  1. Adams is out of position??¦always has been and always will be. He??™s a very strong very athletic kid with good size and could dominate the boards...but loves to shoot the three!!! Had the powers to be pushed him to play post and taught him the tricks of that trade, he and his team would be much better off by now. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Cap, you are definately right on this one. I didn't want to say it during the season but why is Adams not in the post? I heard Justin Hess once say Adams was the strongest player he ever played against and Hess was pretty strong. He would cure their biggest weakness besides their bad 3 point shooting.

  2. This is how the District will go, round by round. This is with Crockett beating South in the play in game.

    WED

    DB over Crockett

TN High over Central (a toss up and could go either way)

    THUR

    East over Volunteer

    Science Hill over Boone

    SAT

DB over TN High/Central (either one, won't matter)

    Science Hill over East

    TUE.

East over TN High/Central (either one, won't matter) FOR 3RD PLACE

DB over Science Hill FOR THE DISTRICT TITLE

    Roll Tribe Roll

Can I get a hold of this crystal ball you have?

  3. Wow, didn't think I'd every see anyone write that one of our games this year was "Great"! /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

Central played very poorly. But South took advantage and seem to be trying the TN High game. They may pull an upset soon if you ask me.

  4. In DB's defense, it may seem that they get more free throws due to the fact that 4 post players play an even amount of minutes and they measure 6'6, 6'6, 6'7, 6'9. No team in the conference can handle, or has handled, them without fouling. Sort of like Duke gets the majority of calls/free throws go there way because they are always attacking the basket, same principle applies here. When 70% of your shots come from inside the paint, you are going to be fouled.

With that said, the refereeing in the upper east TN area is some of the worst I have seen. I like in Nashville and I try to make it to a few quality games in my area but it never fails that when I make it to the tri-cities to see DB play there always seems to be terrible officiating.

As far as the free throw situation goes,Central played a zone all game pretty much daring Science Hill to shoot. Science Hill played aggressive man to man defense, obviously, there will be more fouls against Science Hill.

  5. Cap, the way you talk you think you would had beaten anyone good. Who is your big win to make you think you all deserve to be at the top? These teams may be getting slaughter ruled but it is only because they don't walk the ball up the court ala TN High.

  6. Always so much hostility towards Central. I guess I would be too if I wasn't good enough to play at a school. It must have been tough seeing Baron and the boys going to the state. If only Coach Warren could see the awesome work you have done in AAU maybe he would have let you keep stats or something.

    It all makes sense now!

  7. And now we have this gem on Tricitiessports.com after last night's loss to Central:

???Our defense is like dog p--- that you can smell before you see it,??? said the Falcon??™s head coach Todd Whittemore. ???If I had a knife I would probably be on a suicide watch."

    Come on it's just a football..uh I mean basketball game /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />...aint it? Strange character. I'll be there Friday night to see the next chapter in the saga /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

Volunteer did not play their normal game, you know the undercutting and such. Cleanest game I have ever watched Volunteer play. Maybe thats why Whittemore was so upset.

  8. Central's student section has been pretty much told to do nothing besides show up and wear a certain shirt. The new administration is worried about every little comment made about our school. Soon students will stop showing up, and our students are doing nothing different than any other school. Nor did they before. We just have more people and our much louder.

Also, the "THIS IS OUR HOUSE" chant made no sense at all. I can't recall the last time East beat Central at Central.

  9. Waco you are an idiot. If you want to compare teams then let's do it:

PG: Joey Blackwell vs Tremell McGue. Advantage 02-03.

SG: Azmar Blye vs Todd Halvorsen. Advantage 02-03.

SG: Henry Williams vs Justin Sylvester. Advantage 02-03.

F: Jarrod Wooten vs. Marshall Hardy. Advantage 02-03.

F: Thomas Harrison vs. Jordan Edwards. Advantage 02-03.

    Bench:

02-03 -- Seth Jervis, Lamon Williams, Phillip Tritapoe, David Begley, Ryan Blackwell, Walker Throp (may be some others I'm missing)

07-08 -- Jamel Williams, Adam Lytle, Dustin McConnell, Darren Riggs, Bronson Flack, Reed King, Darius Davis, Jerry Long (may be some others)

Now that you have seen the "100% correct" comparison, just a few notes. The only questionable advantage I gave in the starting lineups was to Henry Williams over Justin Sylvester. And here are my reasons for that:

    1. Henry could shoot the ball better.

    2. Henry was bigger.

    3. Henry was a longer defender which caused more problems.

    4. Henry was an excellent, all-conference player in college.

Now, with that said, before Justin's career is finished, he could pass up Henry and be a better player, but there is nothing that would justify listing him as a better player at this point.

Brock, you are correct that noone in the area could handle the ball as well as Azmar except for maybe Joey Blackwell, who happened to be on his team. The 02-03 team would beat this years team down in all facets of the game. They had better ball handlers, shooters, and much better all around post play.

I have come to the conclusion that the reason everyone is so obsessed with this year's DB team is that they are so much better than the other area teams. Granted, this is probably a fact, all though Science Hill may have something to say about that. However, DB has played 1 good team to this point, Farragut, and got their brains beat out, and that was without Farragut's football players. Coach Morgan likes to say that his teams aren't ready until mid-January. That may be the case. Either way, this team has played 1 good team, and lost to that team by 20 or so points.

I have played against almost all of these players and this shouldn't even be a debate. The only reason this DB team is running over everyone is because the talent is down. I realize this because I go against this competition game and game out. No one has size like they used to. Harrison and Azmar's team would win by 50. There would be no one to stop Thomas. He plays against these kids up the Y and makes them look like middle schoolers. I'm not knocking this team now, but please don't compare the two.

  10. So have the trophies already been made out for DB or Science Hill? I figure there is no reason to play these games. You would think they have won the past two Districts, right? Wrong. Judging from the preseason predictions no other player from another school will score, assist or rebound as well?
