone knew this was a hard road with very few key returners. When it counts the most is come playoff time, and I thank this team has the ability to make it and compete for a victory or two. You know all to well that winning it all is not a given, and I'm just telling the truth as well. I'll have to see my son's complete career at DB before I can give my feelings as to how he was treated under GC, so far it's been fair.I understand where you are coming from and I'm not mad,it happens sometimes that way. GC is the coach and I'll stand behind him .

  7. I really hope the majority of DB grads and fans are not of the same opinion as some of the posters I have been reading. Has DB faithful all of a sudden turned into UT fairweather fans? All this year's team needs is the support from the fans and student body and they will be fine. I can't believe some of the remarks that some of the so called DB fans are posting on this board. The Tribe will be playing their best game of the season as they have all year long to this point. The only game I have seen is the Knox Bearden game, but from listening to the first two ball games it sounds like each week DB has been very much improved. Sometimes games seem to be out of the players hands, as I think was the case last week against Bearden. If you think Bearden didn't have a 12th man out there playing with them than I don't know what game you were watching. I am not making excuses for last weeks game, but I do believe that Bearden has a little something extra to play for this season with the passing of their coach this past summer. The Tribe will be jacked as always when they kick it off Friday night against the Ridge. When teams seem to be down that is when the fans and community should be rallying around them, not kicking them while they are down (Mr. Crazy). I am beginning to wonder if you ever went to Dobyns-Bennett in the first place Crazy. Anyway, get ready for a real slobber knocker of a game Friday, and I don't care what the critics say we still have one of the most brilliant offensive minds in the South coaching and CALLING plays for the Indians.

    ROLL TRIBE.

I'd say Crazy played at DB and if this years team won just a{ single }playoff game, it would upset him very much.

  8. No, the embarrassing thing will be if DB's coaches walk off the field without shaking hands like 2 of them did against Knox B! Both of them left straight for the locker room. One is brand new, perhaps that is what he was taught when he played at UT. It reminds me of a couple of years ago when a DB player chastised another player on the side line for a bad pass. The fans see everything that happens down there and those 2 coaches were embarrassing for DB and this city. If OR runs any offense to the left side it will get ugly fast. LB and DB are too small and to weak. The LB gets planted 3/4 of the plays and they arm tackle. For it to be close DB has to be lucky (score other than offense) and OR stink it up (turnovers).

I'm sure if someone tells GC that some of the team or coaches didn't shake hands after a loss or win,he would address it to the team . I guess when you pick at something this close, your never going to be pleased with a DB game.I'd say that the Knoxville fans were so mad about this that they could hardly march around J Fred after the game. It's ok for the people of Kingsport to go on with their lives today ,even with this great emarrassing thing hanging over us.Yes DB is small and not very strong at some spots on defense, but Watson is the best I've seen at making adjustments to help his team be in the right place to get it done.

  9. is anybody gonna admit that i have been right about this team so far this year. i will say the defense has played alot better than i thought they would have but i told you the offense would do nothing. i was at the Blount game and i shocked at how bad our WRs looked. i told you people that the no huddle offense wouldnt work at all and that graham cant call plays in big or close games. im not gonna make a trip back to kingsport to watch this team until maybe the science hill game cause i dont want to waste my gas on that. i think that OR will destroy DB this week it doesnt matter what changes DB has made on offense. you cant fix something when there is nothin better there. i really hope DB doesnt lose by more than 28 this week that would be really embarrassing. just give me my credit for calling this.

I'd say that not to many teams in the state have played three of the top six ranked teams in a row other than DB.

  10. I've been to watch a few Indian practices this week and these boys are fired up and I'm believing in them. They have made many changes on offense. From personel to formations and i think Indian fans will like it. I say the Tribe's offense gets it rolling this week and the defense continues to play amazing. Indians win this one 21-13.

    Good luck Wildcats.

I'd say I have talked to you sometime this week and you are right on about the changes.GC knows this is a game that will be hard fought and what a better time to try some different things. The coaches must have done a lot of work this weekend and I look forward to seeing the game and hope our guys can make a good showing. We need to remember that the teams we are playing over these few weeks , are pretty strong and will help us in the long run.

  11. Maryville is the best team in the state of Tennessee and yes they deserve to be 5th in the nation but alcoa should be in the top 10 to. I think if Maryville wins state this year they will be 1st or 2nd in the nation by next year. If Maryville does go play a top 25 ranked nation team i do think they would win.

Even if Maryville is with out a queston the number {5} team in the nation, it would be hard to rank a fine alcoa team in the top ten after Maryville hung a 42-14 game on them.I think Maryville has the ability to beat another top twenty- five team. However, with a bullseye on them every week, they could get beat by a good ole Tennessee team on any given friday.

  12. How in the world can anybody come out with a national poll on highschool football? They can`t do a college poll and get a true number one. I think there are too many people with too much time on there hands and too many coaches with inflated egos that take their team out of state to play HIGHSCHOOL football .I.M.O. that is crazy and should not happen it`s` H.S not college .

I would like see see them 1st,but you have a good point.Michigan was NO-5 last week,

  13. The fact is they need to have a cut in football like baseball. There are to many kids wasting their time practing who will not play unless there is a run away in the score.DB is loaded with good players and it is hard to play them all.I know most parents want to see their kids play, but you can not start substuting players in a close game.GC likes big crowds at the games, more $$$$$ at the gate.Think about the band parents and relatives who come to games that draws alot of people.60-70 players is alot.IMO

GC would never go for a cut, but there are about 20 or more players that act as if they just want to look good on fridays. They don't work as hard and just play around during the week. Even if a kid is not going to play on friday,he can make the team better by working hard and giving the starters the best look they can get before the games.I think those kids that work hard should letter just like a star because it is just as important to have the team ready to play, but if a kid doesn't want to work, he shouldn't waste his or the teams time.

  14. You are out of line. I said nothing deroggatory about anyone...expecially our linemen. If any misconstrument could possibly be employed it would be towards our backs...and they are not a dime-a-dozen either. However, it is much easier to find skill positions than it is to find linemen...much less quality linemen. I merely stated that if DB is going to send us anything at all then linemen would be our choice. Not like they have a meeting and decide what to send. If anything it was a rib to DB for allowing any athletes to defect to South...much less premier athletes. And yes most of our linemen do go both ways and hope no one gets hurt because then we will see the price per dozen of a good lineman. It almost cost us the season last year. In fact, we had to convert a "quality" TE to center to complete the line this year...or were you not aware of that? You were at the game correct? Skill positions are in abundance on Pactolus...without any transfers from DB or anywhere else for that matter. But we currently have a corral of RB's and a QB's dream in numbers of awsome WR's. Not to mention how many good QB's we have. It takes a much longer period of time and much more in depth training to cultivate a quality lineman. By far! We have a very good line on both sides of the ball this year and we do have some underclassmen coming up but 75% of our current starting line just came into their own this season. Credit Coach Haynie with that. A name that doesn't get tossed around too much. About the team and not my kid? You're lost...I said nothing about my kid. If this is the best thing you can find on this board to cry about then you got problems.

I had not read down to your post this morning and was just going to say that I thought {reb425}had misunderstood you. I myself knew you were kidding about lineman, and wrote that your JV lineman looked very good last monday. The south lineman looked good on thursday,as did the kid I had been asking about from sevier. The older Sensabaugh kid for DB's freshman was the big difference in thursdays freshman game.I just wish he would leave a lot of the jumping around and things at home.I've been told he is older than one of the starting linebackers on DB's varsity. He's good enough to play on fridays at several spots, so all that extra stuff may be the reason GC has not moved him up allready.

  15. I heard this morning that GC is calling which side of the field to throw the ball to on a pass play.If so you are taking away from the QB ability to pass to an open man when that side is covered. The QB should be able to hit another receiver if he feels that he can complete the pass.Thats basic football.Hey it ain't brain surgery.R Wagner is good at controling offenses and calling plays IMO.Maybe GC needs alittle help calling plays.First down on the 9 maybe we ought to just go ahead and kick a field goal.

Ryan is a super coach and a great guy.I hope that one of these days when GC has had a good career,we would be so lucky to get Ryan as our head coach.Your not going to find a better man for our kids to play under. I've done seen that on a first hand note. I just hope the old general stays a few more years on defense, and doesn't get to down with the hard times.

  16. It says your "From" Alabama. So your really "From" Kingsport. Big Deal. I could care less where your from. Your still a "Race Baiter" Hey by the way, after you get rid of the Rebel Flag at South, I've got a big list of things I don't like. Maybe you could get rid of them for me. Some are race related and some are not. Let me know if your interested there college boy.

Well put Wacojaco, this thread is like burning brush outside today and it don't matter if your down wind or not.

  17. I dont think so. Maryville demolishes teams in Tennessee and all of these teams are ranked higher than them.

Some of the Texas...Southlake, Trinity, and Katy.....Florida......Northwestern, Lincoln, and Armwood....and Cali....Poly, Matre Dei, and Mission Viejo... teams like this that produce double digit D1 prospects each year and go on 50 game win streaks playing in the tougher divisions in their respected states would run us.

Didn't MBA play some of the ranked teams from out of state a few years ago.

  18. As a level headed DB fan I understand your unwillingness to count your chickens before they hatch but as an outsider making an unbiased prediction I am afforded that luxury. Plus it doesn't hurt that I can count on one hand the Region 1 lossess that the Tribe has suffered since I have been following Big East football. That's what Bearden has to overcome Friday night. A good team, playing at home with a history of dominating its region 1 foes.

As far as the rest of the region teams go (no disrespect intended), you can mark it down, the winner of this game will be the Region 1 champ.

I hope that you are correct, but I was happy with the way we played last week. Nobody should be happy with a loss, and that's why I'm not counting any chickens. There is a lot of work and some hard games, starting this friday.I hope that we can put all the parts together.I'm proud of all the kids that work so hard, from the 10th,11th,and 12th graders who take a pounding through the week,to the guys that are lucky enough for the coaches to put them on the field. Roll Tribe

  19. I'd say yes, but I think it would be more like any other football game you see in your area. Such and such team is faster, bigger, stronger, more key players, etc.

One case in point, my buddy played football in TN and recently moved to South Carolina. He says the play all around in more based on speed than strength. Small quick linemen and blazing fast backs and recievers. So what will win, strength or speed? No idea here, but it would interesting to see the best of the best play one another.

I'd agree with you. We do however get to see a lot of former Tennessee players at the next level, so you know we have some talent in the state. I think Maryville is a good example of a local team that has that kind of national coverage, attleast in the papers

  20. Before the season I was picking Bearden in this matchup. However, after seeing DB in person against WB and catching some of Bearden's game against West I believe that the Indians will now prevail in a close, hard fought game. Also, after the performance that I witnessed against a very good Gov team it appears that the predicted demise and ruin of this DB team by a few may have been a little premature.

No, this is not the DB power house of seasons past that would steam roll over the opposition but even a down Indian team is still better than 80% of the competition.

Bearden has a fine team for sure so it will be interesting to see if they can overcome the ghosts of seasons past and end a long losing streak, in a tough enviroment to a team that has been able to consistently find ways to beat them. DB knows they can beat Bearden. Do the Bulldogs have the same mindset and confidence?

Either way, it ought to be a good game with the winner claiming the Region 1 championship and the loser getting second place as a consolation prize.

A win for either team will be a big step toward the championship. It will only be one big step.I have not seen SH or SC play, but I know you for sure can't ring those games up as a victory before you even play them. Halls gave us all we wanted in preseason, and SC must have gave Halls all they wanted the other day. There is no chance GC will over look "anybody" with the team we have this year. DB is just to small on defense and has to many question marks on offense to bring our past glory to each game and watch the other team hide behind their cheerleaders. They are going to come after DB just like allways, and we will work to get better every week.
